Chapter 11: Evacuation
Austronesian Empire, Majapahit, Nusantara, Streets Of Nusantara.
2000, 1, 1st Week, January.
Little by little, communication among the various parts of Austronesia was being restored. However, they still couldn't receive a response from any other nations known to earth. It's as if the storm completely cut them off from the outside. However, they didn't have enough time to idle and so the with all the reports coming in, it then forced the government to order a full mobilization of the army and to restore order throughout Austronesia, even if the storm were as violent as ever.
To make sure of the safety of the equipment, the government only mobilized amphibious armor to accompany the soldiers. On the other parts of Austronesia were the flood were severe, the soldiers were forced to use an amphibious boat with amphibious armor to support them. Throughout Austronesia, soldiers were being mobilized to duty.
On a partially submerged street of Nusantara was a company of soldiers waiting for reinforcements. They were stationed at various floors of the house; they have long abandoned the streets as it is now partially submerged and their ammunition might get washed away, so they entered various houses that surround the street to allow for a wide view of their blind spots.
It has now been a few hours since the time of distribution of higher class forms of communication devices, unfortunately since they were so far away from the command center, they weren't able to get one for the meantime. However, they knew for that sooner than later reinforcement will arrive.
Some time has already passed and there are no fresh attacks coming in from the monsters. This occurrence left the soldiers extremely baffled. Just a few hours earlier, the monsters were attacking relentlessly. Now they have completely stopped. It is just so confusing for the soldiers.
Observing that the situation has calmed down, the soldiers entered back inside the houses as outside was so cold that you can practically store a salmon outside and you will be able to eat it afterwards. Earlier, they were all stationed at the different parts of the balcony and windows of the houses.
Now they have closed it and waited for the reinforcements, and furthermore, they were just watching on the windows to know if there will be another wave of attacks from the monsters.
Those soldiers that aren't doing anything sat down in a circle and talked amongst themselves.
"Hey, what do you think is happening all around Austronesia? Just earlier they announce to the civilians to evacuate immediately, and the sudden announcement of a catastrophic level of storm forming in the middle of Austronesia?" a man said.
"It's probably the Armageddon. The end of the world has come and were the first ones to perish." A man interjected.
"I am not too sure about that. Earlier, I've seen people frantically running inside and outside of the Austronesian Intelligence Division of the constabulary. So it is more likely that we have found something wrong was about to happen, and the government decided the best course of action is to save the citizens," a man said.
"I see, so it was those damn North Americans again? What are they trying to do this time? Have they summoned the demons from hell? It is the only possible thing, as we could all see that those monsters we have fought earlier had strikingly similar qualities to a demon, right?" a man said
"Let's not jump to conclusions immediately, my fellow soldiers. However, there could be some truth to the information that you have all given. If we based the rising tensions on the world, along with the sudden appearance of a catastrophic level of storm, it is highly likely that it is indeed the North Americans who may have done something. However, I propose a different theory. Maybe they could complete a technology and tried it on us first, however things went wrong and they actually summoned the demons from hell, as they have broken the laws of the world." A man said.
"That is indeed reasonable, my friend. However, we shouldn't always blame the North Americans for every problem that transpires before us. After all, if we did, then we would be no different from them. Let's all look towards a better view, and that is, whatever is causing this anomaly in our world. We should all pray to god first and fight for our people. Whatever challenge may god send us," a man said.
"I think you're right," a man said
"Now, let's all talk about the storm, shall we? This is the first time I've seen such a violent storm. Not only that, the lightning that when you're struck burns you with fire that can't be put out. The thunderous roars we've been hearing lately and the deafening thunders that repeatedly happens. Aren't you all frightened by it?" a man said.
"We are all frightened by it, however our sense of duty takes over us, and guidance from the lord keeps our spirits up, even though we are all divided by different religions, we can all agree that defending the motherland comes first, and no matter which religion we belong to faith towards our god or gods and goddesses will be beneficial." A man said.
As the soldiers continued talking about their opinions and their daily lives. After which they are done talking they all played a game to pass the time, while some took out a cigar, albeit it being wet, however it can still be smoked, so they got to have to get used to it.
However, as time passes by, a deafening roar resounded throughout the street outside, which alerted the soldiers. However, they felt like they shouldn't be seen by the monster outside and so they carefully looked through the windows.
Unfortunately, just as when a soldier was about to look through the window. An enormous dog-like creature crashed into the windows and bit the soldier to the death. The soldier's scream to death echoed throughout the house.
The surrounding soldiers were utterly horrified, as just earlier they were playing and now they were sucked back in, in fighting monsters, and so this event utterly took them by surprise.
All soldiers grabbed their assault rifle and swiftly aimed at the dog-like creature. However, when shots were fired, the bullets ricocheted, so this utterly baffled the soldiers.
When the dog-like creature finished killing, it's first victim, it then jumped on to the next one. The soldier noticed this and so it tried to fight in a close quarter combat. Unfortunately, when he brought out his knife, the dog-like creature bit his arms. So the soldier tried to force open the mouth of the dog-like creature, to no avail. It didn't work.
With terrifying force, the dog-like creature bit off the arm of the soldier. To the horror of the soldier, he lost his arms and blood now splattered everywhere. The dog-like creature threw the arm and immediately went in for the kill and decapitated the soldier with utter ruthlessness.
This didn't go unnoticed by the soldiers, as while everything was transpiring, they were shooting their assault rifles at the dog-like creature. However, as if heaven drop salt on them, all their bullets ricocheted off from the dog-like creature. It seemed like it was bullet proof or it's scales were very hard or skin.
While everything was transpiring, the other soldiers from the different houses took notice of this and got out on their balcony, and tried to help the other squads from the house where the dog-like creature was in.
Unfortunately for the soldiers with the dog-like creature, they didn't have any rocket launchers on them as the other teams had it. So they all have the same thought before they were all killed by the dog-like creature, and that is to run as quickly as possible and seek refuge in the other houses where there are rocket launchers.
They need rocket launchers as it seemed like that the creature was armoured. The soldiers then quickly left the house, except for one unlucky soldier. When he was about to leave, he was bitten on the shoulder and was dragged back into the house.
Seeking an honourable death, the soldier that was dragged back in used his grenade and pulled out the pin, after which a deafening explosion erupted, which resulted in the house being reduced into a pile of rubbles.
The other soldiers noticed this and observed the pile of rubbles. Unfortunately, the rubble was raised and a deafening roar was heard; it seemed like the creature still isn't dead.
All the remaining soldiers then brought out their rocket launchers and waited for the creature to appear, and when the creature appeared they checked behind them to see if there was another soldier there, and when there were wasn't any. They then launched off the rockets.
The rocket came at a blistering speed as it leaves a trail of smoke from behind. Just at the exact moment when the creature got out of the rubble, it was instantly barraged by dozens of rockets, which pulverised the creature to it's death.
After the smoke cleared and while the rain was partially blocking the view of the soldiers. The soldiers were able to identify that the creature was indeed killed and so they let out a cheer and celebrated.
Unfortunately, they couldn't have had much time to celebrate as they had to mourn for the people who have sacrificed their lives. So they removed their helmets and put it into their stomachs and prayed for the lost souls from the battle.
When they were able to finish the prayers, a loud honking sound came from the streets. Which after they found that the reinforcements had arrived. The soldiers felt a mixed of joy and sadness.
If the reinforcement's could only arrive in time, maybe they wouldn't have lost that many men and women. However, that's just how things go and so they had to accept that fact.
The soldiers then marched into the ground and arrived and entered the amphibious vehicles, the reinforcements noticed that the soldiers they rescued had an ashen look on their faces, and so they assumed that they have arrived late. Their hearts constricted and thought about on the many lives they could have saved if they didn't arrive late.
This event was just one of the many events that were transpiring throughout the empire of Austronesia, and unfortunately for them, their hardships are just about to begin.
