Chapter 168: Chapter 168: Arrest

Coincidences are just nonsense.

After boarding the train and placing their luggage, Senichi had been standing near the corridor outside Kogoro Mouri's room all along.

He remembered clearly that the robber had passed by Mouri's room door and bumped into him. Then, after swearing and recognizing Kogoro Mouri, he walked away dejectedly.

That's why Senichi chose to lie in wait. Of course, if the butterfly effect had prevented him from coming, Senichi had a Plan B, like finding a train staff member and conducting an investigation.

Fortunately, the appearance of the suspect saved Senichi from resorting to other troublesome plans to achieve his goal.

In the corridor, Senichi explained to everyone's questions while removing the man's hat, sunglasses, and mask. He also grabbed the beard sticking to the man's lips.

Then he revealed the man's ferocious face and pointed at him, saying, "Look, he looks exactly like the wanted criminal on TV. As soon as he pulled down his mask, I suspected it was him. So, I tested him with a remark, and I didn't expect such a big reaction."

"Oh, it's really him." Conan pointed at the man and confirmed, "I saw him on TV!"

With Conan's memory, he would remember news related to cases quite vividly.

Kogoro Mouri and Ran also had some impression of the menacing face before them.

"What's going on?! What happened? What are you all doing?!"

Just as the conversation continued, two uniformed train attendants, one male and one female, arrived at the scene. Seeing Senichi and the others subduing the man on the ground, they exclaimed, "Fighting is prohibited on the train!"

"Oh, no, brothers and sisters, you misunderstood." Conan, in his role at the moment, came in handy. "That brother there is a Police detective, and he caught the bad guy. I heard he's a wanted bank robber!"

"Wanted... a wanted criminal!?" The two attendants were taken aback by Conan's words, but they hesitated, "Um... are you all detectives? Can you prove your identities?"

After all, without substantial evidence, it was not possible to unilaterally believe one side's words.

Moreover, judging by their lineup, with a high school girl and a child, they didn't quite look like investigators. It would be even better if they could show their credentials.

"I'm police detective Sen..."

Senichi, with his back to the attendants, used one hand to press down on Asama and prepared to take out his identification.

However, just then, Kogoro Mouri stood up and coughed, interrupting Senichi's words. Then he turned confidently towards the two attendants, preparing to show his face.

"Cough, with the renowned Detective Kogoro Mouri here, I wonder if you can trust us."

"Oh... you... you are Detective 'Sleeping Kogoro'?" The two attendants exchanged glances, feeling somewhat embarrassed. "We've only heard about your name but have never seen you in person..."

"What?!" Kogoro Mouri's attempt to show off backfired, leaving him awkwardly standing there.

"I have my detective credentials here. Take a look." At this moment, Senichi took out his detective identification and showed it to the attendants.

"Oh~ It's Detective Senichi!" As soon as they saw Senichi, the female attendant instantly turned into a fangirl. "Just now, you had your back turned to us, and I didn't recognize you. I didn't expect you to be on this train too.

I really like your books, and I'm looking forward to your new book!"

"Oh... thank you..." Senichi had never really felt famous before, and this was the first time he had encountered a real-life fan. He didn't know how to respond for a moment.

Seeing the excited fan continuing to speak, Senichi tentatively asked, "Would you like an autograph?"

The fan hesitated for a moment and then exclaimed with delight, "Really? Would that be too much trouble for you? Please, I would love to have your autograph. Please wait a moment; I'll go get your book!"

With that, the fan rushed away in a flurry, leaving behind a bewildered Kogoro Mouri.

"Well, recently I've been doing more publicity, so it's normal for people to recognize me." Senichi pulled Asama up from the ground and smiled, comforting Kogoro Mouri, who looked quite gloomy.

"Hmph, that just shows how young girls nowadays are too concerned about appearances." Kogoro Mouri snorted, looking proud. "The charm of middle-aged men like me is not appreciated by young girls!"

"The charm of a middle-aged pervert, huh?" Conan drooped his dead fish eyes and secretly scoffed with a smirk on his face.

"Alright, let's focus on the important matter. Detective Mouri, I'll borrow your room for a bit and ask this guy why he's here."

Senichi couldn't be bothered with Kogoro Mouri over this issue. Who wouldn't feel a bit jealous when someone handsome comes into the picture?

Saying that, Senichi turned his head to the male train attendant who was still present. "Please keep what happened here confidential to avoid unnecessary trouble."

"Understood, rest assured, I will inform the train manager and have them notify the Hokkaido police," the train attendant nodded and turned to leave to find the train manager.

After arranging the follow-up matters, they postponed dinner for the time being.

The group escorted Asama back to the room and threw him onto the sofa.

Since his hands were tied behind his back, and everyone in the room was more than capable of overpowering him, there was no fear of him escaping.

"Speak up, why did you appear here?"

"Is that even a question? Obviously, I was running away," Asama replied with a hint of annoyance. "Just my luck to run into you guys."

"Alright, let's change the question then. Do you have an accomplice? Give us some information about your accomplice," Senichi continued his questioning.

"Huh? Accomplice? What are you talking about?" Asama's eyes darted around, and then he wore an expression of surprise. "Don't joke with me. I didn't have any accomplices. I planned and carried out the robbery by myself."

Now even Conan and the others noticed that Asama's expression seemed off.

"[This doesn't match what we agreed on.]"

Senichi looked at Asama with a sly smile. "Can you explain the meaning of that sentence? After your failed robbery, you said those words, right?"

"Well... um... I just meant that things didn't go as planned," Asama stammered, trying to sound tough. "What's the problem with complaining a little at that time?"

"Heh... Wasn't there an insider among the store employees?" Senichi smiled knowingly. "You and that person planned the robbery, but you didn't expect things to go wrong, which led to the words you said earlier."

"...," Asama fell silent, ignoring Senichi's question as if he hadn't heard it.

Seeing this, Senichi didn't mind and continued, "But have you ever wondered why things didn't go as planned? How about I analyze the situation for you? Let me help you understand if it was really just bad luck that caused the robbery to fail."

Upon hearing Senichi's words, Asama's gaze flickered slightly, and he looked up at Senichi.
