Chapter 1: Let's FLY!

Ravens differ from crows in appearance by their larger bill, tail shape, flight pattern and by their large size. Ravens are as big as Red-tailed Hawks, and crows are about the size of pigeons. The raven is all black, has a 3.5-4 ft wingspan and is around 24-27 inches from head to tail.

Also,

Crows and ravens are both blackbirds, but there are some key differences between them. Crows are typically smaller than ravens, and they have a more triangular-shaped head. Ravens being larger, measure 24 to 27 inches from head to tail and 3.5 to 4 inches for the wings.

Furthermore,

Both birds are extremely intelligent (though ravens seem a bit smarter than crows) and are quite playful. Ravens have at least 7 different calls and can imitate the calls of other birds (geese, jays, crows). They also use stunt flying to attract mates (barrel-rolling, flying upside-down, and somersaults).

And if you do happen to be visited by a Raven,

It indicates that you might need some kind of guidance in your life. However, these birds do not pay a visit to everyone. They're attracted to the mystical aura of a chosen few. If you've seen ravens lately, it means that they have chosen to help you.

And it seems that someone we know, is a very close friend to a very friendly Raven. Or not? All we now is that friendly/unfriendly raven is friends with crows. No, he IS a part of them.

Also, note from experience, don't piss off ravens or they'll come back with a thousand-fold of friends and sh*t on you, or your stuff like there's no tomorrow.

"All right!" An old voice rang out as the sound of screeching tires sound out. "Huh?" Hinata stopped in front of a tv showing a tournament.

It was at that moment,

His eyes widened a small bit as he saw someone people could consider short sprang up high into the air, it was like he had wings.

A wall of hands extended over the net, but his jump was higher. His right arm arced back for a swing as the ball comes near his floating frame.

Pam! The soft but loud sound of a ball hitting a hand resounded, and a brief spark of wind proved how powerful the strike was.

The ball landed on the ground as Hinata stood there, mesmerized of the scene that had unfolded in front of his eyes.

The team huddled together at the brief victory they brought, "Score. The "little giant" lives up to his name. That's five points in a row."

The commentator spoke. "Here we are at the National Volleyball High School Championship, spring season, where Kurasuno High School's little giant has been springing up between players 190 centimetres tall."

"Kurasuno, isn't that the school in our neighbourhood town? That's pretty impressive." The old spectator spoke.

Another pair of tires screeched and stopped, "Hey, Sho-chan..." A raven black male about the same age as Hinata spoke.

Another screech of a tire sounded out. "Sho-chan! Kara-chan! Hurry up, they'll take the court." A friend of theirs with very light brown (near white) hair spoke.

Approximately 3 years and 3 months later....

Hinata raced down the stairs as he hurried towards the gymnasium. "Sho-.... Ugh.... I'm too frickin' lazy for these stairs, I wish I could fly..." A ravenette spoke as he chased after his friend.

Hinata didn't even bother to hear his complaint and ran straight towards where they were going to compete, and he was overwhelmed.

What he was awe inspiring, different teams practicing, warming up, people readying the court, spikes over nets, dives below to save the ball.

"Wahhh... it's huge." Hinata mumbled as he stared blankly at the scene in front of him. "The smell of air salon pass!" he shouted as his ravenette friend that stood up at 161cm patted his shoulder.

"Sho-chan.... don't leave me on the stairs again.... I'm too lazy to climb down, you shouldn't have left me...!" Karasu shook Hinata back and forth.

"A-ah... Kara... stop shaking me...! I apologise...!" Hinata curtly spoke as he got out of the ravenette's grasp.

"Anyways..." Hinata raised his balled-up fist in excitement and spoke. "Three years, and I'm finally here. it sure has been a struggle to get here!"

"Kara, Izumi, Koji." Hinata turned back to his three friends. "Thanks for being here as helpers."

Koji and Izumi blushed while smiling wryly while Kara only smiled warmly at his friend. "Stop it." Koji spoke in embarrassment.

Izumi ruffled the back of his head and spoke. "Well, our tournament has already ended..." Hinata approached and hugged the other 3 first years. "Thank you for coming as well!"

"It's a miracle three of you are here." Hinata spoke. "Oh, yes... we're fully amateurs but..."

"Don't cry, Shoyo..." Koji reminded. "I'm not crying!" Hinata rebutted while looking back. "Woah, you're super tearful." Izumi commented.

"Hey, Sho-chan... We should get... started." Kara spoke. "Come on, captain. Get on the ball." Izumi said. "That's right, you dragged us here. We don't even know the rules. " Koji chimed in.

"Iknowtaht." Hinata spoke. "We made it all the way to the tournament, we should win it."

"What? You think we can win with the last-minute pick?" Izumi voiced out hesitation. "Of course." Hinata answered.

"What's our... opponent Kitagawa Daichi... like?" Kara squeezed out. "I don't know, but we're going to do it." Hinata answered back.

Footsteps rang out behind them as Kara pulled Hinata to his side as tall players from the opposition team passed.

As the last of the team passed, Hinata sensed a certain air around the player... one of majesty. A very lonely sense of majesty.

He looked to the back of the player as he wondered why he had such air around him.

"Woah, Kitagawa Daichi... They're huge. The "king" is among them." One of the staff for the game uttered out.

"The "king"? Who's that?" His friend asked. "You don't know? It's Kageyama Tobio. He's called the "king of the court". He's an amazing setter."

The team freaked out as Koji ghastly pointed at the opposing team. "We're going against them?! What's this "king" stuff?" he shouted at Hinata.

Hinata felt his stomach churn as he looked back at Koji. "Don't worry about that! Who cares how lanky they are? I'll shoot past them."

"That's right, captain's right." Kara smiled at his Sho-chan's words. "Calm down, only focus on how you will perform to your maximum."

Karasu's words were like a calming wave as his words relaxed the other 5. "That's right, Sho-chan's jumps are amazing!" Izumi spoke.

Hinata stood tall and proud before he shrivelled and cradled his stomach. "But first, the bathroom...."

Hinata ran out and went to relieve himself of his stomach's growling due to nervousness. "Heh. Guess you were... too tired after... all." Karasu spoke.

Even without the captain with Kara's encouraging words, the group of 6 went on with warmups and after a while, Kara went to check with Hinata.

He was met "The King" facing of the little bundle of joy he was stuck with.... "You make it sound so easy." Kageyama Tobio spoke out.

"Sure, I'm not tall." Hinata rebutted. "But... I can jump." Karasu smirked at his friends' words. "You can assume we'll lose-"

"Don't give up." the king suddenly cut as he turned around. "That's not as easy as it sounds."

"The six-, no, the seven of us. We finally got the chance to play volleyball on court. The first, the second game... We'll win and keep going. We're going to give it our all!"

The atmosphere froze as the king spoke. "The first game, the second game, the play offs, the nationals, I'm going to win them all."

Kageyama harumphed and turned around walking back to court. Karasu walked towards his friend and extended his hand towards his shoulder.

"Got rid of your stomach-ache and nervousness?" Karasu spoke. "Yes." Hinata answered while nodding his head.

"Now, let's go back to the stage and show them the effort and dedication we gave for this game." Karasu spoke out.

Hinata nodded his head and walked beside his friend. They walked back into the blinding light of excitement, stepping upon the court made for volleyball to shine.

The 2 shouted in unison. "Let's 'FLY'!"
