They seemed to have lost the Death Eaters, as they floated down onto the ground. Midway during the chase while trying to find a place to hide it out, Astoria started crying. Thankfully her mother to cast a Silencing Charm before hand, or else they would have continued flying for another hour.
Immediately casting wards to cover themselves safely, John takes note of his remaining magazines. He had 5 more full magazines and a half-used one, and his Magic Core was still full since he did not even use a touch of magic in the fight earlier.
But that can't be said from the rest, everyone looked tired from using magic after magic to slow the wizards down.
"We'll Apparitate in a few minutes, need to make them think that we're gone from here first or else they'll track our location..."
Charles said as the two older men took deep breathes to calm their racing heart. This was a close job, and someone had snitched them.
Aria was breathing harshly, she had never used so much Mana before in a single night, throwing out all the magic spells that she had learnt over the years. Taking a bottle handed by John, she greedily gulped the contents while checking on her magic reserves.
Jacob and Celine watched over their children with a hint of fear as everyone casted Homenum Revelios to make sure that no one other than them were safe in the radius of 15 meters.
After a few minutes of silence, Edwin decided that it was time to Apparitate. They would go by teams of 3. Edwin, John, and Daphne. Charles, Celine, and Astoria. And lastly Jacob and Aria.
Charles' team went first, disappearing with a POP! They couldn't risk Daphne splinching on them since 3 people were the maximum per Side-Apparitation. Then, it was Jacob and Aria that Apparitated.
Things were going smoothly, he thought as he told Daphne to hold his hand for Apparitation. He felt his body go into a tube and was about to fly into the sky through the magical invisible tube when it suddenly dissolved, with them still in the woods.
Edwin's eyes widened as the Apparitation stopped working midway.
"Anti wards!"
"Crucio!"
His mind registered the words briefly before the pain bursted through his whole body, the whole world turns white as he screamed in pain.

The sound of John screaming in pain caused Edwin to move, erecting a Protego to block a hex aiming at him. Pulling a shocked Daphne to himself, he gets continuously bombarded with spells that left a strain in his magic reserves.
Looking at John convulsing in pain caused him to burn in anger before his Occlumency calmed his mind. This was no time for him to be consumed by anger. He had to take care of his ward, that was his mission.
The Death Eaters slowly emerged from the forest with a wand pointed at John who had no protection at all.
"Crucio!"
John started screaming once more, shaking the young lady in her core as the Death Eater laughed at his pain.
Altering his Shield Charm to allow spells to be shot out from it, he casted a Homenum Revelio to reveal the Death Eaters that were near him. 6 of them, that meant that there were more coming.
Anti-Apparation and Anti-Portkey wards were being erected as he was speaking, meaning he had to use his broom to escape, but he doubt that it would work twice. He had to somehow fight them and escape, with a child and a downed comrade under the Cruciatus.
This was going to be hard.
"That's for using a Mudblood's weapon against its superiors, Blood Traitor!"
"He has killed Avery. The Dark Lord will be angered, one more Sacred House gone because of him! Crucio! Crucio! Crucio!"
"Arghhhhhhhh!!!"
John's body shook from the pain as he curled into a ball, writhing in pain as he tried to ease the pain in a foetus position as more Death Eaters arrived and started blasting more spells ranging from jinxes to hexes at Edwin's Protego.
Grunting at the barrage, he tried to counter attack, shooting out low cost spells to try and stop them for using more Torturing Curses on John. A full grown wizard's mentality shatters after 4 Cruciatuses, and John had already taken 5… He feared for the worse.
Deciding that his ward was more important, with a heavy heart, he cursed profanities before focusing on himself and the young lady in the shield, pushing more Mana into the shield as he countered the blows to his shield with as much power as he could spare.
Charles should notice that they've been ambushed, so he must hold on for now until reinforcements come. They were looking down on him, only casting hexes and jinxes instead of curses which cannot be blocked, so that means their guards were significantly down. He just had to hold on.

It felt like boiling hot knives stabbing into every cell of his body. Each one moving in circles after stabbing him, prolonging the pain as if taunting him to try anything. After what felt like a spell finally subdued, but that's doesnt mean that the pain disappeared.
Breathing slowly, he opened one eye slowly to see Death Eaters shooting out spell after spell at a blue shield. Edwin and Daphne, his mind provide as the shield started to form holes from the limited Mana it had.
A Protego was like a automatic water sprinkler for a garden, Mana as the water. It sprays a perfect shere all over the plants, but if the water is not constant, the sphere will deform and leave holes. That was the logic of a Protego spell.
Watching the holes form on the shield charm made his suspicious true, Edwin was going to hit Magic Deficit. His body was still convulsing from the Cruciatus (It still hurt like a bitch too), but he concentrated and willed his body to get up.
The Death Eaters were more interested in Edwin and Daphne, so they didn't notice that he was on his feet once more, his legs wobbly and his vision seeing white stars, but Occlumency kept him from outright fainting.
His Magic Core was still somewhat full, so it was time to let loose. Pushing all his intent into the spell, he pointed a finger gun at the nearest Death Eater to them before firing the high-powered Diffindo.
BANG!
The spell soared past the group of Death Eaters before landing on the target's neck, decapitating him instantly upon impact. While they were shocked, John immediately ran and ducked behind a tree in the forest, his hands struggling to grab his gun due to it shaking so much, a side effect of the Cruciatus.
"Dolohov! You little cunt!"
Sickly green beams started flying into the forest, most missing him and some almost hitting him through his tree. Using Silencio and Inlunsio, he ran and dodged spells as he fired his Glock, hitting some of them out of surprise of an invisible foe (Unfortunately not killing anyone since his aim was bad due to Cruciatus) before they used the Human-Presense-Revealing Charms to track him.
But by doing so, he drew their attention as he saw Edwin and Daphne sitting on their broom.
"They're getting away!"
One of the Death Eaters yelled as some started firing at them. Now with his position revealed by the charm, he cancelled the Disillusionment Charm before starting firing both bullets and Combat spells at them all.
The whole battleground was filed with colourful beams flying at both sides, when suddenly more spells were shot at the Death Eaters from the sky. Looking up briefly, John breathed in relief as he saw 5 wizards (Official Hit-Wizards from their robes) firing at them along with Jacob and Charles. Help had arrived.
Edwin took this opening to quickly shoot out of the battlefield along side Daphne who clutched onto his body like a lifeline, but it did not work as the leading Death Eater that cursed him pointed his wand at the retreating broom.
"Bombarda!"
Usually Edwin would have blocked the somewhat slow spell, but with Magic Deficit kicking in, he could only bring up a semi-broken Protego before an explosion erupted.
BOOM!
"Nooo!"
Jacobs yelled before roaring in anger, firing spells with more power as the Death Eaters cackled, holding them all in place. Except for him. They had forgotten about him for a second, that was all he needed.
John dropped his gun and immediately strengthened his body to the maximum upon seeing the man casting the Explosion Hex, dashing through the battlefield and ducking from stray spells. He could see the unconscious body of Edwin from Magic Deficit and Daphne who was screaming in fear falling from the sky, descending fast.
He does not know the spell to stop their momentum, but he has Mana Tendrils. He just had to get into range. Just a little further! Had to get in range of Mana Tendrils!
Pushing his body to the upmost limit, he ran. He ran as fast as he could. The fastest that he had ever ran.
20 meters until he could grab them. 30 meters until they hit the ground.
15 meters until he could grab them. 20 meters until they hit the ground.
10 meters until he could grab them. 10 meters until they hit the ground.
5 meters until he could grab them. 4 meters until they hit the ground.
1 meter until he could grab them. 1 meter until they hit the ground.
With a roar, he extended the flow of his magic outwards like Spider-Man's webshooters, the tendrils of mana grabbed and gripping onto the two bodies. Pulling upwards, they stopped just before they touched the ground before floating, finally safe. Crashing down to the ground from the fast speed, he tumbles a few feet after crashing before groaning in pain.
"J-John!"
Heavily panting, he looked over at Daphne who started crying. The Death Eaters, due to losing almost half of their forces, deactivated their wards before retreating, portkeying away.
He had kept them safe. She was safe. She was safe now.
Leaning on the ground (And feeling his body continuously shake and twitch) with a mirthful chuckle, he just breaths deeply as his mind just wanders away, falling unconscious.
