Chapter 35: The Secret Shop
The darkness gradually receded as Tang Lin arrived in a void-like space.
"It seems like you're the last one. This is the safe zone created in-between trials. Now, first you can choose to buy something with your points from the shop by heading over there", announced the guardian spirit, who had just appeared in front of him and pointed behind it.
Before, Tang Lin never saw the guardian spirit's true form and only heard it project its voice, but now he could see its true form. Unexpectedly, it was a mature-looking beauty with long, silky silver hair that flowed down her right shoulder in an orderly manner.
Blood slightly oozed down Tang Lin's nose as he looked down below her face.
'IS THAT SIZE EVEN POSSIBLE?' he thought in shock.
The guardian spirit was taller than him by a head with massive cleavage and slender legs with thick thighs.
Looking back at him, the guardian spirit gave him an aloof look like a goddess glancing at a pebble on the side of the road.
"Then you choose to either continue to the next trial or return to the outside", the guardian spirit continued.
"Ok, I'll choose to spend my points for now. What can I get?" Tang Lin asked.
"You'll see, follow me", the guardian spirit replied as it turned around.
As Tang Lin followed the guardian spirit, he could see some crazy-looking items to weird and unique items displayed everywhere.
Every item had its own pedestal and was neatly placed on top.
"Welcome to the Secret Shop! Here, everything is ranked by the region it is located within the store. The best, but most expensive items are stored in the core region of the shop. On the other hand, the more common goods are placed here, near the entrance of the Secret Shop. There are in total 10 regions of the Secret Shop, which are each separated by 1000 point milestone intervals. The outer region refers to the 1,000-3,000 point items, while the inner region refers to the 4,000-7,000 point items. There is also the core region that includes 8,000-10,000 items. However, as I previously mentioned when you first entered this trial, you can only buy one of the 10,000 point items by defeating a God-tier beast", it turned around to explain, stopping at the entrance.
"Now, according to the amount of points you have, you should be able to access up to-..." the guardian spirit said before stopping after it checked Tang Lin's points.
'11,256 points?!?' How did he obtain so many points? In this trial, I only added one God-tier beast and the person who killed it has already come past here. Did this boy kill something equivalent to a God-tier beast? What the hell's going on? If this is fate then so be it', thought the guardian spirit with a hopeful expression.
"Uh… is something wrong?" Tang Lin inquired.
"Huh? Oh, it's nothing. As I was saying before, with the amount of points you have accumulated so far, you'll be able to access the core regions of the Secret Shop", continued the guardian spirit.
"Let me also remind you. After every trial, the rewards and items in the Secret Shop refresh and you can't come back to buy it. All I will say is to choose wisely", it advised, while staring at Tang Lin's face.
Being closer inside the ancient inheritance, the egg within Tang Lin's mind slightly trembled.
*Ba-dump*
'What was that familiar feeling just then? Was it just my imagination?' thought the guardian spirit.
While the guardian spirit was confused, Tang Lin's gaze remained fixated on the Secret Shop.
The Secret Shop was massive. It was bigger and more luxurious than any other house he had seen in his life. Just by standing in front of the entrance, the sign above the door that read Secret Shop, released a proud and majestic aura that pressured him.
Looking away from the sign, Tang Lin thanked the guardian spirit for its advice and headed inside.
Weapons, pills, techniques, you name it. The Secret Shop seemed to have a large array of items of all kinds.
Roughly looking around at the items, Tang Lin continued to head deeper inside. Suddenly a transparent wall appeared, obstructing his path.
'Hm? What's this?' he thought.
Text suddenly formed in the air, asking him to place his hand upon the wall.
Deciding to follow its instruction, Tang Lin stretched out his right arm and placed his hand flat on the transparent wall.
"Assessing points acquired. Individual's points meet the requirement. Access has been granted!" it read out as the wall dissolved away.
'Let's keep moving', he thought.
Now entering the inner region of the Secret Shop, Tang Lin started to understand the wonders of the universe and how insignificant he was. Everything that he thought that looked amazing and strong in the outer region paled significantly in comparison to the items in the inner regions.
Here, the atmosphere felt like he was a vulnerable prey surrounded by hidden predators. Reading some of the item's names, Tang Lin gulped with longing.
Divine Sunderer - Low earth grade spear.
Behemoth - Peak human grade body cultivation technique.
Marty's Aegis - Low earth grade armour.
10,000 Titan Refinement - Peak human grade qi cultivation technique.
'Resist the temptations! RESIST IT!' Tang Lin thought as he slapped himself in the face to regain focus.
The guardian spirit watching this from afar at the entrance simply couldn't stop grinning at this spectacle.
'Does he have a screw loose?' she thought in contemplation.
Quickly walking away, Tang Lin soon reached the final transparent wall separating the core region from the inner region.
Once again, the same text displayed itself as Tang Lin placed his hand flat onto the wall for his points to be evaluated.
"Assessing points acquired. Individual's points meet the requirement. Access has been granted!" it read out as the wall dissolved away.
