Chapter 35: Screw Fate

—OSAYI'S POV—

Osayi sat on the edge of Ísar's bed and stared at his sleeping friend.

He'd just returned from destroying a horde of gargoyles that had appeared near the borders of the kingdom's North. He'd been doing that a lot since he'd arrived again in Ísar's castle, returning in the middle of the night to check on his friend.

He knew that Ísar had been taken back to that accursed tomb by that ghastly Grand Duke but try as he might, there were some fate required events that he would not have been able to stop.

He was going to try anyway, as much as he could, he was going to try.

Ísar flinched in his sleep, curling more into a ball as he subconsciously sniffed his tears away.

Osayi smiled softly down at the boy who didn't ask for any of this, and placed a warm hand on his friend's cold forehead. He laughed quietly at the way Ísar almost tried to burrow into his hand.
