Chapter 20: Chapter 19: Yuna
(Alexander POV)
"Why?" Chloe asked with confusion.
"I need to do something and it will be really dangerous. I'm fine myself but you will 100% get hurt and I don't want that." I said with a shrug.
"We are party members. I can't let you face anything dangerous alone. Do you expect me to simply run away if we encounter trouble that we cannot solve?" She stood her ground proudly.
"Sigh, listen here. I have some secrets. Some cannot be shared with you yet. No, it is not that I don't trust you. I mean I already showed you my inventory. The thing is, what I'm about to do is something the fewer people know the better. Just believe in me. I'm 100% safe as long as you leave." With a sigh, I explained my stance.
"But-" She tried to speak but I placed a finger on her lips to stop her.
"Can you just believe in me? When did I ever lie to you? I said with a smile.
"Since the start? Right, Mr. 'Ruben'." With a smirk, she answered.
"Ahahaha yeah sorry about that. But you need to understand that you shouldn't give your name to random people." I answered with a wry smile.
"Tch, it irritates me that you are correct. But I hate it when you call me a random person." Chloe said with a pout.
"Yeah, I won't call you that anymore. Anyway, what I am saying is whatever happens do not go looking for me. Even if a random monster shows up and starts killing everyone on Dragonspine. A dragon appears rampaging. Don't look for me. The whole Dragonspine exploded and got deleted from the map. DON'T LOOK FOR ME. You got it? We will meet each other on Angel Share in the capital city of Mondstadt 300 days from now. If something happens that I cannot come, then I will start looking for you. But whatever happens, do not go looking for me. Understand?" I said with a tone that would not take no for an answer.
"You are unfair. Are you saying that I cannot worry for you?!" With red eyes, she answered with a scowl.
I could see her frustrated face as she cutely scowled at me. With a defeated voice, I said, "No. It's not like that. It's just that I know for a fact that no matter what happens, I WILL SURVIVE. I will be doing something dangerous that I already decided on doing before, I even met you. What I am going to do is important. It is to prepare for the future. Just believe in me ok? I'll tell you more after we meet up 10 months from now."
Chloe looked into my eyes and we had a staring contest. After who knows how long she dejectedly answered.
"Just be safe. You told me that we would travel together so take responsibility for your words. Don't leave me behind, please." She answered as her voice got shaky with every word until she couldn't hold on and tears started flowing out of her eyes.
I sighed and only nodded while I pulled her close as I embraced her tight.
Now, I feel bad. At first, I saved her just because she was hot and I could easily do so but after that incident and we started traveling together, I started to view her as my little sister.
Being with her was fun, very fun. I know she still hasn't gotten over her brother's death and I know I cannot completely replace him but I'll try.
'I always wanted a little sister when I was on Earth, so now that I found one, I feel like an ass for making her cry.' I said to myself as she calmed down.
While we are not blood-related, I feel connected with her. We might not be completely the same but it was close.
'I need to be gentler with my words. She might not show it but she is most likely still traumatized from what happened.' I thought with a smile as I patted her head.
"Chloe, look at me." I said as I placed both of my hands on her cheeks.
Her cute little head slowly moved as her red eyes met mine.
"I will not abandon you. I will not leave you. But I need to do this for our future. I promise after 300 days we will meet each other again on Mondstadt. But for now, we need to separate. You need to create a new identity so you can live your life so registering as an adventurer using a new name would be the best. Try not to get that famous though, some people might snoop around and link you to the Fatui, better be safe than sorry." I said with a warm smile as I looked into her eyes.
With a little bit of hesitation, Chloe smiled and said with a bratty tone, "You promised right? Take responsibility for everything you say. In 300 days, if you don't show up. I will find you myself and you won't like it."
"Haha, sure, sure. If I don't come find you in 300 days, then you can show me how I won't like it." I replied with a smirk.
"Name" She muttered as she looked into my eyes.
"Huh?" I replied a little bit confused.
"Give me a name, you said I need to register using a new name. I want you to be the one to name me. A name that will be the start of my new life." Chloe said seriously while staring straight into my eyes.
Her eyes gave me chills, 'Something changed I don't know what but I'm getting goosebumps.' I said to myself as I stared into Chloe's dark-red eyes.
After a few minutes of thinking, I answered, "Yuna, from now on. I'll call you Yuna, it means 'gentleness' and 'kindness'."
"Yuna, I like that name." Chloe no, Yuna said as she smiled at me. Normally her smile brings a kind of warmth but now it is giving me goosebumps. It might just be my imagination. I hope.
