Chapter 2: Nightmare

It was dark everywhere. The sky was thundering. There was this eerie silence. Suddenly a hand grabbed me by my shoulder and shook me as if trying to tell me something urgently, to remind me of something that I don't want to remember or something that my existence didn't want to remember. I leaned in and reached out to him but he backed off quickly and vanished as if what I saw moments ago was just a fragment of my memory. I fell on my knees. Although it hurt a lot nothing could compare to the pain in chest as if my heart was being ripped. Suddenly there was light at the end of the dark room.

A silhouette of a man. He just stood there elegantly reaching out his hand for me to grab, but I was scared. No one in my life was permanent, everyone left after they got what they wanted. But seeing him smiling at me with adoration in his eyes I teared up. Very few people had cared for me .

I knew everything was just an illusion and all this would eventually end. The sleeping pills were taking over her system gradually. She knew her death was near but couldn't help calling out for the man. As he came closer a chord struck in her memory.

A familiar feeling surrounded her as if she knew him, but alas she couldn't remember him. When he saw the girl's state his beautiful brows scrunched and his heart pained to see the girl in such a wretched state. He knew her very well.

How could he not. She was a ball of sunshine, the happy go lucky girl, but looking at her now he felt anger and guilt surge up in him. It was his fault for leaving her alone when she needed him the most.

If only the accident hadn't taken place she would never end up like this. A tear slipped through his eyes and fell on her face that was now pale. Her eyelids were feeling heavy but she couldn't close her eyes when such a dashing man was kneeling beside her sobbing. It was a rear sight. Still he looked ethereal in her eyes. Flashes of memories passes in front of her eyes, from birth to the present,it was like an emotional rollercoaster. Then she heard the man saying something as it snapped her out of her daze.

"Why did you do this, was this really necessary all for the jerk and bitch, and those unworthy people who betrayed you" he sniffed as he said these words. I reached my hand to cup his face, it was clean and defined, and he didn't have the jade like complexion like men in the country, rather it had a shade of honey tan to it and he looked gorgeous. She blinked several times trying to focus on his face so that it remains etched in her heart forever.

She asked him in a hoarse why was he sad when the one dying was her. It pained his heart to see her like that. Before she could ask his name or identity her vision started to blur and her body felt heavy but despite everything she heard what he said in the end.

He said " you promised me...."

but before I could clearly analyse what he said thunder rumbled in the sky and jerked my eyes open and I sat on the bed. Tears stained my cheeks, my clothes stuck to my body because of the sweat and I could barely breath.

It had been 2 months since I committed suicide and came back 8 years in the past. Currently I was 20 years old but I had already lived a life of 26 years in my previous birth. This time I had gotten an opportunity to not make the same mistakes that I made earlier and live a happy, healthy, peacefull life.
