Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Riverwood

Seeing the small reward I sighed but placed it within Constitution.

Since this world is much like a medieval one I would need a strong and healthy body to survive this new world, even more so if this world has magic...

As I walked along Ralof for a while I learned much about this world and the countless people that live within it.

He told me about the Stormcloak, their goals, and their beliefs and he told me of the Empire and the Thalmor.

He told me about the races that dwell across Tamriel and even about what he knew of the Dragons and the Dragonborn, Warriors who could permanently slay a Dragon by absorbing its soul and he also told me that the Dragonborn were masters of the Thu'um, the Voice, an Old Nordic Way to fight with just your voice and words, how horrifying!

The more I learned about Skyrim and Tamriel the more interested I became.

I was shocked to find that many Nords, the natives of Skyrim, did not like Magic or have any good opinions on it besides Restoration Magic which was the Magic used by healers.

They don't have good opinions on Magic because they do not think it is honorable and they think magic is a curse because of something that happened at Winterhold, Ralof wouldn't go too deep in detail on that one though, he just told me that if I wanted to know more than I should visit Winterhold myself.

Soon hours passed and we found ourselves at a large rushing river.

To our left was some kind of old structure with three stones that had carvings on them stood.

"The Guardian Stones, The Warrior, The Mage, and the Thief. They say that these stones bless those that touch them, why not give it a try?" Ralof asked me.

I shrugged and walked over to the stones and touched the one that had the carving of a Warrior.

[You have touched the Warrior Stone and have obtained the Warrior Stone Buff: 100% easier to learn how to fight or use a weapon. Note that you can only have one stone blessing at a time]

"Oh?" I questioned

"The Warrior Stone, eh? They say that the Blessing of this stone would help those blessed become Great Warriors," Ralof informed me.

"And the two other stones?" I asked.

"The Mage Stone helps people learn Magic while the Thief Stone would help people become better thieves..." Ralof told me as he was clearly disappointed in the last stone.

Hmmm, after some deciding I kept the Warrior Stone, although magic interested me it didn't mean that I shouldn't focus on learning how to properly use my weapons first.

"How far we from Riverwood?" I asked Ralof who was waiting on me.

"Around 30 minutes down the river," Ralof informed me.

I nodded and we rushed down the river until we could see a small walled village sitting next to the river.

Looking at the village we both sighed in relief.

"You said you had family here? A place where we can rest for a bit and get some food?" I asked Ralof.

"Ay, my sister and her husband live here and work on the Wood Mill, we should be able to rest for the night and get something to eat," Ralof told me.

"Good," I told Ralof as I looked up to the sky and seeing that it was around 6:00 PM and it would be dark in a few hours.

Soon we reached the town and headed over to the mill where we met with his sister, Gerdur.

She offered us a place to stay for the night and some gold and supplies.

Ralof left early the next morning for Windhelm, the capital for the Rebellion while I stayed back and entered the town's General Store.

Once I stepped in I found myself before an argument.

"Well one of us has to do something!" shouted a woman.

"I said no! No adventures, no theatrics, no thief-chasing!" shouted the man behind the counter in response.

"Well, what are you going to do then, huh? Let's hear it!" Shouted the woman.

"We are done talking about this! Oh, ahem, a customer. Sorry, you had to hear that," The man apologized when he saw me.

"What was all that about?" I asked with curiosity.

"We had a...bit of a break-in, but we still have plenty to sell. Robbers were only after one thing. An ornament, solid gold. In the shape of a dragon's claw," He informed me.

"I could help if you would like," I offered.

"You could? I've got some coin coming in from my last shipment. It's yours if you bring my claw back. If you're going after those thieves, you should head to Bleak Falls Barrow, northeast of town," He informed me.

"So, this is your plan, Lucan?" Asked his sister.

"Yes. So now you don't have to go, do you?"

"Oh really? Well, I think your new helper here needs a guide," She told her brother.

"Wh...no...I...Oh, by the Eight, fine! But only to the edge of town!" Her brother gave up.

I watched as the sister smiled victoriously before pulling me out of the store.
