Chapter 9: TOWER OF GOD: Are we even inside the TOWER
Amitayus POV
The man invited us to his house being in a place completely unknown to me even with my knowledge of TOWER OF GOD I seemed a bit hesitant at first then I turned to ask for ALICE's opinion after some time we agreed to take his offer. The village which looked small before is much larger when seen from inside. We were warmly welcomed by a noble-looking lady which can make any man go head over heels for her she has long black glossy hair and greeted us with a warm smile on her face. She introduced herself as Charlotte, wife of Rey which makes me remember a quote from my previous life "Never judge a book by its cover". After that, we were taken by some maids to refresh as we were tired after the long journey. After taking a bath I was covering my lower part with a towel and looking at this village some children were still playing games while on another side of the road there were some old fellows gathering and discussing and laughing from time to time which reminded me of that one time visit to the countryside. While I was drying my hair I heard a voice "Amita-- Aaaaahh why aren't you wearing something" Daam she was Alice I didn't notice while remembering my past life but I reacted fast after noticing if I say so myself and arrived outside after dressing.
Alice POV
What was that jerk thinking standing by the window half-naked, Oh my god what do I do How should I confront him should I act as if nothing happened Yeah that would be better He soon exited from his room and appeared in front of me I was so deep in my thought that I didn't notice what he was saying "Alice ALICE is something wrong?" I shifted my gaze our eyes met I have observed him but this was the first time seeing him this close I held my breath. His eyes looked like it was gate for another world perfectly matching his hair which is tied by a red hairband in the back. I took a step back "Nothing, I was just thinking about something" which is countered by "What might be the Princess be thinking about?" I just hate when he uses Princess to refer me but for some reason, I didn't react this time.
"It's just that this village looks very different from other areas of the tower I think this is an unexplored region?"
"I don't think it is an unexplored region but rather a remote area remember that man he referred to us as regulars but we also can't rule out the possibility of this being unexplored region come on we will know after talking to them" he replied then we both came in the dining hall to where everyone is gathered Rey was now in some royal dress and sitting beside her is Charlotte and two children the boy looked like 12 years old and the girl was younger than her we took a place on the opposite side of the table the dishes served were really lavish and like royalty, after the diner, we were invited by Rey for a private conversation we parted our ways with the children.
Amitayus POV
I saw that the little girl has taken a liking to Alice she was really enjoying her time. After finishing diner and playing with children for some time Rey took us to a room that looked like a library but giving an ancient vibe like its been here for 1000s of years and no one visited this place for quite some time as the dirt collecting on the books was quite thick. Rey took out an old book and removed the dirt on it we shook our hands to remove the flying dirt "Cough cough! Regulars of the Tower I don't think you know about this place and its function do you?" he asked. Both of us shook our head in NO then he began to explain
"Would you believe me if I say that this is the place is where ZAHARD and his companion took their first test after clearing the second floor, there is not much evidence to prove the fact but some documents refer to this place as 'BEGINNING OF THE GREAT JOURNEY' I came to this place ten thousand years ago at that time I was just assigned as a ranker and I wanted to explore the whole TOWER after some time I found this place but this place is bounded by a rule and anyone who entered here can't return."
I jumped from my seat "What!!! Then how are we supposed to climb the TOWER?" I questioned does my grand journey is going to end without a beginning.
"Don't worry the rule only applies to RANKERS and above regulars can escape this place by taking a test on the other side of the lake" he continued
"That's a relief," Alice said with a sigh
"No that's not a relief, the test you have to take is the same as the test Zahard took with his companion but it will be much harder for you as you are only two"
Now I understand the gravity of what he was saying ZAHARD took the test with his 12 irregular companion so this was much easier for him but to us, it's going to be hell itself Alice was also thinking the same thing then she asked "How can we take the test?"
"Do you guys still want to take the test after hearing me? I suggest you give up and live here it's not bad living here." he showed a concerned face
"No there is something I have to do and settle some personal business" I replied
"Very well but as you are now you will not last even 10seconds in the test so I will train you guys for the next 8 months"
"8 months!!! We can't wait for that long it will take longer for us to reach the 20th floor in 5 years" I pointed.
"If you had some business then you shouldn't have ventured this deep in the forest" Rey said and I think what he was saying was correct but still I can't put myself at ease.
In the end, Alice and I discussed and agreed to train with him to clear the test. We were full so we headed to our room to get some rest.
