Chapter 70: Unexpected Developments

"What is fantasy air?"

Everyone in the room wished to know the answer. Arnacia was also waiting for the answer. She suddenly woke up to consciousness, but refused to open her eyes. Who knew what the Knights would do if they find out that the witch was awake?

'Fantasy air must be the gas that leaked out of the cubical pellet.' Arnacia remembered the day 2 activity of the crash course. In fact, it happened earlier today when the old man asked her to breathe in harmony to absorb the air from the cubical pellet.

"It's a type of air, a fabled type, you can say." Dr. Mose slowly opened his first to check if the golden air would leak out.

"Explain, tell me everything you know!" Gerome said. It excited him to know the secret which Sheafer meant to hide. Wasn't Acinao askings favors to capture a little girl mysterious enough?

"The old testaments on medicine hint at a special property of the extremely rare herbs." Dr. Mose said as stared into his empty palm. "There are herbs which are in a completely different realm from the common herbs. For example, Motherwort and Holy Basil are common herbs that can be grown in the garden. These can have notable results in health when used for a prolonged period of time, but they are simply weak. 'Weak medicine compliments a poor doctor,' some say.

"Doctors sort more effective cures, the unimaginably powerful medicines. There are mentions of Godwort and Heavenly Basil, which are a thousand times more effective than their ordinary counterparts. Some argue that a special type of energy makes them more effective. Others say it is the environment that molds them. There is a hypothesis of a golden colored air that can be fed to herbs under special conditions."

"How do you know if it was Fantasy Air?" Theon asked. He stared at Arnacia. The sword in his hands was ready to strike at any moment because he suspected the golden air might be a distraction for the witch to prepare a counterattack.

"I can't be sure, but I was sure that this girl would die. Have you ever seen a doctor pierce a hole in a patient's heart? Have you heard a gas leak out of a person's heart?" Mose shook his head as if he was telling a joke to himself. His plan was to bleed excessive blood stuck in Arnacia's heart by literally stabbing a hole in it and hopefully the incomplete Paragon Brew would heal up the hole before Arnacia died of internal bleeding.

A reckless plan, but it was necessary to cure the abnormality in the girl's heart. He held Arnacia's hand to check the pulse. Everything was back to normal. It was far too normal for the pulses to be beating as if they were about to burst only moments ago. He was sure that the excessive pain sent Arnacia in shock, but now the girl was only pretending to be asleep.

"That is certainly intriguing, but honestly, the medicine your little daughter fed her was more interesting. What was that rainbow colored liquid?" Gerome asked. The Knights had too many questions in their mind right now.

"It's a special medicine I brewed, but it still lacks 2 colors for completion." Dr. Mose did not lie. He knew the news of this medicine was enough to start a huge conflict in the kingdom. Maybe the enemies would start pressuring the borders again if they learn that the Lorein Kingdom possessed such stuff. "But that was the last of it. Ten years and I could only collect herbs to make 200 milliliters of it."

"So you moved to the forest to collect these herbs? That's the perfect reason for not leaving the forest." Theon scoffed and lifted the metal sword. "Take us to where the herbs grow."

"Grasses wash down the Evermore river every day. I was just lucky to catch them as they flowed down the river." Mose said, as if he did not hear the threat.

Gerome waved his hand when Theon took a step forward. He realized that threatening was useless. The doctor's attitude now was different from earlier. He was sure that the doctor would've lost confidence and started sweating if there were more of the five-colored medicine.

"Take her," Gerome suddenly stomped on Arnacia's stomach. The girl coughed once and her eyes suddenly opened before they slipped into unconsciousness again.

Theon was shocked at the sudden action. He couldn't guess, nor suspect an ounce that the witch was pretending to sleep. He picked up Arnacia and looked at Gerome in fear.

Raffaella tried to get up and stop the Knights from taking Arnacia, but her father stopped her. She couldn't break out of her father's grip. This further intensified the feeling of powerfulness and she sobbed noiselessly with a face buried in the rugs where Arnacia was sleeping a while ago.

Gerome and Theon walked upstream under the starry sky. The Golden Knight's hands were hidden under his cape. It was almost impossible to tell that he had unsheathed his broadsword and was taking every step with utmost caution.

This witch business was getting out of hand. There were many secrets left for him to uncover. Aciano would be really desperate right now, he thought.

"Silver Knight Theon. This was quite an adventure we had. I hope you will let me entertain you for a few more days." Gerome said.

"Thank you sir, but I am afraid I must return tomorrow." Theon said. He wanted to go back and get into the position of an Administrative Knight already. It was basically a happy retirement from the crappy Silver Knight job.

"I hope you bring Aciano with you next time." Gerome said.

"Sir please, you are invited to visit Lanceworth Castle and receive the hospitality of us Alucards." Theon said. Who wanted to come back to this run down village? He thought, while totally missing the point.

"You are denser than I thought," Gerome smiled. "I am keeping the witch."
