Chapter 5: Li Corporation
When Xue Ling and her husband, Han Lei alighted from their car, she could hear a sound of baby's wailing before it stopped. Deep frown marred her forehead as she confusedly looked towards her husband. "Did you hear it?"
Han Lei nodded as they strode into the house. They stopped in their tracks when they saw Fu Mingxia cradled a baby in her arms in the family area.
"What the hell?" Xue Ling shouted, bewildered by the current situation. "Darling..did we travel into another dimension?"
Han Lei gently flicked her forehead while Fu Mingxia rolled her eyes at her dramatic best friend. "Did you two decided to be a couple statue there?" She sarcastically remarked.
Xue Ling rushed towards her side and staring down at the chubby baby. "You...woman..whom baby did you kidnapped?"
Fu Mingxia smacked her thigh and signaled her to lower down her voice as the baby began to whimper by her loud voice. She pats the baby to sleep again and single-handedly manoeuvre her wheelchair into her own bedroom and puts the baby carefully and gently inside his crib while Xue Ling followed behind her.
She felt shocked yet again when she saw another baby inside the room, sleeping peacefully inside a crib. "What t-"
She clammed her lips when Fu Mingxia shoot her a sharp glare before she could shoot her mouth off. Curiously, she sauntered towards the cribs that was positioned alongside the bed. She raised her brows questioningly at her best friend but Fu Mingxia just signaled her to go out of the room, so the babies could sleep without disturbance. She obliged as they went out together after Fu Mingxia cautiously closed her bedroom's door.
"Now, tell me woman." She stood in front of Fu Mingxia with her arms akimbo and tapping her foot on the wooden floor impatiently.
"Nothing much. As you can see, I got two adopt sons today."
"Fu Mingxia!"
"Hey, sweetheart. Just let her be. It's not a bad thing, you know," Han Lei grabs his wife's hand and brought her to sit on the couch before he pats her back to soothe her frustration. He nodded at Fu Mingxia after the woman gave him a grateful smile.
"I'll tell you everything in later time, ONLY IF you won't flipped in anger." Fu Mingxia rubs her throbbing temple as her face paled with fatigue.
Xue Ling nodded dejectedly and sighed. "Are you alright? You looked pale."
"No, I'm not. I felt exhausted by the therapy session today. So..how's the deal going? I thought you supposed to come back this afternoon."
"I intended to talk to you about the deal. But I guessed you should rest early tonight. I'll just come again tomorrow."
"It's okay. It's just 8pm. As you both had come, let's get down to business then. Fu Ai, send some refreshments into the study."
"Yes, Miss."
After Fu Ai left, Han Lei opened his backpack and took out his laptop and hand over some files to his wife.
"I've met the CEO but did not manage to close the deal as he demand more share from us. But I'm sorry to say we can't make any deal with him ever again, as I probably had disabled his family jewel when he tried to molest me. That disgusting pig! He made a report on me, that's why we're coming back late today," Xue Ling cursed the CEO to rot in hell.
"It's okay. I had assumed he won't agree with our proposal but you really taught him well. Great job!"
"You're not angry?" Han Lei perplexed by her lack of reaction when they had lost the big deal because of personal reason.
"Of course I'm mad that man dare to lay his filthy hands on her. But if you asked about the deal, no..I'm not. I don't need someone with low morality to be our partners in the project. It'll only degraded our company's reputation if ever his crimes being air in the public. Afterall, we just build our company."
Han Lei gave her a grateful smile as his respect for her increase more, day by day. His wife was right, Fu Mingxia is someone with high integrity and righteous person. This is his first time working with her as her personal corporate lawyer. So he can't help feeling worried about their punishment.
"Did you file a charge against him?"
"I did."
"Then, everything is fine then."
"But XiaXia..what should we do now?" Xue Ling fretted about their situation. They need another partner so their first big project can be proceed as they planned.
"Meet this man tomorrow and sign the deal with him. If he refused to meet you, just say 'current flow'." Fu Mingxia slides a small card on the table towards them.
"Li Jun? Aren't he the CEO of Li Corporation in our neighbour country?" Han Lei baffled.
"You know him?" Xue Ling asked.
"Yes, yes..one of the team in my former company was involved in his case two years ago. He was deep in mud with many charges were filed against him and several evidences of him raping young boys emerged.
"Then suddenly, a man came and gave my former team leader a thick file which consists concrete evidences that the senior accountant was being slandered. I mean the CEO Li. Two years ago, he was just a senior accountant in the company. Right~ Before, it was Song Enterprise but Li Jun repudiated former CEO Song's offers to made truce and he puts a heavy charges against CEO Song before he took over his position and kicked him from his own company. He managed to increase the annual net worth of the company in double and change the name of the company into Li Corporation last few months."
"Sh*t! That's sure messy."
"It was."
"You're really well-informed, Han Lei." Fu Mingxia praised.
"It's my job, my passion. But how did you know him?"
"I just know," Fu Mingxia just shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly without further explanation but Han Lei had a hunch she was involved in the case, but how..that's better left unknown.
"He's not a creepy man, right?" Xue Ling inquired.
"As far as I remembered, no. He was a friendly man alright but still in safe boundary. Although, I guessed there's might be some changes in his personality in the last two years," her husband assured her. "But if anything untoward happened, l'll have your back."
"You're the best, hubby."
"Ughh..go back now. I don't need you two to be lovey-dovey in front of my eyes in my own house..shoo..."
