Chapter 2: 2. Wakanda and the Prince

Wakanda, officially known as the Kingdom of Wakanda, is a small isolationist landlocked country located in Africa, surrounded by mountain ranges and a thick jungle.

Wakanda is a constitutional monarchy, with King T'chaka as the head of state.

Well according to most outsiders that is.

But in reality, It is one of the most technologically advanced nations on Earth, known for its rich deposits of the element Vibranium.

2.5 million years ago, a meteorite made of the alien element Vibranium landed in the heart of Africa, greatly affecting the surrounding flora. Centuries later, five tribes colonized the area and went to war over the metal, which they referred to as Isipho.

One day, Bashenga a great shaman from the panther tribe was guided by a vision of Bast who led him toward a plant that had mutated as a result of the metal's radiation.

Upon ingesting the herb, Bashenga discovered he had been imbued with superhuman abilities and instincts so he used them to unite the tribes as the first King of Wakanda and the first "Black Panther".

Four of the tribes pledged their loyalty to Bashenga; the fifth, the Jabari Tribe, refused to pledge allegiance and settled into the northern mountains to continue adhering to a more traditional and primitive way of life, while the rest of Wakanda continued to develop into a modernized rule.

Bashenga's lineage would come to form a sixth pseudo-tribe named the Golden Tribe, which included a line of his royal descendants that continued to survive into the modern day, thus establishing the Kingdom of Wakanda.

During the country's development, the Wakandans used Vibranium to develop technology that was far more highly advanced than any other in existence.

To protect themselves from the chaos that was slowly consuming the rest of the world, they created a cloaking field that allowed them to hide in plain sight.

European explorers were later attracted by Wakanda's vibranium deposits and began expeditions to find the Golden City, which later was associated with the myth of El Dorado following the arrival of the Spanish into Mesoamerica.

As time passed, the Golden City was established as Birnin Zana, which later became the capital city of the Kingdom and the heart of the nation.

This city was highly urbanized; Wakandan Maglev Trains were integrated for public transit and the transportation of other materials. At the center of the city is the Citadel, the Golden Tribe's royal palace.

In the throne room of Wakanda, King T'chaka looked at the empty hall and sighed. A king's job is exhausting, He would rather fight all day than listen to the elders nagging him for an hour at any time.

He stood up as Dora Milaje bowed and came to the window and looked at the ever-growing Wakanda. It's been more than a decade since he inherited the Mantle of both Protector and the King of Wakanda.

He has been away for more than 2 years from home because of a sudden uprising and riots on the border of Uganda near Wakanda.

It took him so much time because those bandits played gorilla warfare while his purpose was to remain hidden. After some efforts, they were repelled but before he could return home he had to deal with some 'explorers'.

--------------------------------------------

Being a KIng he gained glory, loyalty, faith, and respect but he also lost many things. Not being able to spend enough time with his family and friends was one of those.

It's been more than a week since he married his love of life Ramonda.

It got a couple of years late than they initially decided.

He looked behind as he heard some footsteps coming towards him, he saw his wife Queen Ramonda coming.

"ukumkani wam" (My King) she said. (in xhosa)

"none of that my love, how are you?"He smiled and asked.

"Oh, I am fine." She replied stiffly.

T'chaka turned his head slightly and ordered "leave us!" All Dora Milaje left silently.

"relax. why are you so stiff," he said as he put his hands on her shoulders.

"It's nothing," she said.

He chuckled and said, "I know you are worried about me, rest assured nothing will happen to me I am the Black Panther." and hugged her.

She rested her head on his chest and listened to his strong heartbeat. she sighed in relief.

"you know if we had married earlier, we should have been holding our firstborn right now." she smiled.

"Oh, how joyful would that-

A lightning Bolt shined from the sky and a deafening crackling roar of thunder accompanying it cut T'chaka's words in between.

T'chaka looked outside and saw that the sky that was clear and sunny a moment ago was getting darker as clouds gathered over Wakanda.

T'chaka hurriedly put on his suit and went downstairs followed by Ramonda and Dora Milaje. He met with people from the technical department and asked them about the sudden storm.

"My King, the storm is of a very strong magnitude. Wakanda has never seen such an intense storm." a short man wearing white garments said worriedly.

"My King, it is strange; according to our weather report, there is not even a 1% probability of rain these days, not to mention a storm. Our reports have never been wrong in decades." another man with a similar attire said.

T'chaka nodded and went outside. other people followed their king.

He held his helmet in his hand and looked up at the sky. In minutes it started raining heavily, and the sky started to rumble really loudly. he saw flashes of lightning up ahead.

The rain was pitter-pattering loudly, he was soaked in no time. Another lightning bolt came from the sky; the crackling sound of thunder made everyone shiver.

T'chaka ordered the River Tribe to close the gate near the river And to open the gates of the divergent Dam. Many people came outside their houses while some looked from inside worriedly.

Suddenly some people started shouting while looking at the sky. T'chaka noticed and followed their line of sight, he saw clouds in the sky forming an outline or a silhouette.

He narrowed his eyes and looked carefully, after a second he was stunned because he saw a cat-like form in the sky with faint sunlight coming from the cracks of the clouds with purple lightning surrounding it. It was the most spectacular scene he has ever seen in his life.

While everyone was in awe, a purple light descended from the sky in front of T'chaka.

Dora Milaje immediately drew their spears but T'chaka raised his hand and they stopped.

The purple light began to gather and took a form of a giant ethereal Phantom of a Panther.

T'chaka was startled and shocked to the core, He immediately knelt and shouted "Goddess Bast!" he opened his mouth to say something but he was too overwhelmed for that.

Other people all woke up from their stupor with shocked expressions. They looked at their King and the giant panther in front of them and a huge sense of awe took over them and immediately knelt and started chanting in their native languages...

The Panther walked toward T'chaka. The Panther was like a phantom with no physical body as it was not affecting any surroundings.

"Rise" T'chaka heard an ethereal voice. he hurriedly stood up and bowed his head. He noticed that the paw of the Panther Goddess was the size of his height.

Bast didn't talk any nonsense and raised her paw where some light gathered and a tiny bundle wrapped in white cloth appeared. She nudged it towards T'chaka who didn't waste a moment and took it with both hands.

"It is a gift from my lord father Amun Ra God of the Sun and the King of Gods; He will truly lead Wakanda Forever in the future," Bast said as she disappeared slowly and took the storm away with her.

T'chaka looked at the bundle in his hands and saw that it was a small baby; a boy with brown skin and shining hazel eyes; almost golden, who was looking intently at his helmet.

He exhaled a long breath he didn't know he was holding and looked at the boy and said solemnly "You shall be named Amon, the gift from the God Amun."

He held the baby in both of his hands and raised it above his hands and shouted with all his might, "People of Wakanda glory to Bast. I give you Prince Amon, the heir."

The Dora Milaje banged their spears on the ground before repeating the name while, "Hail, Prince Amon! Hail, Prince Amon! Hail, Prince Amon! Hail, Prince Amon! Hail...

The whole of Wakanda chanted as they watched the sky begin to clear and the Sunlight reflected on the Prince.
