Since the palace was empty, the footsteps of Cargan, Adrain, and their escorts echoed through the walls. Just ahead, they found Astor standing with his own escorts in front of an elevator.

The footsteps drew their attention. "Brothers!" Astor breathed and hurried to them, followed closely by his own escorts.

"What's going on here?" Cargan asked as Astor welcomed them with hugs.

Astor shook his head, hands on his hips. "Wish I had the answer to that. We have been standing there for about twenty minutes. The elevators won't work and the stairs have all been shut."

"Have you tried reaching Bor?" Adrain frowned.

Astor nodded. "More time than you can imagine."

"And…?"

"All futile. He won't even answer the damn calls!"
