Chapter 3: Survival
(3rd person POV)
(Ebon)"Everyone we don't know where we are but we do know we cannot see any way out of this place today."
Ebon was shouting at the people while everyone was listening attentively, some hopeful, some with a panic, while some others with indifference as if it all didn't matter.
(Ebon)"First thing we will do is survey our environment and see what exactly this place is, afterwards we will round up everything we can find that is useful. Who among you can inspect the abandoned houses to check if they are liveable."
As more and more people began participating soon everyone was looking around for tasks to do, sticking next to Ebon, Vorruck was helping him as they went around the area. They were in a forest area with a clearing, the structures that were abandoned were in the clearing center with on its south part a river running to the west. The time of day was already evening so they all started to gather up again at the same spot.
(Ebon)"So far we have found one river and all the houses can be liveable, tonight we will gather firewood for the night and gather all the supplies at one location for a round up."
After giving another speech, everyone gathered up into the two biggest houses after finishing the chore of getting firewood. Soon it was night, and they all went into the large houses. It was a log house made purely out of lumber from the nearby forest, so they decided to board up the door just in case.
(Stranger1)"We did a round up, there are 150 people in total with enough food rations for the next few days."
(Ebon)"Good job also, where is that girl with the connection enabled at the moment?"
(Stranger1)"She is eating dinner on her own, should I invite her over here?"
(Ebon)"Yes, do that."
Ebon and his buddy Willis were both from the same college and often spoke together regarding the situation. While Ebon was tall, thin and fragile, Willis was strong, short and tough together they made the essential dynamic that has led everyone so far Verruck was just following along with them.
They were all sitting at a round wood table with all of Ebon's group at it, discussing the future of the group. Tomorrow they decided to form a search party that would venture deeper into the woods using the old trail the spotted, they believed it would lead to some kind of civilization. The blonde girl from earlier who said she was connected remained silent during their discussions like Verruck, the most they got out of her was her name Elia.
The next morning after sleeping on the hard floor next to the fireplace, Verruck and Willis were walking together as they got near the trail into the forest. Having only volunteers with him, Willis was leading everyone who wanted to try searching for help into the forest.
