Chapter 231: Bonus Chapter

"!!"

As all the gathered members of the light watched the central screen on which Arias's figure was displayed, their eyes remained glued at Vandal Savage's head, in complete and utter shock.

A momentary silence prevailed, with none of the members even sure of how to react toward what they seeing.

This was "the" Vandal Savage, a man older than human civilization itself. The only one among them who'd come close to uniting the world under one banner.

And yet there was his head, frozen in a contorted expression that looked to be in equal shock.

The only collective thought that ran through the minds of all the members was…

How? Just How did Arias achieve this monumental feat.

As their minds churned for answers, Klarion, a close ally of Vandal, reacted first.

"Hey! What's going on? Is this some sort of prank? Because I hate getting pranked!" His childish demeanor didn't fade as he expressed genuine confusion at what he was seeing.

Arias maintained a small and leaned back into his seat, raising his legs casually and resting them on Vandal's head as if he were a foot stool, soon replying to the shocked Klarion.

"Oh, I assure you, this is no prank. You see, me and Vandal here had a little bit of a quarrel regarding boundaries. He simply happened to step into mine and well… here we are."

A smirk emerged as Arias casually spoke cryptically of what happened. Leaving everyone equally surprised at just how absurd this situation was.

Why? Because if any of them had to face Vandal Savage in a fight to the death, none could claim they could win, at least not without suffering immense losses themselves.

Yet Arias looked not only unscathed but also unshaken, like it was the simplest of tasks for him.

Soon, Ra's who had been contemplating everything in silence, spoke up, his tone stoic and composed despite the shock he was inwardly feeling.

"Although the light does not forbid resolving personal conflicts among each other, it does forbid the taking of another members life."

Despite what Ra's saw, he was a man of principle and held pride in that. Regardless of how powerful Arias was or what means he used to handle Vandal Savage, he still felt that the rules he had contributed to making must be followed.

If his decision led to his death at the hands of Arias, he'd have no regrets. But if he allowed Arias to walk over him simply because he was stronger, then it was no better than abandoning everything he stood for.

The other members were quite shocked at this statement from Ra's but it wasn't completely unexpected given his character.

Among them, only Klarion and Ra's would be bold enough to speak freely, as even the usually mouthy Queen Bee didn't dare speak.

Unlike the other two, she was cunning enough to not jeopardize her life to spout some foolish words. Whichever side was stronger, was right, that was way of progressing.

And as The Brain, his stance was perhaps the simplest. He followed a logical line of reasoning for all situations.

And this one, it was as clear as 1+1. Arias beat Vandal, hence if I make him an enemy, he'll beat me, there was no ifs or whats about it.

Following this mixed set of views, Arias maintained his calm expression and lowered his legs from Vandal's head, bringing his hand forward and smacking Vandal's cheek ever so slightly.

"Don't worry, I'm well aware of our rules. I was actually quite surprised to learn just how durable he was, despite his disappointing offensive performance. Nothing has changed, I simply thought I needed the other members to be aware that he may be recuperating for a bit, after all, that's also in the rules."

Hearing Arias's answer, Ra's found he could not argue.

"That is correct. If that is the case then it's fine."

Seeing as no rules were broken, Ra's no longer had any problems with the matter, if anything, he was quite happy inside to see the usually self-absorbed Vandal Savage be reduced to such a pitiful state.

On the other hand, he took interest in not only Arias's power but his overall character. He had initially held him quite highly especially given all that was happening due to him, but to think he had all this power, it showed Ra's something he rarely ever saw in men of power… discipline.

It was no secret to the light that Arias had delt with Superman on more than one occasion, and now adding Vandal to the list, it was plainly clear his power was great, just how great? They could only guess.

But to Ra's anyone with that much power would have a hard time showing restraint. Yet Arias, has been nothing but just that, restrained.

He gave up all his wealth to pursue other endeavors without batting an eye. He toyed with his own reputation without care and he built a foundation to spread his teaching to younger minds and even show the greater public the true darkness of the world.

No matter how Ra's looked at it, Arias wasn't that much different from him, and this sparked even greater interest from Ra's.

"What? But, that's not fair! If I did that I'd totally be in trouble!" Seeing Ra's stance on the matter return to neutral, Klarion began to whine, his hostility fading.

As Klarion began to rant toward Ra's, Arias turned his attention toward the two members who were yet to speak.

"I'm yet to hear your thoughts on this matter. If you have any concerns or feel that I may have overstepped, please let me know so we may resolve those conflicts too."

Although he said this in a tone that carried etiquette, Queen Bee and The Brain simply saw it as invitation to die.

"Men will be men, what you do in your spare time is none of my concern." Queen Bee eloquently replied, tried her best to maintain a solid expression so as to not look shaken. The last thing she needed was to show weakness.

As for the Brain, despite being a close aide of Vandal, the machine housing his brain flashed brightly as he answered quickly.

"Non non monsieur, no problems."

Hearing this, Arias gave an understanding nod. "I see. Well then, I apologize for disturbing all of you. But as per rules, while he recuperates, a temporary member must act as the collective voice of the light." Arias suddenly added, his eyes shimmering with an eerie glow.

"Any suggestions?"
