Chapter 1: Let's go

Opening her eyes, darkness welcomed her. She stared at the unknown environment with coldness seeping through her as she shivered slightly. She rubbed her arms which were roughened from goosebumps trying to warm herself but coldness kept on mercilessly biting her skin finding its way deeper to the bones.

She knew this wasn't her body as she felt the fragility of the current body that enclosed her soul. The current state she was in was no better than her previous life. Why was life so unfair to her?

Having, experienced all kinds of pain whether physical or mental in her previous life, she wondered whether being alive is a curse. The man she treasured deeply like gold, he... he hurt her.

He who had given her a ray of light cared for her and acted the shining armour but it was an illusion. Perhaps she wasn't destined to be happy.

However, once the heart becomes numb and cold it is hard to melt it and even though it melted it won't be as warm as it used to be. As Asari hugged her knees in the darkness thinking of her unfair experience, she felt vague memories of the owner flash in her mind. But none of them seemed to make sense.

Even though she got them would it change anything? She was so hurt broken and the dreadful feeling she'd been feeling returned. She wasn't even sure whether she would survive anyway in such a strange new environment.

Having had enough of thinking, Asari curled into a ball on the cold floor and eventually drifted to sleep. In her dreams, she saw herself in a happy life back with her dead parents. She cherished such dreams and sleep was her only sanctuary left in her bittersweet reality.

In another dream, she saw a man with black ebony eyes, they were cold and mysterious as they stared back at her. But for some reason, she felt drawn to them.

Asari woke up from the sound of a clanging gate as it hauled open. The little light at the entrance caused her eyes to pain as she had gotten used to the darkness.

"This one is of the oldest batch. You can check here if you want." She heard a man say

She suddenly felt more alert than usual, like how soldiers would be to the extent that she could feel the hushed footsteps from a far. Most strangely, a strong scent of blood wafted into her nose as she felt a shadowy figure approach her.

It crouched in front of her and stretched a hand towards her. Asari felt her sight become sharper despite the darkness. As she scrutinized the face, the thing that stirred her heart was his eyes. His cold eyes were black as obsidian, just like the man she saw in her dreams.

"Let's go." Uttered the figure huskily.

It was a man, she confirmed her thoughts.

Despite the fear in her heart, she placed a shaky arm on his palm. Perhaps this man could be her last ticket of survival, sh thought inwardly.

Surprisingly, his palm was warm, unlike her cold-as-ice arms. The man roughly pulled her up and to his shock, the female didn't even flinch for a bit.

Asari shakily followed the man but her body was too weak to even take a step. Feeling her slow movements, the man lifted her in bridal style, startling Asari. But she remained still in his arms as they exited the dark place.

As they stepped outside, they were welcomed by the warm sun. It wasn't that hot but Asari felt it scorch her skin yet she didn't even flinch. Her milky almost incandescent skin tanned.

He threw his cloak on her, sheltering her from the sun. A warm feeling crawled into her heart. For the first time again, she experienced care.

As she got absorbed in the good feeling, a sarcastic voice came into her mind, " Do you think it will last? Don't even think of it"

She frowned as she realized this but what could she do? She was bound to misery and suffering.

The man holding her wore a mask and only his eyes could be seen. On the other hand, Asari thought she saw a conflicting emotion in the man's eyes but in the next moment it was gone.

Now that she thought about it, Asari realized that she was a slave. Earlier on she had a clear conversation between the masked man and the security guard at the dungeons.

The man approached an Audi 8-type car, opened the back door and slowly placed Asari on the seat. He then rushed to the driver's seat and sped off towards the bustling city.

Asari didn't know how long she had slept but by the time she woke up, she found herself lying on a large bed. The bed felt soft as she sank into a pillow with a large bed cover, spread on top of her frail body. She glanced at the surroundings, the room was largely furnished and huge. A walk-in closet was situated at the end of the wall and had another door on it. The room was tidy with no single speck of dust.

Suddenly the door creaked open and the masked from earlier entered, her heart also began thumping uncontrollably. She immediately closed her eyes and pretended to sleep. His footsteps were stealthy and a normal person wouldn't hear anything however, Asari was different.

Her abnormally sharp senses could still feel his presence so hard that it bothered her. His strong aura posed an impending danger. The more he advanced towards the bed she laid on, the more she tightened her closed eyes until she finally felt the bed sink slightly, and her heart racing speed increased.

"Are you awake or you're up to something?" whispered the man teasingly in her ears. He was so close to her that his lips almost touched her lobe.

"Is he going to do it to me?" thought Asari, gripping the blanket tightly.
