Chapter 8: 8. The Well
The next day, Alex woke up groggily and went out of his room. He didn't get changed and just looked around for the two other occupants of the house.
Well, he was mostly looking for Bruce but Alfred can also be considered his family. 'Alfred has been there since I was a baby. So the bond with him can be considered quite strong'. Alex thought while he continued looking for Bruce all over the house.
Alex went to Bruce's room but didn't find him there. 'Where could he be?' He mused to himself and decided to visit the back of mansion.
Bruce had a habit of going there when he was upset or wanted to calm himself. 'He might've already found it'. Alex thought and looked for Alfred.
If he had slipped into the well then he will need Alfred's help to get him out of it. "Alfred! Alfred!" Alex shouted and looked for Alfred.
"What is it Master Alex?" Alfred calmly walked over while he addressed Him.
"I can't find Brother anywhere. He might have gone to the Back like always. Will you come with me?" Alex asked and looked at Alfred seriously.
"Very well master Alex". Alfred nodded and accompanied Alex to the Back.
They arrived at the back of the mansion and started looking for Bruce. Alex noticed a single bat flying above an area.
"I think I found a clue". Alex said and started to run towards that direction without waiting for Alfred.
They passed some bushes and saw an old well that looked like it would fall apart at any time. Alex quickly ran to it and saw Bruce crouching down, shivering at a side of the wall.
"Alfred! I found Bruce! Brother, don't worry, we'll get you out of there". Alex called Alfred loudly then reassured Bruce who looked up at him.
"Alex, why are you here? Stay away from there or". Bruce panicked and forgot about his fear when he saw Alex leaning on the well's wall.
He could even finish his words before the wall crumbled and Alex came tumbling down on top of him.
"Owwww, that hurts". Alex rubbed his ass. It was good that he fell on top of Bruce.
"Brother, are you okay?" Alex suddenly remembered Bruce who was below him and quickly stood up. Good thing that the well wasn't too deep.
He saw Bruce sprawled up below him and completely knocked out from the hit. He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly while laughing embarrassedly.
"Master Alex! Master Bruce!" Just then he heard Alfred's voice. He was yelling their names and looking for them.
"Alfred here! I'm in the well with Bruce!" Alex shouted back to get Alfred's attention.
"Master Alex, how did you get in there with Master Bruce?" Alfred asked, he was a bit worried and astonished.
"Ask questions later, first get us out of here". Alex said and looked up at Alfred.
"Right away". Alfred said and quickly went to get rope and a bucket to get them out.
"Brother, wake up! Wake up!" Alex shook Bruce while he tried to wake him up. When it didn't work, he pressed an acupuncture point and kickstarted his consciousness again.
Yujiro's experience was coming in handy during these kind of things. He didn't have Yujiro's full instincts and body capabilities but he did have the experience.
He didn't even need to practice as his body will slowly get stronger on its own till the age of 18 and he will have the Power that Yujiro spent his whole life for.
Alfred quickly came back with a bucket and a rope as he tied the rope to the bucket and threw the bucket in the well.
"Master Alex get in the bucket. I will get you out". As Alfred called out, Bruce had also started to wake up.
"Brother get in the bucket first". Alex said to Bruce on his side and urged him in.
"No, you go first. I will come after you". Bruce denied vehemently without even thinking.
Alex smiled at Bruce's care and insistence and got into the bucket without arguing with him further.
Alfred quickly pulled Alex up. He was quite light because of his age and then threw the bucket inside again to get Bruce out as well.
Bruce quickly got in and Alfred took him out of the well. After getting them out, Alfred sternly reprimanded them and warned them as a good butler and guardian.
"Don't worry Alfred. It won't happen again". Alex said and tilted his head down like an obedient child.
"Haaa, it's good that you understand". Alfred nodded his head. Pleased that Alex and Bruce weren't troublemakers.
"Master Bruce, you should take a bath and rest. You look haggard". Alfred looked over to Bruce and instructed lightly.
"I will take a bath together with Bruce". Alex said and ran to the mansion to get a bath. This was the age for him to enjoy these kinds of moments with his brother.
Afterwards, he won't be able to have these memories and moments. It will also allow him to take his mind off his parents' tragedy.
Alfred and Bruce smiled while they slowly made their way back to the Mansion after Alex. Alfred went to prepare the bath while Bruce took a change of clothes with him.
When he was done, the bath was already prepared and Alex was already inside, swimming in the huge tub full of bubbles.
'What, a man also has his moments of childishness'. Alex explained to no one and he continued have his little swim.
Bruce shook his head. 'Good that he can still be cheerful and act childish'. He thought with a smile and sat down in the bath to relax.
"Hey Bruce, do you think we'll be alright?" Alex suddenly asked that question to check Bruce's mentality.
Bruce was taken aback a bit but then he patted the seat next to him and let Alex sit there. "Don't worry Alex, even if Mom and Dad aren't here. You have me and Alfred. We'll make sure that nothing happens to you". Bruce said with a smile and faraway look on his face.
'I'm more worried about you Brother'. Alex thought but didn't say anything. He just sat there quietly with Bruce and enjoyed the peace.
