Chapter 88: Chapter 88: The Benefits of an Heir
The chamber of secrets was opened, it was the number one topic of conversation among Hogwarts students and it made sense, there would be no better way to advertise a message than with a large wall written in blood and a petrified cat hanging from a chandelier.
The problem was not only the advertisement but who were there at that moment, four people were the suspects of writing that message and in the same way they are the possible candidates to be heirs of Slytherin.
Hermione Granger, she was one of the first people who saw the message, she could be a candidate but being a witch born in a family of mugles was immediately discarded.
Ronald Wesley, the penultimate of the last generation Wesleys and called among some students (William) Potter's errand boy, although he has some connection with the old lineages due to his surname was discarded almost immediately, for the students it was impossible to have in their imagination Ron as the heir with his cowardly personality, it was simply impossible.
Eliminating two candidates for their characteristics only two more candidates remained, both with excuses supported by professors about their meeting in that location at the time of the events.
Harry Potter, one of the favorite candidates to be the heir of Slytherin, son of pure-blooded wizards, the boy who survived, the living legend could now also be the heir of Slytherin's belongings.
On the other hand, William Rosier also became one of the favorite candidates, although this candidate, unlike the previous one, seems to enjoy the attention given to him because of what happened. William Rosier is known for his family legacy and the great activities of all those with the Rosier surname in the last 20 years.
That was the speech the Weasley twins were presenting in the Hogwarts courtyard.
"Vote here" Fred said drawing the attention of the students.
"Here leave your vote" George was holding an open box where Hogwarts students could deposit a paper with their choice, the fact is that this voting system was organized as a popular poll.
"Let us know in your judgement who is the heir to Slytherin and the chamber of secrets" Fred called for more attention as he raised his arms.
"Harry the boy who survived or William the young hero from South America?" George picked up a piece of paper from a Ravenclaw girl's hand and dropped it in the voting box.
"One more vote" smiled the red-headed boy.
Away from the crowd Harry watched what was happening, he had complicated feelings, he really hated Filch's cat, but he didn't want something like this to happen to him, much less be framed for something he didn't do, now everyone in the castle was nervous around him.
"I'm not the heir" Harry said quietly.
"You don't have to worry about that Harry, we know you're not the heir to the chamber, we were with you when it happened" Hermione supported her friend as she usually does, even for her it was annoying the situation they were in.
"Yes Harry, you don't have to worry" Ron was eating a cake he had saved from breakfast in his pocket "George and Fred don't mean it badly, they are trying to make the situation a funny story, you'll see how everything will work out and it will be as if nothing happened"
Harry nodded, his two friends right now were the best support he had and it was enough with them to keep his self esteem afloat.
"Besides if there really was an heir to the chamber of secrets it should be Malfoy or one of the Rosiers, William could very well be the heir to the chamber of secrets"
"Ron!" exclaimed Hermione.
"What?" Ron raised his shoulders "I'm just speaking my mind."
The problem with trying to defend William was that William himself accepted being called the heir to Salazar Slytherin, he even used his status to annoy Slytherin house students by mentioning that Salazar had to find a Gryffindor because none of the students in his house were worthy, including the noble heir to Malfoy house.
In the library William had a large book in his hands, he could notice the curious glances of the students in the surroundings, but it was only enough to have eye contact for them to move away.
Every time it happened William laughed silently, he enjoyed being a candidate for heir even if it was false.
"Is it necessary for you to tease the students using the chamber of secrets as a pretext?" Cho Chan who was sitting in front of William loudly claimed.
"I have to enjoy it while I can, when the truth is revealed I won't be able to scare everyone anymore..." William was silent for a moment "Yeah, there's no way I won't keep annoying them, I'm also the little mortifage."
"Do you enjoy doing that?"
William glared at Cho Chang "Need I ask the obvious? Of course I enjoy annoying those who used to annoy me, Harry is probably sad, but I can't pass up this opportunity"
"For a hero you don't have much decorum with people."
William just raised his shoulders, he had no excuses and he knew it himself, but then in the silence of the moment an idea came to his mind and on his face he drew a smile that caught the little witch's attention.
"What do you have in mind?" she asked fearfully, it was obvious that something bad would happen, but she didn't know who was the target of William's malice.
"What do you think Lockhart's expression will be when he sees me in front of him? I'm curious about it, I'll even ask him to help me investigate the chamber of secrets, I may finally get a chance to write a real book with his adventures in it."
"But all his books have real adventures."
"That's the whole point of this mission, to find out if the words that are in the books are real."
No one else in the castle knew the truth, William as a person who knows the real story knows the truth of Lockhart and the fraud of his life, now he has a chance to have fun with his professor.
