Chapter 85: Ocean Journey
Two huge creatures stood on the shore of the sea and looked at the water horizon.
'Can you even swim?' Torterra asked Ruby. Normally land turtles don't swim, but she was a huge turtle with the Titan gene.
'That's the problem... My island is artificial and there's nothing to eat on it. Maybe I'll leave you in the Marshall Islands, but we still have to get there.'
It was the first time Ruby had seen so much water, so she approached the water with excitement and caution. She slowly went into the water. Cool water washed her legs and she liked the feeling. Going forward, she completely immersed herself in the water and tried not to drown. Raising her head above the water, she waved her paws and looked like an elephant.
'Ok. You're not the best swimmer, but you're good enough to swim between islands and find food.' Torterra watched Ruby swim. She struggled in the water and moved slowly. After 15 minutes, she more or less learned to swim and looked like a small island in the water.
At this speed, Ruby could freely swim across the ocean, although it was too slow for Torterra. So when he got into the water, he put Ruby on his head and the skeleton on his back and swam to the Marshall Islands.
After two days of sailing, Ruby wanted to eat, so we found an island and stopped there. The island was beautiful with mountains and jungles. There was a small town on the opposite side of the island, but we didn't go there.
Although we did not go to the city, but the inhabitants of the city came to us. They literally surrounded us and filmed us on their mobile phones. Ruby was curious to see so many two-legged creatures, so she kept looking at them while munching on the leaves of the trees.
Ruby was an ordinary herbivorous turtle, so she was not an aggressive animal. She slowly approached people to sniff them and get something tasty from them.
'Be careful. The people are good, but there may be an enemy among them,' said Torterra with a low growl. He was standing on the shore of the ocean. He put the skeleton on the shore and went deep into the island to find fresh water.
Ruby understood his words, so she moved away from the people who were offering her some fruit. They were afraid to feed a large turtle from their hands, so they put the fruit on the ground and left.
While Torterra walked around the island in search of water, Ruby hid between the trees and watched people.
I found water! Come here.' She heard Torterra growl and walked over to him. There were a couple of lakes with fresh water on the island, and after drinking the water, the level of one of these lakes dropped by half a meter.
'We'll be here until tomorrow,' said Torterra, and lay down to take a nap on the shore of the island. Ruby walked around the island all night and ate everything green that she saw. She even reached the city, which frightened many, but she did not enter the city. Ruby watched the night city from afar. People did not provoke her either. She was big enough to destroy a building by pushing it with a shell.
"Hello." Ruby heard the voice of a bipedal creature not far from her as she watched the city. She just lay in the middle of the jungle and looked at the beauty in front of her. Lanterns were burning in the city and stars were shining in the sky. The weather was good, and there were only a few clouds in the sky, which were beautifully illuminated by the moon.
"What is your name?" A small bipedal creature approached Ruby. The creature had some fruits in its hands. Ruby turned her head and looked at the creature. Although the giant had told her to be careful with the bipeds, she didn't feel any threat now, so she bent her head towards the small creature and sniffed it.
He was a 7-8 year old boy with short black hair and dark skin. The boy, although he was brave, still got scared and took a few steps back and sat on the ground, clinging to the roots. The tortoise`s head was so big that it could swallow a child whole.
The fruit was ripe and smelled good, so Ruby opened her mouth, waiting for the fruit to be placed in her mouth. She did this in the laboratory and was constantly put something tasty in her mouth.
"Don't scare me like that! I thought you were going to eat me!" Noticing that the tortoise's head stopped next to him with its mouth open, the boy breathed a sigh of relief. He stood up and carefully placed the fruit in the turtle's mouth and immediately stepped back.
"Here you are! What are you doing here! Get away from the turtle!" A woman ran out of the bushes and immediately took the child in her arms.
"I knew you would be here! It's not safe, you want us to have trouble? We are not allowed be here and I don't have the money to pay the fine. It's lucky no one noticed." The woman carried her son away from the turtle, scolding him. But the boy did not listen to what his mother said, and waved his hand goodbye to the giant turtle.
In fact, there were many such daredevils. They all hid in the forest and watched the giants from afar. Some were watching the giant tortoise, and others were watching Torterra. These people were masters of camouflage and were difficult to find in the forest, but seeing the Titans with one's own eyes was worth the trouble.
The bravest people sneaked up to the skeleton of the clone and tried to cut off a piece as a memory.
That's how the night on the island passed. All this time, Torterra slept, not paying attention to the people who "secretly" walked around him.
'Come!' Torterra said immediately after he woke up. There was a noise from the forest and the trees began to part and fall as Ruby came out of the forest. She was happy and full. A night in the jungle was a good adventure for her.
Thus continued their journey, which took another whole week. Several times they had to stop at different islands, but finally they arrived at the island of Torterra.
'Bad water!' Ruby hummed in disgust as she swam across the area around the island. This area was contaminated with Kaiju blood and blue plants. The toxins were unpleasant to Ruby's nose and eyes.
'You won't be awake here for long, but you need to remember where this place is.' Torterra didn't know if Ruby could navigate the ocean, but he didn't care much. He just came here to introduce Ruby to the island and leave the clone skeleton here.
POV: Yun
There was big news today. Torterra was returning to the island with a huge skeleton and a new giant. She stood on the edge of the island and filmed from afar as they sailed towards the island.
"Such a beautiful tortoise!" Yun was delighted with the turtle swimming alongside Torterra. She kept her head above water and made meter-long waves around, flapping her paws under the water. She slowly swam to the island and looked around.
There were many people standing on the edge of the island, and everyone was watching them. Torterra, as usual, climbed onto the island with noise and splashes of water and threw the skeleton in a remote part of the island so that it would not disturb anyone.
After him, a turtle also climbed onto the island. It was difficult for her to climb in because the island was a couple of meters higher than the water level, but eventually she was able to do it.
"Oppa! So what's its name?" Yun asked Torterra loudly.
"Ruby." He answered briefly using sign language.
"Ruby! What a beautiful name. You are a girl! How dare those scientists conduct experiments on you! I will make sure the whole world knows about it!" Yun filmed a giant tortoise looking around with wide eyes. There was nothing to eat on the island, so she didn't know where to go.
"Ruby aggressive?" Yun asked. She remembers the clone destroying the city, so it bothered her.
"I do not know. Are you aggressive?" Torterra asked Ruby. She looked at him for a long time and then shook her head saying no.
"No, she's not aggressive."
"What? Can she talk too?" Yun was shocked. Can all giant creatures speak?
"Not at all." Torterra didn't want to elaborate because he didn't know if Yun was live-streaming or just recording a video.
After learning that Ruby was not aggressive, Yun immediately walked over to her and hugged her leg. It was brave, but what can't you do when you're capturing everything on camera.
Ruby was surprised by the hug and lowered her head to sniff Yun, which made her laugh.
Torterra was approached by the head of this base. He looked tense and his forehead was wet with worry.
"I want to inform you that the World Council is asking for this turtle to be returned to them. They say that it is the property of the research center and they spent billions of dollars to create it," said the head of the base.
"How dare they ask her back! She has intelligence and can communicate with Oppa. We can't give her away for experiments," Yun was unhappy to hear the base leader.
