The world of Deva operates under a Tier system with Tier One being the lowest and Tier Four being the highest.

Saying Deva runs on the Tier system is very vague, to be more specific the Tier system is just a representation of how strong a person is.

For example there are different types of powers like being a , mage and Hani mage, and there are also particular races that have can grow in strength like vampires and werewolves.

So a vampire grows from Tier One to Tier Four, a mage grows from Tier One to Tier Four, I'm sure you get the gist by now.

I put mage and Hani mage separately because there is a big difference between the two and they should not be mistaken for being the same.

All these are ways of stronger have different systems and types of powers, but the one thing they have in common is that they can be put under a Tier.

All types of powers I mentioned above exist in Deva but it kind of uncommon to see them, the type of power that is the most common is the Hani system which is why I'll talk the most about it in this chapter.

The Hani system like the name suggests is similar to the type of system that is a Hani mage, but the difference is that all Hani mages are part of the Hani system, but not all people in the Hani system are Hani mages.

Hani is basically a person's life-force which is trained to get stronger.

To reach higher Tiers in the Hani system a person must first awaken their Hani which can be done forcefully or naturally. A naturally awakening is when a person's Hani awakens on its own without any outside interference, while a forceful awakening is one where a person awakens their Hani through the use of outside stimulus.

If a person doesn't awaken naturally before the age of five their only option is to awaken artificially, which usually mean that they have less potential than those who awakened naturally. The earlier a person awakens their Hani the higher the chance for the person to have high potential and reach the later Tiers.

Once a person awakens either naturally or artificially, the person then refines their Hani which is the removal of impurities in the life-force of the person, once the person reaches the limit of the refining they enter a stage which is called Pseudo First Tier. Most people will never get past this stage cause the person's Hani will have to go through a qualitative change. If a person Hani is able to go through a qualitative change then the person will have reached the First Tier.
