Chapter 258: The traitor vs the bear part 2

"Do you like this gift the emperor gave me? It's a pretty fun toy," Raymond yelled and boasted.

"You have zero shame. If the mighty first king, Edmund Haraldrar, would see you. The ancestor of us both. He would drive his foot high in your wrinkly old ass," Athelred yelled.

"Oh, you, Haraldrar, think you are soooo much more worthy of being called true warriors, but the reality is. The age of your ships raiding the coasts ended after the invention of these machines. I saw it, and I went with the wind, not against it," Raymond replied.

"You didn't go with the wind! You were blown away by it because you were too weak!" Athelred yelled.

At that moment, Amala shot an arrow at Raymond but was swatted away by his sword.

"Raymond Guiscard. As you are now the emperor's vassal, I order you to stop attacking. These people here are our prisoners, and you are not to do any harm to them," Wulfila yelled.

"What the hell are you doing?" Amala whispered.

"We are saving your lives," Wulftrude whispered back.

"Oh, really. That would be inconvenient for me, but what I understood from the emperor was that you two are already dead," Raymond said while laughing.

The cannons started to fire at them and killed all the stragglers. As the fog thickened, people were getting scattered, making it easier for the Guiscard bowmen to snipe them from the ship's deck.

Athelred ran with his men toward the woods with a small Husclar force. Amala, Pema, and the two twins, who were still chained up, hid behind a large rock.

The only way to reach the twins' castle was to somehow get through the gravity ship of Raymond that was stalking the area.

"If you get us to our army, we can guarantee your safety," Wulftrude whispered.

"How do you think you can guarantee that if your father basically wishes your death?" Amala questioned.

"Our army is loyal to us first, then to the emperor. We guarantee their pay. We raised and trained them ourselves, and they would be ready to betray the emperor himself for us.

"Then why don't you rebel against him? It's obvious you don't like him," Amala asked.

"He is still our father, and rebelling against him is futile. In any case, our father, though how powerful, doesn't want to be seen as too cruel and cold. He would never openly be hostile to us," Wulfila said back.

Amala looked at the gravity ship that was hovering close by.

"You think if I drop a rope from the top, you can climb and take that ship down with me?" Amala asked Pema.

He looked at it for a moment and nodded.

"Good," Amala said, letting go of the chains restricting the twins.

"What do you think you're doing?" Wulfila said.

"If we happen to die, at least promise to rebel against the emperor. Would want our deaths to be some use to Rufus," Amala said with a smile.

Amala aimed an empty bow without an arrow at the gravity ship. She turned herself into a stone arrow and shot herself into the vessel. She flew right into the gravity ship and turned back when she passed the mast. She grabbed on the gaff and quickly shot down the sailors manning the sails who spotted her.

As the sailors hit the deck, Raymond spotted Amala running through the mast, cutting a rope.

"Shoot that shit-skinned girl, RIGHT NOW!" Raymond ordered his bowmen to take aim at her.

The archers and crossbowmen aimed at her, and she dodged the arrow fire. She jumped down, but she held on to a rope. Amala swung from beneath the gravity ship and grabbed her brother, Pema, who was running under the ship. With the swing's momentum, Amala rotated her brother onto the deck.

Pema immediately covered himself with his carbon armor and started to bash his way through the Guiscard soldiers of Raymond. Raymond jumped and abandoned his newly acquired ship as the two grey skins smashed through the soldiers. He spotted Athelred on the ground when he landed, stretching his knuckles.

"Well, hello, asshole," Aethelred said before punching Raymond.

The twins stopped his fists before Raymopnd could die.

"I think he has had enough," Wulfila said.

"This rat needs to die," Athelred said.

"There has been enough bloodshed," Wulftrude continued.

"HE IS THE REASON MY MEN ARE NOW FISH FOOD!"

Pema then jumped off to the ground and placed his hand on Athelred's shoulder.

"Hw will die, but he is more valuable alive for now. I promise, and he will die," Pema continued.

Aethelred and the two twins were let on board the gravity ship, with Raymond in chains.

"We should head to their military camp," Amala said.

"We can already see the light from the castle," Wulfila said and pointed north.

They started to float toward the naval castle. They moved slowly, hoping none of the other imperial vessels or search parties would spot that one of their ships had been taken.
