Chapter 2: A Fight
Behind the door was a stone chamber lit by a dozen torches which surrounded the perimeters. At the center of the chamber stood behind the was a creature that brings nightmare to those who ever seen it in person. A monster that does not only take the characteristics of one creature but three.
There were three pairs of eyes gazing at the group of humans. One pair belonged to a snake for a tail that stared at the group with a venomous expression.
The other was the head of a black goat that looked down on the humans and was attached to the main body's back.
And the one bearing its black fang as fire seep through the gap of its teeth resembled a lion in the forepart.
The purple furred Chimera howled loudly that it caused the wind around it to run away in fear.
"What is that?" Maeryn can be seen sweating profusely at the sight before her. She was a rank 2 who had seen many monsters, but it was nothing quite liked this.
Even Lyn, who had completed a rank-4 tower, had never seen such monstrosity. Even that, this tower was only rank-3, but the feeling that it was giving off felt like something that a boss from a rank-4 could give off.
The door slammed behind them with a loud thud trapping the four inside.
Buskly forced himself to stand between the monsters and his friends.
Edryd quickly tapped the shaking Maeryn to let her know to calm down.
The chimera quickly took action. Its hind legs cracked the surface beneath as it pounced towards the human who was at the door.
Lyn did not hesitate and activated his rotu that he equipped in an instance.
[Ring of the fire- resist against fire attack]
[Gloves of flame - every punch is imbued with the power of fire]
[Life Insurance amulet- Recovers one limb one time every 24 hours.]
[Wind boots of sonic - feet are imbued with the power of wind]
[Icy breath of the tyrant tooth - can breathe out a massive freezing breath]
[Armor of penance - the damage done to you is returned back the attacker]
[Sword of red lightning - Each strike will release red lightning.]
[Upper Limit - double the limit of the amount of rotu you can use.]
With a long sword in his hand, he barely changed the trajectory of the chimera so that Buskly would not take the full brunt of the attack. He forced its muscular arms to move away from Buskly's head. A red lightning traveled through its body with little effect as its fur insulated from it. The chimera smashed its claws onto the wall inches away from Maeryn.
"Hurry Up! Everyone get ready now!" Lyn yelled to snap his team out of their trepidation.
The tail of the chimera snapped forward at Maeryn. The snake with venomous fang did not hesitate to attack her even when its main body ran into the wall.
Maeryn eyes were wide open with fear that she was briefly paralyzed. She could only stare at the green snake with gaping jaws coming at her.
But before it reaches, an oval shield made of white light bounced the snake away.
Buskly protected Maeryn by summoning a shield of light.
[White Guardian gauntlet - Formed a shield made of light]
Buskly was pushed back a bit because of it unexpected strength.
'Why is its tail so strong? And for Lyn to able to push its main body…I would die without him.' Buskly realized that his life was once again saved by Lyn.
Buskly full plated armor turned deep red.
[Red Hatred Plate Armour - foes that will see it will seek to attack you. Defense of the armor will greatly increase.]
Buskly knew that if he let his fear overtake him, it will be the death of his team. As a tank, he had to shield them from damage.
He knew the limit of Lyn's strength since he always traveled with him and fought beside him. Even more, the chimera would be the top 3 dangerous monsters they had ever face in regards to brute strength. This made Buskly more anxious.
The chimera jumped back to the center of the chamber and the goat released a blast of black air pressure towards Buskly.
He raised his shield of white light protecting those behind him. The power of the ball lifted Buskly, thus, knocking him against the wall.
The Chimera charged towards the human without a break in their attack. Without hesitation, Lyn breathed out an icy breath instantly slowing the chimera down.
Seeing Lyn and Buskly fighting against the beast, the twins began to make their move.
Edryd followed up and took out two different shape daggers.
[Blue Volcanic dagger - Released an intense heat when struck by its blade]
[Black Ice dagger - Released coldness the part where the blade touch.
Edryd ran towards its right side and slashed with its blue volcanic dagger burning its fur and skin, and then the black ice dagger. The coldness penetrated the inside causing the lion body to be stunned for a brief second.
However, the snake was not affected and lunged towards Edryd.
Maeryn swiftly activated her rotu.
[Shield of 3 layers - Formed a 3 layer shield made of stones.]
A shield made out of gray stone instantly appeared in front of Edryd. The snake shattered the shield into pieces with its head, but it slowed it down enough that Edryd was able to get retreat.
[Boots of last step - travel back up to 5 - steps in matters of a second]
When he activated the boots of last step, his body was enveloped in a light blue light and went back to his position before he charged at the chimera.
Lyn punished the chimera aggressiveness by kicking it where Edryd had slashed him. His legs were surrounded by a gust of wind and when he kicked the chimera, the wind knocked him to the wall.
Seeing the chimera on its knee, the three quickly reformed back to Buskly.
The chimera got up and roared with small amount fire coming out of its mouth. The goat eyes flashed purple as it healed its wound. The snake discharged a dark green gas out of its mouth towards the group.
Maeryn activated a barrier in response that prevented such thing from coming in.
[Yello guardian fog amulet- summon a fog that will block all attack for a certain amount of damage.]
The amulet around Maeryn's neck was gushing out with a yellow fog. The poisonous gas was not able to penetrate it.
But before the gas penetrated it, the forepart of the chimera, the lion, breathed out a large fire towards the direction of the gas.
The fire caused a reaction with the gas, thus, exploding in the vicinity of Lyn, Edryd, Buskly, and Maeryn.
Not only the chimera was strong, but it was intelligent.
The yellow fog was not able to hold up as it quickly dissipated.
The scream of pain was heard throughout the chamber as the fiery explosion caught the twins, thus, killing them.
Buskly, who was barely breathing with one arm missing, shielded the now injured Lyn. Lyn right leg was caught in the explosion, but one of his rotu regenerated it.
In a matter of minutes, the two twin had died, one was severely injured, and Lyn was heavily fatigued due to the regeneration process and was injured from the explosion.
"Lyn… why… why is something like that in… a rank 3… tower." Buskly could barely keep his eyes opened and it was blurry. He could only see the blurry chimera surrounded by the flames of the yellow fire. He could see that the chimera was walking triumphantly towards them. He could see that there was nothing we could do now as its eyes stared at him.
"Buskly… take one of Maeryn's rotu to heal yourself. I will fight it alone until you can fight. We can't die here after making it this far. We still haven't build a kingdom yet. We are not yet king. So until then, we have to keep fighting." Lyn forced his shaken legs to stand strong. Afterward, he dug out a red pill with a carving of a monster with horns on it out of his pouch.
The red pill emitted a red and black aura.
Lyn did not know what does this pill do, but this pill was a special rotu. Those who were rogues would know the meaning of the red and black aura and the danger behind it. It was a cursed rotu.
The cursed rotu gave those who used it great power, but it came with a heavy price. Lyn sadly smiled as he looked back to where his three friends were at.
Buskly's eyes lit wide open.
"Don't Lyn! If you do that you will not able to come back!" Buskly tried to get to stop him but it was too late.
Lyn swallowed the red pill.
Lyn's eyes turned blood red as black mist rushed out from all his pores. He roared with a madness that sent shivers to the chimera.
[Bedevilment monster transformation pill - Transform the person who consumes it to a random monster for all eternity.
The person who consumes it will go in a blind rage for all eternity. They will not know friends from foes and will attack anything that will come near them.]
