Chapter 86: Amazing

Teacher Krauss decided not to question them about it, as he did tell them to do what they were interested in.

He just never anticipated that these kids would actually … act like kids.

That is, if given a choice, they'd do anything but study.

Krauss took a glance at Isaura, who was sitting and being completely engrossed at the computer.

Turns out that the one who appeared the most playful, was the one that was the most diligent. He turned his sight back towards the Fantastic Four and shook his head.

He comforted himself with the thought that they were just relaxing right now and later on, they would start to show the brilliance that one with such a high IQ would have.

Glancing at Aurora who had now moved to another music video, Krauss couldn't help but frown.

That one deserved special attention. The last thing he wanted was for a bright seed to decay, lost in the world of idols and senseless music. It was okay for relaxation but seeing the intensity of the gaze Aurora had as she watched the video, Krauss felt like it was the point of 'madness'.

Just like those crazy brain-dead fans that were polluting the Internet.

Still, he wasn't going to jump the gun, so to speak. If he was to act before the proper or appropriate time, it could cause more harm. They were still very emotional kids, after all, but unlike teenagers, were still pliable and would listen to their teachers.

Krauss started thinking of the proper preventive measures to take in order to steer Aurora back to the right path before he focused on the others.

Once Krauss had left and was out of hearing range, Aurora took off her headphones and smacked her brother on the shoulder.

"Why are you watching that? Isn't Daddy's teachings better than whatever you can get online?" Aurora said with a roll of her eyes.

Alex turned a little to give her a side glare then continued to watch the video.

"That goes without saying," Alex said in a tone of voice that showed his disdain towards his own sister, "I'm studying the angle, speed, and velocity of the knife in order to evaluate its efficiency. Father also said that I should always research and find the best method that is most suitable for me, since his skills are more solo while I have Max."

"Ah," Aurora said with a twinkle in her eyes, understanding what her brother was saying,

"I never saw it that way. So Daddy is basically saying one should always improve and not just stick to what is there?"

"There must be a balance," Ziad suddenly said, "Tradition is useful as it is the culmination of all the knowledge that has been passed down for generations, but, the passage of time also brings in better technology and understanding. You must always improve, and not be stagnant yet at the same time, not to disdain what has been taught before."

"Umhmm," Fleur agreed, "Just like cooking. We have better food processors but it doesn't necessarily make things better if the result is not as good as doing it by hand. Using mortar and pestle, for example, to grind chili peppers gives a better texture than using a blender. So you improvise and adapt, but not replace completely."

Aurora stretched, getting the kinks out of her back, and started resting her eyes as she put her computer on stand-by mode.

"You really should get those anti-blue light glasses," Alex said to Aurora, noticing her movements.

"I will, I will," Aurora said, "Daddy has already ordered them for all of us and it should arrive tomorrow."

"I don't need them," Alex said, "I don't spend as much time in front of the computer as you."

Turning towards Fleur, "Or Fleur. You guys spend too much time staring at your phones, too."

Aurora rolled her eyes and Fleur made a 'yapping' motion with her fingers (by putting four fingers going up and down to her thumb).

"Alex is right," Ziad agreed.

"Yeah, but he's such a fuddy-duddy old dude," Aurora snorted, "I can't imagine the amount of nagging he will be making as he grows older."

Alex shrugged, replying, "If you were actually sensible, I wouldn't need to nag."

Fleur brought her chair closer to Aurora and nudged her shoulder, "So? So? Was I right?"

Aurora rubbed the back of her neck and then put her fist on her mouth as she thought about it, "Well, it's subtle but you could be right. Daddy would know better though."

Fleur frowned in puzzlement, "Uncle Kyle? I mean, I know he's great, but isn't this more of Auntie Kay's area?"

The Fantastic Four grew up together, which meant not only meant that they were playmates and knew each other very well, but their parents would often talk about each other and so they were well aware of the other's strengths and weaknesses.

Naturally, this is unlike most parents who would generally not talk about 'adult' stuff (such as what they do, problems at work etc) because those weren't things that children would understand - plus, normal children weren't interested in knowing about their friends' parents either.

The Fantastic Four, however, as curious children, would often ask things whilst the parents were talking 'adult' stuff and they were always answered in a manner that was easy for them to understand.

Hence, they were more aware of the world 'outside', so to speak.

Thus, they knew that Uncle Kyle and Auntie Kay's strengths were in business, but in different areas. Uncle Kyle was strong in the more 'traditional' aspect of the business such as trends of the market, finance, shares, and the like while Auntie Kay leaned more towards the technological aspects of the business such as the tools needed to help propel their products in the market, communicate with other business partners, and so forth.

She was also a top-notch hacker, though she hardly showed the skill or used it (or so they think).

Hearing Fleur's question, Aurora pursed her lips a bit.

She knew what Fleur was referring to, and she didn't have anything to say to refute it, but in her heart, her father would know better.

Alex snorted as he said, his eyes not leaving the screen in front of him, "To Rory, Father is the best."

Aurora rolled her eyes and stared at Alex, "You mean, just like how you are to Isaura?"

Alex's hand froze for a second at that, and he cleared his throat, but did not answer.

Aurora snorted and stated, "At least, in my case, Daddy is great."

She waved her hands in the air and stated, "He can do everything!"

Now it was Alex's turn to roll his eyes.

"So what is it that you saw?" Ziad asked, as he leaned over to see the music video on Aurora's computer.

"Nothing serious," Aurora said, "Just that there are subliminal messages embedded into the lyrics and dance movements, which merely enhances the experience the audience has, to pull them into the story that they're telling."

"In short, making the music more real and hence, more popular," Ziad said.

"Bingo," Aurora replied, as she pointed to the music video, saying, "This song, 'Butterfly', for example."

"It's a love song but it's rather deep. 'Love can be as fragile as wings of a butterfly. Love can be as beautiful as a dream, so we begin to ask ourselves whether it's true or untrue" - so it's basically saying that the person you love so deeply is so ethereal in your eyes that you are scared that it's not true. That they aren't real."

"So what do you do when you're scared? You clutch your chest - but in this case, his hands are placed across his chest like the shape of a butterfly. It corresponds with the lyrics that he's singing that is, 'is it true? Is it true? You … You … You're so beautiful that I'm scared'," Aurora said with a smile.

"People hardly look at the dance movements consciously and is more of 'looking at the aesthetics but together with all these movements, lyrics, and facial expressions, you are really caught up in the whole experience," Aurora sighed.

"CST is so perfect," she sighed.

Alex couldn't help but snort again, "You're just a braindead fan."

Aurora punched him on the shoulder and said, "Hah. I am a fan, but hardly braindead. They deserve it."

"I can't believe you'd analyse it so deeply," Fleur said, "I just thought the movements were a bit strange, but not haha strange, rather … something is there strange."

"I just find it fascinating to analyse people," Aurora said, "The little gestures, the words said and used, the music … it all plays a part."

Fleur sighed as she leaned back in her chair, "You and Alex are just amazing."

Now it was Fleur's shoulder that Aurora hit, "As if you're any less amazing."

Fleur waved her hands in front of herself, "What? I'm just good at cooking."

Aurora raised her eyebrow, "Oh? Really?"

Subliminal messages in advertising has been there for quite some time, and as to whether there's any for music ... well, who knows? /heh
