Chapter 57: Knowing each other

Osmond had taken Delta and her cage with him. Fern stared at the dog with her round jade eyes. Delta raised her head and looked around while sniffing the air.

"There is a small tavern called Magpie near here. We will go there," Riley said.

Magpie was a wooden tavern with three tables. Very few people came there and most of them were regulars. The server, a lady with a curvy body and round face came to them carrying a tray. Her wavy canary yellow was tied to her back. Two locks of her hair fell to her face. She wore a maroon dress and a white apron over it. Her blue eyes looked at the cage that was placed on the table.

"Didn't you know that pets are not allowed inside, Riley?" She said and frowned.

"It's just a small pup. It won't do nothing, Maggie."

"It better not," Maggie's eyes were still fixed on the cage.

"So, what do you guys need?" Maggie turned and asked Riley.

"I will have a beer and- the kids can have squeezed juice," Riley said looking around the table.
