Chapter 8: Chapter 8: Going After Grey Wing

"I'm afraid I'm not capable of defeating a titan Roubaul."

The old man's pupils dilated to a ridiculous degree as he stared Raven down.

"You really do know a lot about me. Not only do you know about Nirvana you also know my name. Who exactly are you?"

"My information is very valuable Roubaul, far more than you could imagine, but I'll tell you if teach me an illusion spell."

Roubaul took in a deep sigh and constructed a thick book with a strange purple eye on the cover.

"This is one of the magic spells I personally created during my hay day. It's called Deceptive Veil, it's one of the best disguise spells I know of."

Raven took hold of the book and quickly flipped through it's pages, memorizing every word with the help of his eye scanner.

"Not bad, even Makarov wouldn't be able to detect me once I master this spell."

"Will you tell me your name now?"

"Fine, my real name is Baal. I'm not from this world as you've probably already guessed."

Roubaul nodded, he had already felt Raven's soul and recognized it as something that didn't originate from Earth Land.

"So what realm do you come from? I can tell you're not a celestial spirit."

"I'm not from any of the realms you're thinking of, all of my memories are fractured and messy but I know that I don't have any memory of magic or wizards like the celestial spirits or the strange people from Edolas. I was born in a world devoid of wizards that relied on technology not powered by magic."

"Not powered by magic? Even those poor people from Edolas need magic power to fuel everything, what else could you use?"

"There were multiple ways to fuel something but the most effective way was to release the energy inside something by burning it."

"Ah, I see. So your world was powered by things like coal?"

"Yes, surprisingly my world managed to get much farther than Earth Land. The quality of life for most people was far better, disease, famine and illness were no longer such huge problems."

"That's incredible! Is it because of a lack of magic that life became better?"

"Maybe, there were no gods or ancient races that could wipe out thousands of lives at once. It was only late in human development that we acquired the power to kill others in large numbers in a short period."

Roubaul's eyes seemed to light up at this new information. He thought over his idea for a few minutes of conversation before proposing it.

"Do you think removing magic from this world will solve problems like war and famine?"

"That's difficult to say, personally, I believe it wouldn't. Even in my old world there were many deaths caused by war. The number of those casualties exceeds the entire population of this world. Humans will always fight between themselves as long as there is a conflict of interests, regardless of how limited their power is."

Raven didn't know, but he had already set Roubaul on a new train of thought that would lead to some interesting developments.

After leaving the mountain range Raven returned to Magnolia to draft his major plan.

Defeating a titan was a ridiculous idea, something that he had absolutely no confidence in doing.

Raven wasn't some type of powerful wizard, all of his fights were one sided purely because he relied on tools like lacrima.

In terms of magical capabilities he was below average, even after buying some advanced light magic books from Makarov's son Ivan, he still had a very basic understanding of magic.

After realizing his magic was superficial and fairly weak in comparison to normal mages Raven thought of a way to get stronger in the most efficient way possible.

In Fairy Tail, most power progression is done through some type of rage boost or through continuous fighting.

Raven didn't believe that an emotional buff would be easy to achieve. He hadn't spent much time in this world and he hadn't attached himself to anything or anyone in particular yet.

Makarov was the only person he'd spent time with but Raven intentionally avoided spending too much time with the man in fear of his system being exposed.

In comparison, continuous fighting was much easier to do. Raven had thought of who or what he should fight and settled on the entire guild of Grey Wing.

Grey Wing had about fifty members in total, none of them were powerful or worth being worried of besides their guild master Mitto.

Master Mitto was an old man, well in his 60's and quickly deteriorating in strength. He was originally part of a guild called Time Gap before it was disbanded.

Since then, Mitto started his journey as a solo wizard, taking on any jobs he could and learning as much he could about plant magic.

He eventually created the Grey Wing guild in his early 40's and became known by his title, the Wooden Statue.

Although it may seem impressive that he had a title to himself it's actually a hidden insult. He was called the Wooden Statue due to his cowardly nature and determination to avoid confrontation, bowing down to any power he deemed above him.

This is the reason that Mitto, despite being an A-Rank wizard, never managed to raise Grey Wing into anything above a low tier guild.

The only thing he had going for him was the loyalty of Nallen and Zabrak but both were now dead, at the hands of the very same man.

"First I'll take out the regular guild members than fight one on one with Mitto myself. If I'm not wrong my armor should be able to tank all of his hits, if I can't handle him I'll make a quick escape through the air."

"I hope you've prepared something for me Mitto, I'm sure you know your pupil has died by now. I wonder if you'll retaliate before I take action."
