Chapter 2: Reborn

"This world is boring. Needless work, to earn money. Money to do what? To eat, to live, to laugh? What comes next? Death, tears. All that food, work, and happiness decomposes along with the body and becomes part of the soil. So why live? What's the point? To die again; To go to heaven? What happens next, happiness? Then what? Nothing!" He thought as he slit his wrists.

Blood splattered everywhere; the walls, the ceiling, his face. It didn't bother him. He sat there with the blood pooling around him with the expressionless face he wore every day. "What is pain? A reaction occurring from the nerves when your body is in bad shape? I would love to feel that one day," He stated, as his head began feeling faint and his body collapsed on the floor.

He awoke in a white room. It was a hospital room. "I'm not dead yet," he said, with the most indifferent tone of voice.

"Oh, you are but dead," A loud voice said. "You took your own life, right?"

"It seems you already know the answer to that,"

"You're not even in the least bit startled?"

"I don't feel emotions. But I think you already have the answer to that as well,"

"You're not going to ask who I am?"

"I know very well who you are. Tell me, what happens after death?"

"You usually have two choices. You can either go to heaven or hell. I would put you in heaven, but you are not interested, correct?"

"Hm, just as I thought. So what is going to happen to me?"

"You shall be reincarnated. In a world that is unknown to you. In a world where you will not be renowned as the smartest on the planet,"

"I would like that very much," He said. "A redo. So, what are we waiting for?"

"Any requests?"

"No, thank you,"

And the boy was in a world. At first glance, nothing was different. Well, his perspective was. He wasn't told he was going to be a baby. He was taken to te hospital many times because he rarely cried. His mother was kind and beautiful and his father was firm and strong. He was born into a royal family as the youngest child.

5 Years Later

He had learned where he was. He didn't know what to call it, but it seemed people had powers to control elements. He was in the fire nation. There were four nations in total: The Fire Nation, The Air Nomads, The Water Tribe, and The Earth Nation. From his research, the fire nation ruled all. It was a dictatorship. They had conquered all nations. All but Earth. The Earth Nation was the only nation that rivaled the Fire Nation. They had strength individually and strength in numbers. The nation covered the most lands and while the Fire nation had taken over some villages, they could never take over the two biggest cities: Ba Sing Se, and Omashu.

Aside from that, he had the power of fire. Since he was the youngest in the family, he expected to never get the throne because his brother and sister were older than him, but that apparently did not matter. The King was the strongest in the family. The one who could pull all the weight and make the Fire Nation prosper.

{A/N: I didn't put a name because I couldn't decide on one. His name is Ozai after his father.}

Ozai was sure to be the Fire Lord as he was smart, with an IQ of 200. His firebending was prodigious as well. Ozai quickly became the father's favorite and it was evident. He had advanced so far that his brother and sister were jealous. His father called him into a meeting room. He was told about the Avatar and despite the Avatar being lost for 100 years, he was sure to return.
