Chapter 14: She's angry

Half an hour later

Da Xia was sitting in the courtyard as she stared at her swollen thumb. Her eyes were filled with unshed tears as she kept cursing everyone in her mind.

First, she cursed her husbands who had suddenly disappeared somewhere without telling her anything. Second, she cursed the stupid kitty who called itself a cub. Then she cursed the Queen bee who had stung her thumb to complete the blood contract, causing her a lot of pain. Finally, she cursed herself for participating in the contest and creating trouble for herself.

A deep sigh escaped her lips when she recalled that she had to earn three hundred prowess points to buy a house for the Queen bee and her family. The greedy system of hers was not giving anything out for free.

When she checked the list of tasks, she found that she could earn fifty prowess points for cleaning her entire house. Ten prowess points would be forwarded to her account every day if she kept the house clean and comfortable.

Another task that she found was related to the empty fields that were sitting behind their house. The total area of the three fields wasn't really big but that's all her husbands owned.

As soon as the thought of her ghost husbands returned to her mind, Da Xia found her mood becoming sour once again. The two of them really dared to leave her behind just like that. She won't let them go once she found them again.

"Wifey...!"

The familiar cheery voice of Li Jun pulled her out of the train of her thoughts. She looked up toward the gate of the house and found both Li Jun and Li Wei walking inside with bundles in their hands.

She frowned for a moment but then suddenly stood up and marched toward them in anger and shouted, "So you two finally remembered to return. Why not spend some more time lurking in the outside world? Not like I'm going to run away with your house."

Li Wei placed the bundles, that he was carrying, in front of the kitchen before taking away the bundles from Li Jun and also placing them beside his own.

A scoff escaped Da Xia's lips as she noticed the dumbfounded expression on Li Jun's face and the calm expression on Li Wei's face. The two brothers were polar apart from each other. Nothing about their personalities matched with each other but there was also no denying that they were real brothers.

"What's wrong with her?" Li Jun asked his brother in a whispered tone.

Da Xia spared a quick look in the direction where her husbands were standing, only to find a very small smile playing on Li Wei's lips as he answered his brother's question, "She's angry."

"Angry? But why? Who made her angry?" Li Jun asked in a panicked tone as he hurriedly moved closer to his wifey who was not even looking at him properly.

"She's angry because we left her here all alone without saying anything. Also, we took a long time to return." Li Wei answered as he too walked closer to the two of them.

Da Xia turned to glare at the big brother as she spoke through gritted teeth, "So you are actually aware of your faults. What a nice surprise!"

"I would have told you about our plan beforehand if I knew that you care about us this much." Li Wei spoke in a soft tone which was in direct contrast to her angry shouts.

She felt her cheeks turning a light shade of pink as she suddenly felt flustered because of his words. "What rubbish! Why would I care? You two can do whatever you want and go wherever you want to go. I don't care at all..."

She trailed off when all of a sudden, Li Jun pulled her into his warm embrace, wrapping his powerful body around her small frame and making her heart stop beating once again for a mere second before it resumed its work at a greater speed.

"W-what... what are you doing?" she asked out in a panicked tone but her hands were already moving to rest on his back.

"Jun'er is guilty of making wifey worry and leaving without a word but we went to collect fruits, vegetables, and other stuff so that you don't have to visit the dangerous forest again." Li Jun told her as he kept his arms tightly wrapped around her.

He let his head rest against hers, inhaling the familiar scent that her body carried. He felt so good after having her in his arms. When he was a child, their foster mother used to hug him. After she left, he only had his brother to hug and care for. But today after hugging his wifey, he was feeling like his heart was filled with joy and a warm feeling.

Da Xia was so taken aback that she could not find the right words to speak but then her attention was grabbed by Li Wei who had noticed her swollen thumb.

"What happened to you?" he asked in a worried tone as he took hold of her hand to take a closer look at her thumb.

Li Jun also pulled away to see what was happening and as soon as his eyes landed on her thumb, Da Xia saw worry filling in his beautiful eyes.

Looking at her husbands who were panicking because of her swollen thumb, she felt warmth filling her heart, and all of a sudden she started feeling bad for shouting at them, especially since she now knew that they went out only because they wanted to help her.

With a sigh, she decided to do something for her husbands to make up for her guilt and also to thank them for their care.

"Xia Xia, what happened to you? Why is your thumb swollen like this?" Li Wei repeated his question when he noticed that the girl was lost in her thoughts.

Da Xia shook her head lightly as she answered, "It's nothing. Just a stupid bee bit me."
