Chapter 3: A Quick Visit
Charlotte sit by the window and sigh as she watch the clouds.
"My friend, its been the 4th sigh in the last hour"
"It's been a while since coming here.Although I send letters to my parents, they always reply that everything's fine.I quite miss them"
"Now that you mention it...Yeah, I miss them too."
"It'd be nice to go home for a while"
"The Palace is so strict though.There's no way us maids can go in and out that easily"
"We'll figure out a way.It would be nice to visit just once."
With that thought, Charlotte begin asking for ways to visit home.Soon after, she learns that, some maids have gone home through Bureau of Internal Affirmatives.Charlotte come to the Bureau asking about a visit, but the person there gave her a cold welcome.
"Want to go home after coming here?We don't allow that here!"
"I heard a lot of people have gone back home.Some even work in here!"
"Lies!There's never been such a thing!"
The Nuchh shoos Charlotte away.She turn around feeling helpless.
"What if there's another way?Maybe I can do it with a money?It might be a bit bothersome, but if it's got to be done"
Charlotte turns back and just so happen to overhear the Nuchh talking about her.
"Hmph.I grew up with Laverna and its all thanks to that girl that she is being punished at the Council Affairs.Im going to take vengeance for her."
So the Nuchh has intentionally sabotaging Charlotte.She got mad and rush inside.
"So you are taking, advantages of your position for personal reasons!"
The Nuchh looks nervous as he see Charlotte, but calms down quickly.
"What are you talking about? There's has never been any rule that permits leaving the Palace like this! Go ahead, tell on me."
Charlotte figure out that since the Nuchh isn't at all phased, it's probably true that not everyone can leave However, it also means that people can leave under certain considerations. Charlotte decided to put a sweet look at the Nuchh.
"Mister, I know we've had our differences before, but I'm sure we can work things out"
"What?Are you trying to bribe me?Not a chance!"
Charlotte wilt down like a plant during drought after being rejected.
"It would be hard to leave with the Bureau of Internal Affirmation against me.What now?"
Charlotte watch the baby sleeping in his crib, and smile.Then, she remember her friend, Dorothy.Charlotte went to Madam Suzeth where Dorothy serves her mistress.She knocked to the door and bow to each other as a sign of respect.
"Oh...Charlotte!Come in, come in.What do you want, my dear?"
"Can I asked Dorothy to talk with me for a while?"Charlotte asked.
"She's right to that room.Just finished her duties in here.Take a seat then, I'll make some tea for pleasing"
"Thank you, Madam!"
Charlotte take a seat and drinks tea as Madam Suzeth and Charlotte have a conversation.While they taking time to talk, Dorothy appeared to the two ladies and asked Charlotte,
"Hello Charlotte.Do you call me?"
"Yes,Dorothy.I have something to tell you"
While the two talking, Madam Susan enter their conversation
"I may leave both of you here.So you can talk peacefully without my disturbance."cried Madam
Charlotte and Dorothy have started their conversation after Madam Susan left the room.
"Dorothy can you take care of the baby when I'm gone for a while?"
"Sure...but I have a question...When do you plan to go to your family?Do you find any way to leave the Palace?"
"Yes, I will ahead to the Gambling Station to find Zhengyin to give me a way than the Bureau to leave the Palace for a while.I left some coins for you to buy foods and some things for him."
"I make sure that the baby is healthy and happy at my side!"
"Thank you, Dorothy!"
After that, Dorothy went to Charlotte's residence and take the baby to her side while Charlotte get to the Station and see Zhengyin just about to rush out.
"Hm?You need something?"
Charlotte tell Zhengyin that she want to leave the Palace and ask him of there's a way.
"I'm a bit busy lately.It won't be easy, but I'll ask someone to get it sorted.Dont worry."
After two days of waiting, a shy guard comes to Charlotte's place.
"Miss,This is Master Zhengyin's Travel Permit.With it you can leave any time you want."
"Thank you very much.I just wanted to visit my parents but now I got this permit"
"He knows you miss your family.Now it will be much easier to visit them.Take good care of the permit...There's one catch, Rules are rules after all, so remember to back quickly if you decide to leave."
"I understand.Thanks for reminding me."
"Miss, you're very lucky with Master Zhengyin."
"Yeah...Hes a kind and respectful person"
"I've heard some rumors that Master Alexandria before was frostated child just like the child he saves lately.Until a man came to him and managed to adopt him and trained to defeat the bad guys that murdered his mother. But that rumors are never been confirmed!"
"Really...I didn't know that!"
"By the way, Miss.Don't tell anyone about it.Ti be honest, I'd really like Master Zhengyin as my inspiration."
"Hmph, maybe one day you'll become him.Just don't, forget to do good at this world."
"Thank you Miss.I have to go.Just don't tell anybody, okay?"
"Don't
Charlotte are ready to leave.The guards put their spears out the moment she reach the gate, startling her.
"Who's there!What are you doing?"said the guard harshly.
Charlotte take out the Travel Permit in a hurry.The guard looks at it and checks for authenticity, then he gets less stem.
"Come back fast, Miss!"
After successfully getting out of the palace, Carlotte feel relieved nd cherred up.Someons calls to her as she walk.
"That girl there, yes, you!"said a mysterious man.
"What do you need mister?"replied Charlotte.
"You have a very unique destiny.Your age and your looks match up.Lets me read you fortune...You can give me however much you want...You have good fortune today.You'll meet someone who will aid you.You'll meet your aid!"
The Fortune Teller goes away after leaving those words.He won't turn back no matter how much she call out to him.
"Hm? Did I get scammed?"
She pace at snail speed in her grief getting scammed.Suddenly she feel like she'd stepped on something.She bend down and see a fancy wallet with money inside.
"Fortune teller was a con man.I haven't seen a great helper yet, but there is money...Still, good fortune!"
Although that's what she thinks there's actually quite a bit of coins in the wallet.She wants to return it to the owner, and just then a man comes up to her.
"Miss, I just lost my wallet.Have you seen it?"said a stranger.
"I did see a wallet.But you have to tell me how it looks like"
"That's the one in your hand.How many people would lose their wallet in the wilderness like this?"
"Why don't you get changed first before you start scamming.There's no way someone with such a fancy wallet whould dress like you.You should leave now.You're not the owner of this wallet!"
The man gets violence as his cover gets blown.He tries to grab the wallet, but as Charlotte are prepared, she dodge him and run.
"Sir! Please forgive me! I saw the girl picking of the wallet from a distance and come up with this bad idea.I won't do it again"
The man doesn't come after her, and instead pleads for forgiveness.She stop, all confused, and turned to look.She see that he's been subdued.As for the hero, he's tall, handsome and slightly impatient looking.
"Scram!"
The man runs for his life, and the hero looks to Charlotte distantly.
"Is this your wallet, Sir?"passes the wallet to him.
"You'd throw your life away for a wallet, Dummy!"
"We seem to get along well.You can keep the wallet.You can look meaner in the future"
The man leaves Charlotte stunned as he finishes.
Dorothy walks excitedly as she grabs Charlotte.Charlotte can see she's happy because it's difficult to leave the palace Charlotte turn around and see the Fortune Teller donating to the poor.She grabs Dorothy back and run to him.
"Sir, Sir, wait up"said Charlotte are out of breath from running.
"It's you miss.Looks like we are quite connected."
"Sir, I really did meet someone could interesting.You were truly incredible.Please I would like more instructions"
"Look there is difficulty everywhere.Be benevolent, and fortune will pursue."said pointing to the poor people as he talks.
"Thank you, sir.Ill do my best and donate some money to the poor!"
