Chapter 31: [Ch.31] Make the Sinners Suffer (Past)

Occasionally Raylon would stop at the library before leaving out of boredom.

Korph still continued to insult me every chance he had. Michiya would also stop at the library every day to chat with me about new theories. Occasionally the two of us would share our research together. It seems that I had not scared him off last time when I discussed the dark arts.

The month quickly passed without any issue.

We returned to having tea together after our classes. It was just like before we were punished. The only difference was that we now had two more people joining. Mona began to attend which thrilled Amanda because she now had more people to chat with. Korph also attended the tea party to ensure I didn't act immorally towards Raylon.

As if I ever would.

We were all sitting and enjoying our tea when a boisterous group approached. I recognized the voice and glanced up already feeling a worse headache coming on. Lin and Qing walked up with their usual arrogance and a group of women following. Lin looked at us with a frown, "Look at these eyesores."

The girls giggled while fawning over him. Qing pointed at me, "Isn't that the girl who disrespected you?"

Lin looked directly at my chest, "It definitely is!" He walked over and leaned close to my face with a smug smile. "I've been waiting for my apology. I've been waiting so long, I don't believe a kiss would suffice anymore."

I met his vulgar eyes without a change in expression. Amanda watched uncomfortably from the side.

He continued, "I suppose you could always apologize in another way." He noticeably stared down at my chest.

Raylon jumped out of his seat in anger, "Oi! Watch your mouth!!"

"What's this? Is her boyfriend trying to step up and protect her?" Lin walked over to him as he taunted, "Well go on. Defend your woman. Oh, wait. I forgot you're a Pheonix Prince. Fighting with me will make our nations go to war. And you wouldn't want your poor little nation to be destroyed."

Qing snickered, "Pheonix Prince? Isn't he just some orphan that was picked up from the street like common trash?"

Raylon clenched his jaw, "Shut. Up. Now."

I frowned slightly at the sound of his voice.

I'm started to get very annoyed.

Qing laughed, "He's not going to do a thing. He's too much of a weakling."

"Why you-" He raised his fist.

"Brother!" Mona rushed over to him to stop him, "Don't do anything. Fighting isn't allowed."

"Yeah, just listen to your sister." Lin said, eyeing her with the same dirty look he had just given me.

Mona felt dirty under his lustful stare and covered herself up. Raylon pushed her behind him protectively while glaring at him.

Korph jumped in noticing the disrespect to Raylon and Mona, "Oi! Why don't you all just get lost?!"

Lin looked at Korph and laughed, "Hey Qing! Look at this savage! He's so short!" Qing burst out laughing.

Korph gritted his teeth fuming with anger, "Who are you calling a savage?!"

I frowned further. 'Savage' was a derogatory term used by the Dong Guang's nation concerning the Dragon clan.

Mona and Raylon watched on helplessly. They had been specifically told not to get in any fights with anyone from the Dong Guang's nation since it could cause a war to break out. However, the Dragon clan was different. They didn't shy away from any fights.

However, due to their location on the border of Dong Guang's nation, they were subjected to inhumane practices if they were captured. Thus, they tried to keep their distance but were always plotting their revenge.

"Hey Lin." Qing exclaimed, "You're hurting his little feelings!"

Lin sneered looking at Korph's height, "Emphasis on little."

"You [censored]!" Korph shouted, "You think you're so big and bad?! Well, you're not! You're all little [censored]!"

Qing snickered, "Oh? Well our nation is prosperous and growing. What about yours? Aren't you supposed to be the next king?"

"Qing, you're forgetting." Lin spoke, "Isn't he the last in line for the throne. He doesn't even have his wings."

"Oi!" Korph shouted louder, "Shut up! Prosperous? What a joke! You're only prosperous because you rely on forced labor!"

Lin gave a sadistic smile, "That's right. And maybe on your way back home, we will snatch you up too."

"Y-You!" Korph shouted, trying to refrain from punching them.

Qing patted him on the back before being swatted off by Korph. "It's okay kid. You would make an excellent slave. I can even take you now since you seem so enthused about it."

A sound of glass bursting rang through the air.

They all turned to see me glaring over my book with hateful eyes. My hand that had been holding a teacup was bleeding profusely before stopping just as quick. I spoke in my usual tone, "Slave?"

Amanda shouted, "My lady! Your hand!"

I looked at Korph and repeated myself, "Slave?"

He spoke through gritted teeth, "One of the main imports of the Dong Guang's nation is slaves. They are cowards who steal my people for their slave trade. They drug them because they know they can't compare to the strength of my people."

"Hm." I turned to the two men while never withdrawing my eyes. Everyone around me could feel the temperature reduce significantly.

The two men shivered under my silent and deadly stare.

"Whatever. Let's go, Qing. I might puke from that awful smell coming from that savage if we stay any longer." Lin spoke motioning to the ladies, "Alright ladies. How about we retire to my private chambers?"

The group left quickly with only the sounds of the girl's giggles lingering behind.

I spoke aloud, "Who are they?"

"You do not know, lady Moao?" Mona asked, "They are the sons of the Emperor Dong Guang. Although they aren't in the direct line for the throne, they seem to act like it. All of the emperor's sons act like that."

"Hm."

I stood up and walked away. Amanda shouted, "Lady Moao! Where are you going?"

"To the headmaster."

Amanda looked back at the group and gave a fake laugh, "My lady can occasionally be unpredictable."

"She smashed a glass." Korph said looking at the shattered pieces and blood across the table, "She didn't even know she was bleeding."

"She can be- uh..." she paused thinking about the correct word, "Numb."

"What happened to her?" Mona asked suspiciously.

"She's been like this for as long as I've known her. I was told that before me, she always acted disinterested and disconnected." She sighed, "That's why everyone was so afraid of her. It wasn't because she was strong or even that she threatened them. It is because she simply doesn't care."

She looked at them with pleading eyes, "Please keep trying to be her friend. I know she is bad at communicating and is hard to understand, but she isn't a bad person."

Korph crossed his arms, "Well I will never be friends with that bird."

Mona ignored him, "It's okay Miss Amanda. If we didn't like her, we wouldn't be around her."

Korph mumbled clearly unhappy, "Speak for yourself."

Amanda breathed a sigh in relief. Mona looked at the mess and began to clean it up. Amanda shouted, "No, Princess Mona! Please don't do that. You could cut yourself!"

Mona chuckled softly, "It's okay Miss Amanda. I won't-"

She grimaced as a shard cut into her finger. She dropped it and gasped while holding her now bleeding finger.

Amanda rushed over panicked more than usual, "Oh no! I told you to be careful. I don't have any bandages."

Mona blushed and looked to the ground, "I don't need a bandage, Miss Amanda. If you just suck on it, it will heal in no time."

"It-It will?"

She added with a gentle smile, "It's a cultural practice in the Phoenix nation."

Amanda looked towards Raylon or Korph for confirmation, but they both refused to meet her gaze. They stared off into the distance cursing Mona's brazen statement. Amanda didn't realize Mona was just being shameless so she shrugged and placed her finger in her mouth. Mona let out a gasp before biting her lip. Amanda stared at her in confusion as Mona's blushing face grew redder.

After a few moments, I returned with documents in hand. I glanced at Amanda and Mona and then promptly ignored them. I passed out documents to Korph and Raylon. Raylon looked at it, "What's this?"

"Excuses."

"Excuses?" Raylon asked, still confused.

"Originally I was going to be returning back to my villa to conduct important research."

Amanda felt a chill run through her, "Lady Moao…"

I ignored her, "But now I have another idea and need you two to help me."

"So, these letters-"

"The headmaster accepted your absence as well. In one weeks' time, you will be accompanying me back to my kingdom."

Korph shouted angrily, "Why would I want to go to your crummy kingdom?!"

Raylon looked at me with concern, "Are you sure this will be alright? We aren't exactly welcomed in your kingdom."

I shook my head, "No one will mess with you if they know that you are my guest. Especially the Baron."

Amanda, no longer with the finger in her mouth, cheered, "Oh! You will love the villa! It's more than big enough for everyone! And don't worry, the Baron never stops by lady Moao's villa. He avoids her place like the plague."

Raylon forced a smile, "Somehow that's not comforting."
