Chapter 15: The Tragic Tale
"Lucifer Morningstar is my name. When I was out in the mortal realms, I went by the name Samael" Samael's true identity was finally exposed, Lucifer stated.
Shivers…. Tenshi's spine shivered uncontrollably as he recognized that Samael was not an angel but the SATAN himself.
Rias was confused and annoyed to hear Samael refer to himself as Lucifer. That an impostor would use her ancestor is a slander on all devils.
With a sweep of his hand, Lucifer caused the space around them to change. This was before the time when stars, planets, and galaxies all started popping up.
"Honestly, Tenshi, you've blown me away. I recognize that killing hundreds of goblins and a hobgoblin was a Herculean effort for a puny human like you, so as a reward, I will tell you my story." Lucifer said, and Tenshi wasn't sure whether he was being complimented or poked fun of.
Tenshi felt a twinge of happiness since this was the first time Lucifer/Samael had called him by his given name. He is also relieved to have found out who Samael and Lucifer really are.
"I am the firstborn of the One Who Is Above All, the firstborn son of God. Of course not; I have nothing in common with the wretched fool who first created Christianity.
When I came into the world, I made a big explosion, which you humans call the "Big Bang." About 4.5 billion years ago, when there was nothing.
After making me, One Above All decided to have more children, and not long after that, the second son was born.
My father made me; he made me the most beautiful creature that could possibly exist. To put it another way, my name, Lucifer Morningstar, means "the Bearer of Light" and also suggests that I am the origin of all things.
My younger brother, who named himself Michael, which means "One Who Is Like God," was jealous of me since he wasn't as powerful or as beautiful as I was. The fact that his father never addressed him by name drove him crazy. So he made Adam and Eve, the two most beautiful people in the world, outdo me, or especially my father.
Father was never interested in what Michael was up to, so he simply left him to his own devices while he contemplated the prospect of creating more beings like us.
Yet despite my lack of enthusiasm for his innovations, I was nonetheless tasked with completing a separate project. While Michael was busy creating a "paradise" for mankind, I was busy creating its polar opposite – Hell.
Eve was the most beautiful woman Michael had ever created, and even I was astounded by her beauty. When Michael realized how much Eve meant to him, he took... extreme action. My brother killed and reincarnated as Adam in the hopes that she would love him as much as she loved Adam.
My dislike for Michael increased as I learned more about his deception on Eve. We were powerful beings, and it was beneath us to deceive a mere mortal. Consequently, I decided to get back with my sibling by drawing from my own blood and creating a creature that could not only swim and walk on land but also hide in plain sight.
I delivered the snake to Michael's "heaven," which he referred to as the Garden of something or other...
When my invention exposed Michael's plan, Eve was devastated since she thought she could never again love freely.
Michael was furious when he discovered my party trick. My father knew I was stronger than my brother, so he didn't intervene in our first fight since he thought it was just a sibling rivalry.
During our battle, my father's creatures, whom we call Angels, joined my side and battled Michael.
As a consequence of our fight, several creatures, including Death, Life, War, and others, were created.
When Eve heard that my brother had declared war, she instantly started blaming herself.
Then it all started when Eve and I... began spending some time together. Her personality was equally as stunning as her physical appearance. We were both smitten with love before long.
After discovering our relationship, Micheal felt hurt and betrayed. It was his own invention that betrayed him and 'stabbed' him.
Micheal's rage drove him to do something against the rules that could never be forgiven. He'd used the Sword of The End.
My father crafted the Sword of the End, which is capable of obliterating everything and everyone, even its creator.
In the midst of the battle, he used the Sword of the End to wipe out all of his creation, including Eve, whom I loved more than anybody else.
When the sword is activated, it kills or destroys everything in its path; thus, in order to save Eve, I decided to take the blow myself.
After I was wounded by the Sword of the End, my father awoke in wrath. He fell asleep because he had no interest in the result of the fight we were having.
My father was fuming with wrath because the sword had penetrated me. To admit it aloud would be as embarrassing as it sounds... Because of my overinflated ego, I never gave my brother the respect he deserved and falsely believed that he could never beat me.
Michael, who was in possession of the sword, was the target of Father's full-forced attack, a lightning bolt.
Michael realized he had made a mistake after seeing my father get enraged for the first time in his life.
After being struck by my father, the sword snapped in half and then into three separate pieces.
My broken soul was sent through Michael's invention after my father sacrificed the rest of his life to divide it in two and send each half on its way.
My father made a pledge to never interfere in our battle, which caused Micheal to use the sword. The pledge turned into a curse when my father unknowingly broke it.
Sick and dying, Michael used what little strength he had left to split his soul and scatter its parts over his works.
Eve begged my dying father to end her life as well, stating that even though she was eternal, she couldn't live without me. My father, who adored Eve as if she were his own daughter, was unable to act.
She then put an end to her life by slitting her own throat with the Blade of Death, which was one of the three shattered pieces of the Sword of the End, and she dispersed her soul over the cosmos in an effort to find me.
When father passed away, he triggered a second explosion, which not only destroyed universes but also created a great deal of new ones.
The fragments of my brother's wounded soul converted me into a villain, a terrible person, and a sinner, while at the same time turning him into a defender and our father's favorite son in his creations."
Both Tenshi and Rias were taken aback by this discovery. After hearing Lucifer's tragic story, their heads almost exploded.
"Then who is Samael and Lucifer… in our history?" Rias probed.
In the underworld, there are two distinct identities.
Samuel was once an angel, but he became a serpent and tricked Adam and Eve into eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. As a consequence of this, he was cursed, transformed into a dragon, and became the Ultimate Dragon Slayer, also known as the Dragon Eater.
Lucifer was the master of the Lucifuge Clan, as well as the founder of the Lucifer Clan, and one of the four original Satans. He was also known as the King of the Devils.
"Haha... yeah, Samuel should have been formed by my blood since I was stabbed and assumed my nickname in my honor. I can think of only one reason he despises dragons, as they were Micheal's favorite creation; he made them ridicule me. And 'Lucifer' should be a remnant of my Will." said Lucifer.
After what seemed like an eternity, Rias suddenly started to become transparent, as if she were waking up from her dreamlike state.
Rias began to vehemently protest with a "no no no" as she embraced Tenshi even more tightly and would not allow him to go.
"it appears you are coming awake…" Lucifer mused.
Rias confronted Lucifer "You ought to be strong, right? Can you bring him back?"
Rias was speaking without any sign of fear to Lucifer, and Lucifer was looking at her in amusement. She was even demanding something from such a strong entity.
"Well, consider this a present for me. I can't bring him to you... but I can set up a link so you can see each other once in a while," Lucifer stated, sending a green ball of light toward Rias.
Rias and Tenshi both experienced a stinging sensation on their chests. "That is the mark and connection to each other," Lucifer said.
"How does it work?" Rias's questioned with full of eagerness.
Lucifer's response was short and sweet "That... is for you to discover. I'm going to go ahead and claim that only you have the ability to summon him. The more powerful you are, the faster you'll be able to find him. Or even meet him if you wish."
Rias now had a goal in mind, and her eyes glowed with an intense level of determination. Rias was about to rejoice and thank him, but she vanished before Tenshi's own eyes.
Upon witnessing Rias disappear, Tenshi regained his composure and turned his attention to Lucifer, saying, "I-I can offer you my soul... for the power to save Liya?"
"You're going to offer me your soul and shatter the girl's hopes of ever seeing you, right?" Lucifer said, mocking him.
Tenshi had the impression that Rias is a kind girl who is eager to help him, but he felt more compassion and love for Liya than he did for Rias since he had only met Rias twice. If he had to pick between Rias and Liya, there is no question in his mind that he would go with Liya.
"There are times when I have to give up things I care about. So..." Tenshi said, "I'm prepared to trade my soul for your power."
After Lucifer finished chuckling, he turned to Tenshi and said, "Why should I take what was already mine?"
