Chapter 7: Ishtar? Here comes a new opportunity!

Among all the gods of Mesopotamia, Ishtar is a very special one.

She is in charge of beauty, harvest, and battle, but not only that, she is the youngest among the gods and the most favored goddess among them.

Because of this, compared to other gods, she is much more willful and wanton and can be said to be the most troublesome one among the many gods.

Especially for Gilgamesh—

He was dismissive of other gods, but he didn't even want to see that goddess.

There was no other reason than that Ishtar had pretended to pursue him.

The goddess in charge of beauty loves beautiful things, and Gilgamesh perfectly meets this standard—but this young king of Uruk is well aware of the nature of gods, and he also knows that Ishtar's so-called preferences are not human preferences, it was more like she just wanted to add a beautiful toy in her collection.

A few years ago, when the gods could still descend in their true form, Gilgamesh was already disturbed by them, and now, hearing that it might appear again, of course, he would change his expression.

Well..it was rare for the king to show such an expression.

The palace aide held tightly to the clay tablets that had been delivered from various places in Uruk and were inscribed with various forms of reports, her eyebrows were lowered, and she remained silent.

Then she heard Gilgamesh murmuring in a low voice:

"That guy... No, the Age of Gods has reached the final period of decline, and those stupid and corrupt gods cannot come in with their own bodies."

Gilgamesh's red eyes shrank like snake shadows, spitting out words with a cold glow.

The assistant officer knew that his majesty had activated clairvoyance, which was not particularly rare among magicians, but for his majesty, it had reached the highest level of being able to see through.

He uses this to gaze into the future and look for answers to the 'present world' from the future.

"I see...is it the support of the gods?"

The light went out, and Gilgamesh understood.

The gods cannot realize reality in their true form, but their essence is higher than the real world, and they still have various means to interfere with reality.

For example, consciousness descends and bends over people in this world.

Gilgamesh shook his head and looked down:

"Huh, in the final analysis, they are just a group of old and rotten things like bed bugs in the soil.

How dare they attack this person who is like the sun in the middle of the sky?

The king is gesticulating..."

"Siduri." He waved and stood up.

"I'm here, his majesty."

The assistant officer bowed and responded.

"It is said that the Babylonian treasure trove is almost completed, and I want to check it out." Gilgamesh's voice suddenly became cold: "If that stupid woman comes, stop her and don't let her disturb this king."

"Yes."

The woman nodded but didn't say much.

Gilgamesh didn't want to see Ishtar - he knew very well that once the goddess came down, she would definitely come to him, and she would most likely take action after the disagreement.

Ishtar, who appears in a possessive state, may not be Gilgamesh's opponent, and he couldn't promise that he wouldn't kill her outright.

But now, although Gilgamesh hates the gods, it has not yet reached this level of hatred, so he doesn't want to completely turn against the gods.

Although he is egoistic, as a king, he still has his own considerations.

"I won't make it difficult for you."

The assistant officer nodded extremely conscientiously..

"Very good." Gilgamesh turned around and was about to walk further into the palace, but he suddenly paused and said with a smile:

"By the way, this king has found you an interesting colleague." he should be here soon, you and that mongrel...get along well with that guy."

"That will add some fun to your mediocre and boring life!"

"Hm ha ha ha—"

With a frivolous laugh, the figure moved away.

The assistant 'Siduri' held the clay tablet in her arms and stood there, smiling to herself.

At this moment, the voice of a guard came from outside the palace door: "Priest Luo Wei, his majesty said that you can go in directly without announcing."

"I know."

A rather young voice responded.

It really hit the mark - the assistant officer raised her eyes and looked at the door, and at a glance, she saw a figure wearing a linen priestly robe crossing the threshold and slowly walking towards the throne.

It was a relatively young man or a man who could be called a teenager, with a slender figure, dark pupils, handsome facial features, and a tranquil temperament in his whole person.

There was no doubt that it was Luo Wei who came.

He rushed over immediately after comforting the priests in the temple.

This impatient attitude naturally won the praise of the priests, and it also made them certain that Luo Wei really wrote the previous words in order to let Gilgamesh go on the right path.

But Luo Wei just wanted to die in front of Gilgamesh as soon as possible.

So, he rushed over in a hurry without even changing his sacrificial robes..

Stepping on the flat ground of the palace hall and, he walked towards the extremely high throne.

The palace hall was huge and extremely high, with towering pillars and bright sunlight reflecting on the square, mirror-like walls and floors.

It looked even grander than the Pantheon.

But unlike the Pantheon, such a hall was not repaired and built by the previous kings of Uruk but was promoted by Gilgamesh himself.

With its brutal and high-pressure rule, it was forcibly built.

'Is he trying to express that kingship is not suppressed by theocracy...'

Luo Wei thought to himself and soon came across the figure standing on the steps, looking down.

"Priest Luo Wei—no, it's time to call you Assistant Luo Wei from now on."

The female assistant officer spoke, her voice clear and sweet.

"Hello, Assistant Siduri."

Luo Wei responded.

He was always polite to people who couldn't help him die abnormally.

Anyway, irritating the other person has no effect, and he still needs to be less violent in life.

"Where's his Majesty, the King?"

He stepped up the steps, walked closer, and glanced at the empty throne.

"His Majesty...well, his majesty has something to do." The assistant officer named Siduri responded: "But before leaving, he gave you and me a task."

"Mission? What kind of mission? Is it important?"

Hearing this, Luo Wei was stunned.

What he subconsciously thought about was whether he could lose his life if he messed up.

But Siduri obviously misunderstood: "Don't be nervous, it's not a big task... just a little perfunctory will do."

"That goddess will not embarrass us mortals."

Goddess?

Could it be...

"Gilgamesh!"

A loud shout suddenly sounded outside the palace: "Hurry up and come out, and welcome the beautiful mistress of the sky, Ishtar!"

Sure enough, it was Ishtar.

Siduri shook her head: "I didn't expect that this goddess would come so quickly..."

Luo Wei's eyes lit up.

Not to mention what he had seen and heard before transmigrating; he couldn't be more familiar with this goddess just based on his experience as a sacrifice.

He knew exactly how arbitrary and domineering this goddess was.

'Hah, how good my luck is...'

Just now, he was feeling a little regretful that he could not confront Gilgamesh again, and this tsundere came...

Isn't it a new opportunity to die?
