Chapter 42: Chapter 42
Gil woke up and instead of going to the training room he made a list of areas he wanted to work on.
"1. Improve rain drop
2. Learn a new element
3. Form a new elemental skill
4. Work on fighting"
Even thought the list was small Gil felt happier that there was one so he could focus his mind and add to it. He didnt put it in any order but the ones he felt where more important at the current time. Checking the time Gil decided to do some inside exercises whilst waiting for Tash for there run, after an hour he heard a knock on the door.
"Coming" Gil called finishing the last push up
"Morning, how did you find the work" Tash asked as they left the room
"I made a gamble" Gil admitted
"Really, can i see" Tash asked puzzled
"You dont want to go for a run" Gil asked
"A run can wait, im curious as to what you done now" Tash said turning on the spot heading back to Gils room "Im alright to enter"
"Sure" Tash walked in as soon as she had the okay
"You really dont have anything do you" Tash said looking round and not seeing anything personal. "Wheres your map"
"Under the books" Gil pointed to the desk and to the scroll underneath it.
"Ohhh, why did you pick this route" Tash asked lifting the map and moving to the bed.
"I was looking at the books and saw there was references to nests and rare sightings of birds, I then thought they may have evolved to walk on 2 legs to help climb tree to eat the birds and eggs" Gil explained hoping Tash wouldnt laugh
"I came to a similar idea, come here" Tash moved over to her room. When Gil entered he noticed it was the opposite to his, full of personal items but very tidy. "Sit" She pointed to the foot of the bed handing the map to Gil.
"I went this route, as there was more water options and more food" Tash said
"But, using mine they go past water, travel close to trees for birds as well as cows lastly they would end up on high ground which is good since they have better eyes" Gil replied
"Yes, they have better eyes then other senses then how would they be able to specifically pick out that route for cows" Tash answered back
The two spent a while talking back like this before deciding to go and head for the training ground. When they arrived they saw it was changed into rows of seats with them slightly getting higher and higher the further back they go, in the front there was a board with a large map they where given.
"lets sit at the front to watch this" Gil said to Tash
"I was going to say this" Tash added
As the two sat they saw other students arriving, the two where used to arriving first and watched everyone taking there seats. Mixed in the students was Sarah who made her was to the front of them.
"Okay, now where all here this is how it will go" Sara called out "Please bring down your map and place it her" Sarah pointed to a basket next to the map "I will ask you to come down and explain your guess and reason as to why you came to that conclusion" Sarah finished and got Tim to come down first
"I think here, it follows the path that would suit it better and allow it to drink and eat" Tim pointing to the original path Gil had.
"Thank you, you can sit back down" Sarah said marking it "Who else thought this" Around 70% put there hands up in agreement. "Please put your maps down here, we will check and remove give punishments to these that lie" Sarah added allowing students to put there maps down.
"Alright, can you please detail your idea" Sarah called.
This time it was a new person Gil didnt know the name of and he picked the other option with around 20% agreeing to that. Slowly other students came down and marked there options Gil was called.
"Here, looking at some books i believe this will be the best place fulfilling all if there needs" Gil marked his.
"Intriguing, lastly Natasha" Sarah called
"This you be the most practical position" Tash said marking hers
"Interesting, how come both of you have gone for more out of the box options" Sarah asked as both where different to everyone elses.
"We came to the conclusion that the beasts would aim for birds and then worked of that conclusion" Tash said "We both went for different routes from then"
"Well both are the best so far and i know one is correct" Sarah called, she looked like she was about to say something before a student interrupted
"How come they where allowed on the second floor" He yelled "Its special treatment because of there family"
"Yeah they only got this far because of that" Another one called
"Yeah its unfair" Other people started to join in
"Enough" Sarah's voice rang through several gates increasing her voice "You call it unfair, firstly as im sure your aware but forgetting, Gil isnt part of any great family so please say again how his familys influence is helping" She paused "The reason they have been allowed to access the second floor is because of how hard they work, if you would like to have a shot ay getting the privilege they why not train like them"
"Alright how do they train" One of the new people called thinking it wasnt that hard "I train for 4 hours each day" He added in a proud voice
"So Tash has seen to train around 6 hours in a weekday and 8 hours in a weekend, adding to that some hours in the library" Sarah said "And Gil 10 hours in the week day and the longest weve seen on a week end was around 23 hours"
After hearing Tash's some of the students faces lit up a bit thinking it was a reasonable number but quickly looked disheartened when Gils training plan.
"If thats sorted, now ill say which has the correct path" Sarah announced "Both Natasha's and GIl could be equally probable, Gil's being the ideal route the beast would take and Natashas being the more logical. This time the logical one, only because the gate opened facing that way and the Soul Screamer set of in that direction first. If you are all ready i will open a gate to we can see some hunters defeating the beasts"
Now students where running down the stairs to be first in line to get through the gate.
"Alright stay close and do not move a step" Sarah said opening a large gate.
When they stepped through they where on a open ground next to a forest and flower field. To the left of them where a group of 5 adults.
"Just on time Sarah" one of them said swing Sarah.
"Yep, students this is a group of hunters" Sarah said. "Going from left to right, Becca, Viola, Tye, Garry and lastly Chris. This was my old Hunters group before i became a teacher, and they are letting us watch them eliminate the Soul Screamer"
"Shall we begin" Tye called out
"Move out" Chris said causing 3 of them to run to them and Becca and Garry staying behind
[Mana detection activated]
Gil activated mana detection not wanting to miss anything splitting his attention between the 3 running and the 2 waiting behind. Becca and Garry each raised there hand causing yellow mana to come from there hands, suddenly a large bolt of lightning shot forward perfectly in the gap between the 3 running forward hitting the closest Soul Screamer. Garry separated his hands causing the lighting to jump from Soul Screamer to Soul Screamer stunning them, the original one dropped down twitching every now and then.
"These two are twins and both have lightning power, they are a grade 2C. What they performed it a move called lightning chain" Sarah announced
Tye through his javelin at one of the Soul Screamer that was stunned for a few second going straight through the eye and returning to him.
"Tye can move objects with his mind" Sarah added
At this point the remaining 10 Soul Screamer came charging at Tye, Chris and Viola 3 going to both Tye and Viola, 4 going to Chris.
Tye started to twirl the javelin in his hand blocking the claws and boned elbows of the ones coming at him. Every now and then he would release the javelin and it would either shot at a Soul Screamer or continue twirling like Tye was doing before.
"Tye likes fighting close and uses his weapon to draw the monsters attention then will use what ever weapon he has to defend himself. He likes to try several types of weapons out, when i left he was using 6 daggers" Sarah said
Viola was moving with a katana by her side and was using that as well as water to fight the Soul Screamer, she was moving in a very weird way and no one could understand why.
"Viola practice fighting the waterfall style and likes to move like water, if you look each movement is very fluid and theres very little wasted actions" Sarah commentated on the actions of Viola.
Even though Viola was surrounded she seemed to be easily taking care of the Soul Screamer of front of her, dodging, slashing, stabbing and more. Lastly Gil looked to Chris and saw he had already killed 2 Soul Screamer, looking at the bodies the skills where crushed.
As a new beast ran to Chris he dodged the claw coming to his chest and throw a punch at he face, as the fist made contact with the bone at started to break and crack until the beast fell dead.
"Chris is the leader and the strongest of us all, he is a grade 0 and has the power "Pressure Manipulation". What hes doing at the moment is increasing the pressure as the middle of his fist into a small orb and then condensing that to make it stronger" Sarah explained, indicating with her fist. "If he wanted he could eliminate all of them easily but wanted to show you different powers"
Gil watched them all and observed the change in mana and how they use it until the last monster fell. Sarah opened a gate and a Soul Screamer fell through in front of them all, soon another fell and after a minute all of them where in front of all the students.
"Alright have a look up close at the beasts and ask any questions you have to the hunters" Sarah said moving to Garry and Becca. After looking at the beast for a bit Gil got some extra percentage increase in his shadow fighting for it before looking for Viola
"Hello, my name is Gil and i was wondering if i could ask you about your water style of fighting" Gil asked Viola
"Sure, what questions do you have" Viola said
"I was wondering what type of techniques there are and where i could learn it" Gil asked
"There are several techniques, the one i use the most is water movement's allowing me to change the flow of my fighting. Do you have the power of water" Viola asked before revealing where he can learn it.
"I have the power of the elements and one being water" Gil answered making an orb of water to show.
"I wouldnt recommend the style ive used as this is solely for water, there are very few styles out there that have multiple elements incorporated out there. If you head to the royal capital you would have the best chance to find one. Do you have any particular water style attack at the moment" Viola asked
"I have one" Gil responded
"Show me" Viola's attitude changed to that of an eager child at the thought of a new water attack
"Can i borrow your sword as i dont have mine" Gil asked, to which Viola handed him her katana.

As he put both hands on the handle and activated [Rain Drop] he could feel the water compress to the edge of the sword. Rising it above his head and swinging it down Gil released the water edge allowing it to fly of cutting deep into the earth.
"Ohh whats that called and how do you perform it" Viola said
"I called it rain drop, as i when i made it i thought it would absorb the rain but i haven't tried it when raining yet. Its a simple slash where the water is concentrated on the edge of the sword, mixed with my personal mana and mana absorbed from the air" Gil answered handing the sword back
Viola attempted it and could only perform a simple water slash
"Ill let you know when i can perform this, and as repayment if i see anything with several elements ill send it over to the school" Viola offered
"Ill pay you back if you do" Gil added
The two talked a bit more before Sarah called them back to head to the school.
"Alright you can take your lunch and do some training here. Since several of you want to attempt to get access to the second floor of the library try to last longer then Gil, if he leaves before you or stops ill give access. Gil think of this as training you have to last longer then everyone else" Sarah said "Good luck"
"Fun, now i cant leave and go to the library" Gil grumbled to Tash
"Like you would leave right away" Tash laughed "Ill go get you some lunch " Tash said walking of
Gil walked to an area and looked at all the people staring at him. Gil started by making an earth pole and started turning it into metal, soon the whole outer was coated it metal. Using this Gil started training, as soon as he started everyone else did, after 20 minute Tash came back with some food for Gil, stopping to eat he then went back to training.
Slowly other students started to leave after hours of training, Tash stopped every now and then to look at how many students where left and get some more food and water. As it slowly got dark Gil released as many flame orbs brightening the area for everyone, revealing several students that where sat there still claiming to be in the area even through they weren't training. Soon other students started to come in and train causing less space to be available.
After the 30th student came some teachers came to see what was going on.
"Sarah made an announcement, anyone that trains longer then Gil will get access to the second floor of the library" Leon said before the teachers could ask.
"How long has be been going" One asked
"About 7 hours only stopping for around 20 minutes" Leon answered.
"I recon he he'll last for another 1 hour"
"30 minutes"
"He'll last until the last student leaves" Leon said, as the teachers where taking bets
"Dont let anyone else in, if he does leave that is a lot of privileges to give" Sarah said walking down
Gil kept going through the night until it was only him and a few students left, who where slowing down and eventually fell asleep mid training.
"Do you plan to stop" Leon asked as Gil was the last one left
"Now everyone is done, i think i can" Gil said looking round
"We'll work out a reward to give you in the morning, make sure you rest" Sarah said
Gil made his way past several teachers that where looking at him handing different items to Leon as they had lost the bet.
