I watch in delighted mischief as Lucas keeps staring at Mirabel like a demented fool. Completely besotted by a woman he just met.

Man, I am going to tease him so badly when we are free.

But right now, we have a serious issue to handle.

"Get yourself under control, Lucas!" I bark at him through the mindlink and watch as he starts into attention, his eyes flickering to me.

"Mate," he whispers to me, eyes wide and lost and it takes all of my strength to not break into a smile.

"I know," I tell him. "But right now, her mother is in trouble. You remember who I am talking about. Fredja?"

"Fredja," he repeats. "Fredja, eight. Sorry. Let's get back to business."

Once I am sure that he is back to his normal self, I turn back to the rest and notice that they are all watching the both of us.
