Chapter 24: Chapter 23: 10th floor

Sorry for the late update of the chapter. Until now, I was creating a discord server.

But to be honest with you, I understand almost nothing. I don't know how to moderate a server X'D.

================

"Ninth floor, huh? They certainly look worlds apart."

I stowed my bloody dagger inside the inventory and murmured in awe at the incredible view.

Both corridors and rooms had increased from the previous floor.

I looked up to find myself confronted with a sight seen only in fantasy.

The ceilings, once about four meters, were now suspended about ten meters above the floor. The walls were covered with brown mosses, and the once rocky floor had become a plain with short grasses flourishing.

Most striking, however, was the illumination entering the room. It was not produced by sunlight but by the phosphorescence from the small glowing stones embedded in the ceiling. An otherworldly look.

What am I saying? I'm in another world...

"Grrrrrrrr."

The goblin silhouettes staggered in the back of the dungeon. They were still oblivious to my presence.

The only monsters that inhabited these last few floors were goblins and kobolds, with the only difference being that they were a fiercer version than the previous ones.

That's right; I hadn't had a chance to try it yet.

I waved my arm, and a bluish bolt of lightning surrounded it. The intricate texture of the bow materialized in my hand. I pulled out a quiver of arrows and let it hang from my shoulders.

I raised the bow and placed a metal-tipped arrow between the body and the string. I pulled the line back while concentrating on the direction of the goblin.

How the fuck can I calculate wind speed, altitude, and all that shit? Physics is a pain in the ass.

*whistling!

As I released the string, the arrow shot out with a hiss, distorting the air in its path.

However, out of my expectations, the arrow deflected magnificently.

No, that was not my mistake!

The arrow buried itself in the ground about ten meters away from the monstrous group, raising a cloud of dust.

"Grrr!"

The goblins were alarmed by the noise as they raised the metal weapons they wielded with their slender fingers.

Although I could see extremely easily at long range, that didn't mean my aim was good, let alone perfect, unfortunately. Shooting with my fingers was much easier than being an archer.

"I have yet to acquire the passive skill .... Well, even the passive skill related to sword and dagger had taken time." There was nothing that practice couldn't solve. He also possessed the skill "Fast Learning," which helped quite a bit.

As the goblins cautiously watched the surroundings, I readied another arrow.

*Whistled!

The arrow shot out again towards the little green goblins...

"Grrr!"

As if they felt the burial of the arrow in the ground near them, the goblins jumped in fright. Now more than anything else, the goblins fixed their gazes on where I was.

Possibly they learned my position from the trajectory of the arrow. Not bad for bastards.

They moved towards me, brandishing the short swords in their hands. The disgust on their faces as they smiled was terrifying.

I pulled the arrow from the quiver and readied it. I sharpened my senses to put all my concentration on that shot.

Fifty yards was far for a novice bowman like me. I waited patiently until the goblins were about twenty yards away when my fingers loosened their grip on the string.

*whistle!

The arrow shot out and buried itself deep in the skull of the green monster, which gave a final interrupted grunt.

"Right! Bullseye!" I whistled with my fists in the air.

The other goblins didn't seem to mind that one of them was dead; on the contrary, with that disgusting grin spreading across their faces as they charged forward, it made them look happy.

I prepared another arrow, and using the head of the nearest goblin as a target, I fired.

The creature's head was pierced and perforated. Brain matter spurted out of the hole and salivated its last green companion.

Yuck...

"Grrr!"

The goblin changed its previous demeanor to a more cautious one. I could glimpse the trace of fear in its eyes, which made me wonder whether or not the monsters in the dungeon possessed intelligence.

Maybe it's just a monster's instinct. In any case, I didn't care.

The last goblin I shot had its eyes pop towards the back of its head.

I retrieved the three magic stones from the monsters and resumed my journey.

****

In the end, too much of the same thing over and over again can get very boring. This is especially true for me.

That was also the reason why, after killing and collecting the magic stones from the monsters that appeared in my paths, I abandoned the ninth floor.

There was nothing interesting in killing goblins and kobolds.

I reached the tenth floor.

A thin layer of fog enveloped the atmosphere, but thanks to my keen eyesight, I could see clearly. The crunching of the grass breaking under my feet gave me the sensation of walking through a forest.

A few minutes later, I found the first target—a dark-colored monster. The pointed tail and bat-like wings flapped behind its back. The distorted white-toothed grin, along with the small horn growing from its forehead, gave it a demonic appearance.

"This is an imp. They're the ones in charge of producing the mists, huh? Well, let's finish quickly." On the map I obtained were written the names of the monsters that inhabited these floors.

Not caring less, I leaped forward. I waved my dagger, and the imp's disbelieving eyes lost their reddish color as I sliced it in half. Blood gushed out as if from a broken pipe.

That was easy.

Up ahead, I noticed the reddish flash through the mist. It was the eyes of the little devils watching me from afar. How they were approaching so slowly and surely thought I didn't see them.

These imps usually stalk their prey from the mist before moving against adventurers with their guard down—crafty little buggers.

A smile broke out on my face. I approached where they were as if I didn't know their existence.

The little devils looked at each other and, with their long, slender forearms, began to reach out, creating a crescent shape in front of me. They intended to corner me.

A golden light emerged and covered my leg, illuminating even the room. As the golden rays frolicked, I stomped my foot and shot forward.

The imp's red eyes widened in surprise as they gnashed their teeth. They did their best to move their legs and scatter somehow; however, the gap closed in an instant so that when I waved the dagger, the neck of one of them was pierced.

I moved my legs and got in front of the other one. Panicking, the imp lashed out at me with its long arms in a futile attempt. It let out a terrifying shriek as its arm swept across the skies. I slid past it and landed on its head.

My next attack was a kick that shattered the monster's skull.

"Golden bullet!"

I pointed my finger, and three consecutive lightning bolts shot toward the imp's head. Without their heads attached to their necks, they collapsed to the ground.

The dark claw entered my field of vision. I leaned my body to the side and let the blow graze me. With the dagger raised, I pierced the imp's head with the metal tip protruding above it.

When I had finished my bloody hunt, I collected all the magic stones. On the previous floor, I collected everything missing for the system upgrade. The leftover weak magic stones I will sell in the guild.

"On the deeper floors, there should also be the "Infant Dragons." Interesting, I wonder what they look like."
