Chapter 10: Who said the kid is going to lose?

He slowly retrieved the ability crystal before placing it in Lucy's hand.

Seeing this sight, Leon couldn't help but facepalm.

It's not that he was disappointed in Lucas or anything, in fact seeing this made his opinion on Lucas slightly better.

He'd seen how the kid was mercilessly killing creatures and if he put aside his admiration at the boy's natural combat talent, he couldn't help but feel something slightly off about the kid.

He didn't flinch at the death throes of a gutted goblin or when covered in the blood of his kills, the kid didn't even wince and only frowned at the slight inconvenience.

Leon had even started to put him on his watch list of the future for potential threats. It was that bad!

But After seeing this, Leon's worries dimmed considerably because he'd seen the side that Lucas was hiding from everyone.

Behind the exterior of the cruel child Killer was a completely incurable utter sis-con!

Lucy took the crystal from Lucas and placed it on her wrist gem.

Slowly, a wave of golden energy could be seen glowing over her.

As soon as this light show ended , Lucy stretched forth her hand towards her brother's face and softly spoke

"Heal."

Slowly, a ray of warm light could be seen leaving her hand as Lucy directed it at Lucas's face.

Suddenly, a warm itching sensation could be felt all over Lucas's body as his wounds slowly healed.

The crowd watched on in amazement as wounds and cuts in the young boy's body slowly disappeared.

Seeing this, Lucy was overjoyed. She had finally been able to help her big brother!

Lucy carefully touched Lucas's cheek to make sure that everything was alright before letting out a dazzling smile.

"There you go brother, it's all better now."

Seeing the proud smile on Lucy's face, Lucas was left stunned before a gradual smile broke out onto his face.

It was truly a heartwarming scene amongst siblings, a rare sight in this cruel new world.

But as if by some twisted law, beautiful things never managed to last in the world of <Haven> and this scene would be no different, as a cold shout soon sounded out.

"Hey kid!"

Hearing this call, Lucas turned around to see a large muscular figure approaching him, his whole body covered in blood whilst he dragged a sword across the floor.

As soon as Lucas saw the man, his smile faded away as he reverted back to his true cruel and apathetic nature.

The man didn't seem to pay any attention to Lucas's change.

"Kid, I'm injured, so get your sister to heal me."

Hearing the man's words, Lucas just sneered as he responded

"10 Attribute Crystals."

"Pardon?" asked the man

"I said 10 attribute Crystals. You don't expect my sister to work for free? Healing takes energy from my sister, so it's only right that she's rewarded for her efforts"

"Kid..." said Jeff, his voice echoing with a commanding tone

"I'm warning you, Don't push things too far..."

But unfortunately for Jeff, his warnings seemed to have no effect as Lucas replied without a change in his expression

"I don't care about your warning." said Lucas

"If you can't pay, then scram!"

"Haha!" laughed Jeff

Jeff almost couldn't believe what he was seeing.

Was this kid actually going to refuse him??

"It seems like someone was never taught about respecting their elders!"

As Jeff spoke, he slowly began to approach Lucas, but even as he saw this, Lucas didn't back down. Instead, he just slowly withdrew his short sword and stared back fearlessly.

Lucy could just watch on nervously as her brother prepared to fight.

And it wasn't just Lucy who was uncomfortable,

As all this was going on, Leon was sitting on a log counting his attribute Crystals, but suddenly he looked up to see a rather pretty brown-haired woman approach him.

If Leon could remember correctly, this was Jessica bishop, one of the people who had made it into the contribution rankings from the first battle.

"So are you just gonna let this happen?" Asked Jessica in disbelief

As Leon heard Jessica, he looked up and asked,

"Huh? What else am I supposed to do?"

"You are the leader of the group!" scolded Jessica

"Are you really just going to watch on as a grown man beats up a child?"

Leon wasn't fazed by Jessica's Loud shouting and emotionlessly replied

"The kid is the one who said it costs 10 attribute crystals to be healed. I won't let the boy be killed, but as long as there are no life-threatening injuries or killing from both parties, don't expect me to get involved.

If you want to create rules, you must first make sure you're strong enough to enforce them. This is something the kid has to learn for himself."

"But…" said Jessica

But seeing Leon's nonchalant expressions, she knew that nothing she could do would change the man's opinion, so in turn she walked off towards the fight.

But before Jessica could leave, she felt someone grab her wrist

"Where do you think you're going?" asked a cold voice

"I'm going to help a child, something you're not willing to do!"

Jessica just couldn't understand Leon.

From the way he killed and acted, Jessica knew Leon was a vicious man. But to even go so far as to ignore the plight of a small child, it was something that made her opinion of him drop even further than it had originally been.

But Leon didn't seem to care Jessica's opinion and continued speaking.

"This is his fight. He caused it, so he should be able to solve it."

"But…" started Jessica

"But what?" asked Leon as he cut her off

"Do you think you'll be there to protect the boy his whole life? The sooner he learns, the better."

But before Jessica could respond, Leon carried on speaking as a smile finally appeared on his face.

"Besides, "said Leon

"Who said the kid is going to lose?"

As soon as Jessica heard this, she was left stunned, but seeing the smirk on Leon's face, she couldn't help but raise an eyebrow and she turned to look towards the confrontation.
