Chapter 2: Question 2 - Yan or Rin?
Melodies of birds chirping flowing into my ears and sunlight peeking shyly from a gap between windows in my bedrooms. I open my windows sashes and smell the fresh aroma of a village. Today is clear weather, no cloud as far I can see.
Some of the villagers already left their house and ready for plant new crops. Look like a busy season for farmers is coming, even so there no frown on their faces, they do their job with vigor knowing they can feed their family for at least a year after harvest.
The rate of harvest is astounding compared with my previous world, they didn't use crop rotation, and any fertilizer, but everytime they always harvest big.
When I think about it, maybe it is the cause after all, why would they try to use fertilizer or try another farming technique if they satisfied with what they have right now.
When any of them see me looking through the window, they wave their hand to me and then I waved back, ah this neighborhood is the best, very different from my previous life when everyone just life independent from each other.
After long enough enjoying the natures, I go inside and get ready to work. In this world, children at my age working are considered normal, because this world doesn't have any compulsory education.
I walked into the nearby stream, and start washing my body. There no strange odor in my body, however, my habit to take a bath is hard to stop. So, I usually go here alone and sink in my body.
Half an hour later, I finished my bath. Waterdrops dripping from my hair while looking at streams and see my reflection. My grey hair and heterochromia eyes are little vague but it distinguishable.
People usually remember me because of my blue left eye and yellow right eye. My condition is quite rare in this world people usually have the same colors for both eyes, but when I think about it, my previous world is the same. My mother said, my blue eye is inherited by my father side, even though I never saw him before.
After drying my body, I go home and find out everyone still asleep. I knew my mother is work late, but I'm sure Yan and Rin sleeping early last night. Why my sisters are sluggish, can't they have any youth vigor and play outside in the morning.
I go inside their room, looking at both of them clumping around. Look like Rin's dream is eating something, she gobbling Yan's arms while got hugged by her. Yan's painful expression is interesting, but it's time for them to wake up. I separate both of them and pinch both of their cheeks.
"Ouch ouch, stop brother, I'm already wake up," Rin says after got pinched by me.
Yan, on the other hand, looking at me like her archenemy with a little tear in her eyes while stroking her cheek. "Can you a little gentle when waking up a lady," she squawk.
When hearing her saying that, I shrug my shoulder, "A proper lady will wake up in time. Come on, wash your face, it's breakfast time."
After that, they immediately go to the bathroom and wash their face, while I go to the mother bedroom and want to wake her up too. However, looking at her sound sleep and remember how much she works lately, I cover her with a blanket and get out of her bedroom. I will leave her share later for when she wakes up.
After coming back to the dining room, I see both of my sisters already there, preparing breakfast for us.
Looking at me come alone, they ask where mother. However, after hearing my explanation, they soon understand and will leave warm food for mom.
I sit in the chairs with them. It's a norm for our family to eat together but there are some exceptions like today, "Thank you for the meal," we say with a low voice together.
It's a tradition from my mother family, an appreciation sign to the world, giving us something to eat. She still follows it until now, and these sisters followed her until now. They nagged me to follow her too. Finally, I relent to their nagging, and before eating, I usually said that sentence too with them.
It's a nice experience for me, appreciating and eating food with family. Something that I never did before.
After finished eating, we're together washing plates and cutleries. Yan still looks angry, but after bantering a while, soon her mood improve again. What a cute sister.
Sun already high, so I prepare to do my job. After taking my white uniform, I immediately go to work.
"Everyone, I go out first."
Rin is waving at me with a smile even after I quite far away. Ah, what a little angel.
