Chapter 17: Cooperating With Diluc!

Chapter 17

The gate of Wolf of the North Temple was already open. When the two came near the entrance, they found that the floor was submerged in water, and the water level was up to the ankles.

There were also a few pieces of slime condensate lying around.

"Someone killed the slimes here!" Diluc said after determining the situation.

Not all slimes drop condensate after dying. So, it is easy to guess that someone eliminated many slimes in this place.

Both of them jumped down, splashing water everywhere.

Jason lowered his body and took out a container to collect the scattered pieces of slime condensate.

"Are you really interested in this?" Diluc looked at his action in disbelief. He didn't think a rich man like Jason would collect these condensates.

"These slime condensates are useful to make some drinks, adding a unique flavor to it. You should try adding it to some of your wine, and maybe the flavor turns out to be good." Jason suggested.

"What!? You add this stuff in the drinks!?"

Diluc raised his voice and questioned him in disbelief. It was difficult for him to maintain his expression after hearing such a shocking fact.

Then, he couldn't help but feel a bit nauseous thinking about it. In the past, he loved Good Hunter's iced drinks.

Jason always served him those drinks with a weird face. At that time, he was confused about why Jason made such a face, but now he understands everything.

There's no denying that he likes the drink's flavor. But after hearing about the ingredients, he didn't know what to say...

"It's not harmful and toxic... So what are you afraid of?" Jason tried to dispel his worries.

But Diluc ignored his words, clenched his fists tightly, and inwardly vowed that he would never order a Good Hunter's iced drink again!

It didn't take much time to collect the slime condensate.

So, the two continued to run towards the passage ahead.

After a while, they found a flamethrower blocking their way.

But the core of the flamethrower was frozen, disabling it.

Both of them were next to each other, keeping a certain distance.

After walking ahead, they found a drop of slime condensate in the hall's center.

This scene proves that someone has been here not long ago.

And if the other party can safely pass the first flamethrower, they can do the same for the other.

But, the other flamethrower at the end of the hall was defrosted when they arrived and started activating.

"Now, let's hope that Kaeya is still alive!" Diluc said with some worry.

Kaeya's cryo element can temporarily freeze the core of the flamethrower and pass safely.

But the other flamethrower has been defrosted, meaning that a certain amount of time has passed since Kaeya left this place.

If he really encountered a cryo abyss mage...

"Kaeya's up ahead. Let's go quickly!" Jason said and waved his hands.

Jason also didn't forget to collect the dropped piece of slime condensate.

A rock wall stopped directly in front of the flames spewed by the flamethrower. So, the two quickly ran through it.

"Geo element is really convenient..." Diluc said with some envy.

Even if he is a pyro vision holder, it will be embarrassing to force through such flames.

He won't be hurt...

But his clothing will undoubtedly be burnt to some extent...

There were no monsters along the way.

After some time, a pool of underwater spikes blocked their way, and it was impossible to swim through it due to the spikes.

But Jason just snorted and ignored the difficulty ahead.

He created a rock wall beneath his feet and made his way through the pool.

Diluc also followed him from behind.

"Is your Geo element inexhaustible?" Diluc couldn't help muttering.

Elemental energy stored in a vision is limited. So after each use, it needs to reabsorb from the atmosphere.

Therefore, there will be a certain interval between the use of elemental skills, commonly known as a cooldown.

Vision holder needs to wait for their vision to recharge before using elemental skills again.

"You guess..." Jason laughed and didn't explain.

Vision is an external magical organ used to store atmospheric elements. But didn't have nor need such a thing.

"Tsk..." Diluc clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"Shh..." Suddenly Jason gestured at Diluc to keep quiet.

Because when they were approaching the top floor of the temple, he felt a unique chill. He determined that someone was using the cryo element.

Diluc is a pyro vision holder, so he is also sensitive to such a sudden drop in temperature.

The two looked at each other and nodded.

They tacitly separated in left and right directions and carefully approached the entrance.

The source of the cold is inside.

The hall was filled with abundant ice elements making the other elements less in comparison.

"Kaeya hit the jackpot!" Diluc felt Jason had a crow's mouth. [A/N: (crow's mouth) It means when someone opens their mouth, what they say will come true (usually unlucky events)]

Fortunately, it was Kaeya who suffered instead of him...

Many ice elements permeated the air, showing that the battle between Kaeya and the Abyss Mage was not over.

In another word, Kaeya is still alive!

So, the two of them leaned against the wall and peered inside.

There was frost everywhere inside the hall, and some parts of Kaeya's hair and clothes were frozen.

Opposite him, the ice-attribute Abyss Mage supported its shield and chanted unrecognizable words, continuously drawing the surrounding cryo element from the leylines.

Even if ice elements are abundant here, the elemental absorption speed of Kaeya's vision is not as fast as his enemy.

"Kaeya is in danger!" Jason secretly said.

If he and Diluc didn't come here in time, maybe they would have lost Kaeya forever.

Vision holders are very important to Jason for his system upgrade and level-ups.

If one dies, there will be a decrease in the upper limit of his level.

Diluc quickly drew out a long sword from behind.

The two of them briefly exchanged gestures and then nodded to each other.

Diluc started condensing many fire elements and activated his elemental burst skill.

Then, Diluc heavily swung down his sword.

The flames converged into his weapon, summoning a Phoenix that flew out of the sword.

"Dawn!" Diluc shouted the name of his elemental burst skill.

Wherever the phoenix flew, the surrounding frost quickly evaporated or melted into running water and fell.

At the same time Diluc unleased his elemental burst, Jason approached the entrance and unleased a gust of wind.

Then, his hands held an invisible sword hidden by the wind and slashed downwards.

"Wind Wave Slash!"

Like a huge wave, the wind elements came up from behind him at a faster speed, hitting the flying phoenix.

BOOM!

After the two attacks hit each other, they exploded close to the abyss mage.

The wind blew the fire and expanded the range of explosion.

The fusion of anemo and pyro elements triggered an elemental reaction.

The cryo abyss mage bore the burnt of the explosion, shattering its shield instantly.

After the explosion, a shadow hung above the abyss mage.

It was our Darknight Hero, Diluc.

Diluc raised his sword, still burning with flames, and slammed it towards the abyss mage.
