[At the time, we had no idea what the repercussions of the war to enter Valner would become, but even if we did, we probably would have chosen to do the same thing.

How many Fourth Tiers have we lost since HE arrived?....STATEMENT FROM AN UNKNOWN SOURCE ABOUT THE DIARUS ERA]

[George's POV]

Behind the scenes, Warden was watching Professor A teach the group the positions, with Assistant next to her.

"What do you think of the events over the last three months?"

Assistant scratched his head.

"I'm not really that sure what to think about it, honestly. Has there been a lot of senseless killing? Yes, of course yes. But is that what the sponsors want to see?"

"I understand what you mean. Looking at this group's situation, I don't think they hold a candle to the others."

She sighed and put her hands behind her head.

"If things keep going on this way, the management might penalize me."

"You've mentioned the management before, but you haven't really explained, What or who are the management?"

"Isn't it obvious? They're the people who line our coffers with coins, who keep us fed, who make sure to keep us as prisoners."

"We are prisoners, aren't we? How did I even get into this?"

"The same way everyone does. They have no choice in the matter."

"No choice, huh?"

"Yeah, no choice. We are but the people they exploit to make money, but that's not too bad. At least I get to watch a reality show while I do my job."

"Speaking of reality shows, who do think is going to kill George?"

"George. I had expectations for him earlier, but it seems like my judgment was wrong. He's the weakest, was still naive until not too long ago and just generally irritates me. Alex should just off him already."

"Do you think he can make a comeback?"

"Not without a lot of luck."

Warden turned to look at a screen on her right.

"Anyway, George's ranking has skyrocketed since he separated from Alistair."

"The viewers seem to be enjoying the drama. He's sixth now, isn't he?"

"Yeah. First is Josephine, people really love her two faced personality, second is Alex, it seems some people really connect with his twisted nature, third is Alistair, he's dropped since his emotional outburst with George, some people were disillusioned since they though he was a cool, calm and collected person."

"It's hard to please people, isn't it? Once you've established your persona you can never act out of character, otherwise your fans will disapprove."

There was a pause in the conversation.

Until, Assistant asked a question.

"Do you ever think about the moral integrity of what we do here?"

"Explain."

"We get children to be sold by their guardians for just money and then we throw them inside here and make sure that if not all, most die in the three years. Doesn't that sound a bit wrong to you?"

Warden didn't reply for a few seconds.

"Is there anything that's really wrong in the world? What society perceives as wrong is what we call wrong. But if we were to stop thinking about wrong in society's view, we would realize that 'wrong' is a concept created by people. Even the word 'wrong' is something that was created. If we were to return to nature, would we call it wrong if we killed an animal to feed our starving children? No, we wouldn't. It would be perfectly normal, even a good thing that we did that. But looking from an animal's perspective, we just committed an abomination. We ate their brethren. If they could destroy us, I'm sure they would. But is that really wrong? Isn't it natural to want to kill someone who trying to eat you? Therefore, there is no such thing as wrong, and that is what I use to justify what we do here."

"What was with that long monologue? Did you just make that up on the spot?"

"Yeah, did it sound deep? I wanted to sound like some old master who's seen everything."

They laughed and there was silence before the mood got serious again.

"Jokes aside, do you think they're going to survive the fight club?"

Warden yawned.

"Not really, but they only have themselves to blame."

"Do you ever think about escaping?"

There was completer silence.

"Assistant, watch your mouth! Do you want to get us both killed?"

"Just think about it. It's not as if we're going to see the sun for a long time, so why don't we escape?"

Warden pressed a button under her desk.

"I'd like to report a breach in conduct in Section 65-H. Please come to apprehend 2434-B."

"Warden, what did you just do?"

Assistant was in a rage.

"I actually value my life, but it seems like you don't."

Three muscle bound people dressed in long black robes came into the room.

"2434-B, don't resist and come with us quietly."

Assistant glared at Warden.

"You're just one of their dogs, aren't you?"

Warden shrugged.

"I gotta do what I gotta do."

"Come quietly, 2434-B."

One of the people made a move towards Assistant.

"Stay away from me!"

A green aura started to from around Assistant's body.

Warden sat up straight at the sight of the aura.

"When were you able to form your own aura? You're supposed to tell me if you advance, even if it's just a little movement."

Assistant didn't answer but raised his hand. A green beam flew out towards the three people. They dodged and responded by dashing to him.

Assistant ran out of the room into the hallway, which was full people wearing the same thing as the Warden walking around. They moved out of the way when they saw Assistant running.

"That's the third one today."

One of them commented to the person next to him.

"You would think they would stop trying by now. There's no use."

Assistant made his way down the hallway, leaving a green streak in his wake and three streaks of blue chasing after him.

Meanwhile, Warden sat back in her chair and swung around.

"It's a shame he had to do that. We've worked together for five years, why did he have to disobey orders?!"

She got up, fuming. Then she took a few deep breaths and calmed down. She shrugged and walked out of the room.

"Maybe I'll go get a drink."
