Chapter 2: Gold Finger
Unlocking the door, Ye Feng used his free hand to open the door. Closing it quickly, he could hear his mother watching tv drama in the living room. "Welcome home. Your snacks are on the table." Mama Ye greeted him without even looking at her son.
"En." he replied, locking the door and entering the bathroom to wash the blood from his hand. In the bathroom, he stood by the sink and turned on the tap as water rushed out from the hose. Putting his hand inside the water, he prevented himself from crying out in pain as he did before.
Usually, a wound such as this wouldn't even make him flinch. For some reason, it hurt very badly, almost as much as the time his chest was hurting and sent him into this new world. Once the blood was gone and stopped leaking from the wound, Ye Feng looked at his palm and noticed something different.
On his silky smooth hand that was extraordinarily smooth and pale, he could see a strange golden circle in the center of his palm. The wound on his hand had disappeared completely, while this golden circle replaced it instead.
"The heck? First I was sent to a parallel universe, and now this? Could it be that my Main Character Aura activated and gave me a Gold Finger? It's the only possible explanation." Ye Feng thought.
After a while, he decided that it was as he thought and put his back into his room and stripped so he could take a shower. After taking his shower, he dried his hair and changed into casual clothing before heading downstairs for some snacks.
On the kitchen table, he found many kinds of bread. That's right, bread, and lots of them. From plain white toast to garlic toast, and cinnamon rolls. All kinds of non-sweet pastries such as cupcakes could be found on the table. All of it was for him to enjoy for today before he had dinner at 7 pm sharp.
The amount of bread on the table was more than enough for five people's dinner. But this was only a snack for Ye Feng who ate it like he was a vacuum cleaner. When he was younger, his parents wondered if he had a black hole in his stomach. The only response he had to his parents was, "A mans gotta eat to grow." making them speechless as he ate.
Not only that, he had a weird addiction to bread. The only snack he ever ate was bread. Though he did eat other snacks such as chips and other junk, he still found the bread to be the best.
Sweeping up all the bread from the table, Ye Feng headed to his room to consume it all. It didn't take him long, as he finished it all in the timeframe that it took him to read the daily chapters of his favorite web novels. Even though technology in this world was much more advanced, web novels and the likes still existed and were even more popular than in the past.
Soon, he dropped to the ground and started working out. Every day, he did exactly one thousand pushups, situps, and squats, as well as running on the treadmill. He even did deadlifts and benching, as well as curling. His room was basically a gym in itself. Even after all that, his build was average in size, but his muscles were incredibly beautiful to look at.
Soon, a few hours had passed and it was already time for dinner. Wiping his sweat, he went for dinner downstairs where papa Ye and mama Ye were already waiting for him. As an only child, his parents were relaxed after he reached 10 years old. He was quite independent and more mature than other kids his age, so his parents didn't worry much about him.
Instead, they were concerned about whether he would have friends because of how mature he was compared to others his age. Only until he had a best friend, did his parents feel relieved on that front.
"Feng Feng, tomorrow is the day. Even though we think you will pass, even if you don't pass, you should only risk it if you really want to become a Monster Tamer. We will support you no matter what, the decision is up to you." Mama Ye told him.
"Your mother's right, Monster Cultivators and Breeders are also well sought for. With your brains and grades, it shouldn't be too hard to become one with a little effort. Don't think that you have wasted our money if you fail, you are our son, no matter what it will be worth it in our eyes." Papa Ye added.
"En." nodding his head, Ye Feng silently ate his dinner as he calmed himself and prepared for his results the next day. After dinner, he headed up to his room without disturbing his parents from doing the dishes together and lied down on his bed.
Silently staring at the ceiling, while avoiding the lightbulb from burning him, he contemplated on some things for a while. Suddenly, his right hand felt extremely itchy in the center of his palm where the golden circle was.
Looking at his palm, the golden circle shined brightly almost burning out his eyes from looking at it. "D*mnit, I avoided looking directly at the lightbulb but this thing blinded me anyways!" he shouted internally.
Moving his hand away, he suddenly saw an interface that was similar to a video game interface in front of him. Seeing this, it confirmed that he had received a Gold Finger just like the main character of novels did when they transmigrated. Moving his hand, it passed right through the interface.
The game-like interface showed a picture of a human body on the inside, without the organs, bones, etc. Instead, there were vein-like lines that looked like some sort of map. Looking around, he realized that each line was connected to at least one meridian within the human body.
Beside the map, there was a 'Status Board' that contained information about Ye Feng himself.

Looking at this, he found the information to be extremely useful to him. His Spirit Power was exactly 1.0 which was a relief, while the Map Point he had was most likely points he earned to be able to spend. He didn't know how many points he would earn at a time, or even how to earn them. This was what he wanted to know the most.
Even so, he didn't think about it too much, as he willed the interface to disappear, and so it did as he wanted it to. Thinking about it again, the interface reappeared in front of him before disappearing again. "Well, I don't think I'll need to worry about other people seeing it, after all, it's a Gold Finger. Regular people wouldn't be able to take notice of it, let alone be able to see it." Ye Feng thought.
Looking at the time, it was still early. Since he knew he would pass the evaluation tomorrow, he opened up his laptop and started doing some research. What did he research, despite knowing many things already?
Why starter Monsters of course. Ye Feng knew that those who passed the evaluation would be able to purchase Monster Eggs, or Monsters at their Infant stage, making them weak and able to be trained. Not only that, it was much easier to contract a Monster while in their infancy while they are still weak.
Obviously, it wasn't impossible to contract with an Adult stage Monster, but this was extremely difficult since many of them had grown up on their own in the wild and wouldn't be willing to contract with a puny human. As such, government-approved organizations were able to sell Monster Eggs and infants to the general public.
Doing some research, he found three places in Jing City that sold such Monsters. After finding the three places, he looked them up and searched the list of Monsters they could be purchased from. After a bit of research, the three organizations sold similar Monsters at similar prices. Monsters such as the Turble, which was a Water-type turtle that specialized in defense, or Earth-type Monsters such as the Ground Hedgehog or Rock Monkey and Wood Monsters such as the Leaf Gecko or Bamboo Cat were amongst the Monsters that were being sold the most.
He couldn't find any Fire or rarer Monsters, which may not be sold in Jing City or were kept hidden from the public in the list, but this was something he expected. In the first place, he didn't think about such Monsters. Not only were they rare, but the price of raising them was also much more than the price of the more common Monsters.
Instead, he looked at the list of Monsters and considered their price range, as well as abilities and what he wanted when he could integrate with his Monsters. Choosing a starter Monster was one of the most important steps in being a Tamer, he had to choose carefully without making a rash decision. Even though he could tame more Monsters in the future, he didn't think too much about it now and instead spent hours thinking about his very first choice.
By morning, he had made his decision and headed to school after waking up and having breakfast. Stepping outside the door, Ye Feng instantly noticed a familiar figure. A tall handsome young man the same as himself, but had a slightly larger build. This was due to fighting in the past. Before they became best friends, the young man had been a thug who often got into fights with others. Only when they became friends, did his best friend stop fighting and wash his hands anew.
This handsome young man was slightly taller than Ye Feng, being six-feet one. His hairstyle was also quite different to Ye Feng's but nevertheless, they were handsome men. Ye Feng's best friend was called Gu Dong. There was nothing special about his name, just like Ye Feng's name which meant wind or phoenix, which was also a very common name.
'Big brother, I'm quite nervous, I hope I pass." Gu Dong said, as they both stood side-by-side and walked to school together. "You'll pass, believe in yourself." Ye Feng told him.
Saying this, Ye Feng really meant it. When he had taken a look at Gu Dong earlier, he saw his status.

Seeing Gu Dong's status, he was sure that he would pass unless the minimum increased. He wasn't surprised either that he could see the former's status, after all, he had seen his parent's status as well. The only thing different was that he couldn't see his own potential and that only he had Map Points to spend.
After a single night's sleep, Ye Feng noticed that his Map Point had turned into Map Points, increasing to two points from one point initially. It seemed like he would gain a single point after a single night. Of course, he didn't know how this would change in the future or if it would increase if the night passed by.
Walking together with Gu Dong, Ye Feng spent a total of twenty minutes before they finally arrived at the school gate. There, many children whether they were part of Seventh High or not were already blocking the path, creating a long line that went over two streets.
"Hmm, there are more people than I thought. Sure there is a discount if one took the evaluation at a government school, but for this many people to come is weird." Gu Dong said. Ye Feng nodded. The discount was from 2000 Yuan down to only 500 or so. For many aspiring Tamers, such a discount didn't budge their pockets at all.
There was obviously another reason for there to be such a big crowd gathered in front of their school today. Joining the queue, it seemed like it would take a few hours before it was their turn. Even though multiple people could take the test at once in different rooms, the result was so.
