Chapter 6: [Chapter 6]: A Moment To Understand
Not so long after the bell chimed, everyone gathered around the quadrangle in order to find out the results for the student council votings. As everyone fixed themselves, I saw Arthur smiling and somehow confident. He saw me and walked towards me. "You know what? After all, this isn't bad. Whatever the results may be, I'm fine as long as the student council will do their job properly." he still have this beautiful aura around him that probably makes him immune to all negative things.
"Now for our final results..." as the school facilitator announced, we looked down and blinked with hope. "The second party list, with the average vote of 863 and the first party list got 549! Congratulations to our new president, Arthur Collins!" We were all shocked by the results but we knew we weren't dreaming. Arthur looked up, almost cried from happiness and he went forward and shook hands with the president of the opposing party list. The microphone was given to him, "This was a very important opportunity I have taken. I promise to every student that I, Arthur Collins will fulfill every duty a President could do. I promise to take care of each of the students and to look out at every problem our school may have. I would like to thank God that he entrusted me with this special position and to my members that actually supported me to go through all of this." Arthur speeched as his tears went down little by little.
I saw James happy and clapping as he whistle. He was happy for his friend. Sean, on the other side was talking to someone. I don't actually know who that person is, but all I could remember is that he looks like Sean's partner from our last physical class.
Just on perfect timing, classes ended after the event so Arthur, being too happy, decided to throw a party. It was quite late, I told him I won't be able to go with him. "C'mon, you're a part of us." he said and his voice was somehow 'sad'. "I'm really sorry but I've been coming home late these past few days and my parents won't allow that." I said. "Alright go home. We'll just eat without you." I've felt the sudden coldness in his words. "Arthur..." I tried calming him, "Just go." he said and I left. Damn how could things go wrong?!
As I came home, I went straight to my bed and changed clothes. I lie down on my bed and covered my face with a pillow. "Shit! You are such an idiot Mint!" I shouted as I cover my mouth with a pillow. Later on, I scrolled through my phone and I have thought of texting Arthur, "How's the party?" but I didn't get any reply. Later on, I saw James texted me. "Are you free tomorrow after class? Let's meet behind the school. I'll show you something." he said. "Alright." I replied as I shut my phone down and took my sleep.
—Next Day—
I took my morning routine and went straight to school as dad delivers me. I went inside my classroom and sat beside Sean. I saw everyone quite cheerful due to yesterday. "I believe you forgot this." Arthur said, giving me the nametag as secretary. "Oh crap I totally forgot." I said while laughing from embarassment. He doesn't seem to be in an 'off-mood' today. "Sorry about last night, I got carried away by my emotions." he said. "I— it's nothing." I said and I wore the label on my arms. Just on time the professor went in and he started the discussion. I was wondering what does James wanna show to me. I looked at him and I saw him looking at me, just as he saw me, his eyes widened and he looked at the window. I blushed though, I was shocked so I looked in front. I didn't try looking back again, I don't want that awkward moment to happen again.
As classes end, I went straight down the lockers and fixed my stuffs. After closing it, I saw James and he gripped my wrists. He dragged me outside and continued walking until we reached a latter part of the school. I saw an abandoned building in a globe shape, more like a planetarium. Later on, I realized it really is a planetarium. I was so excited I smiled so much and blushed I forgot that I was wondering why did James drag me here.
"Sorry for this all of a sudden thing." he said.
"Will you tell me why?"
"Let's go inside first."
Just as we enter, I saw a small table with foods and a lamp on the middle. He is still holding my hands and he dragged me towards the table. He gave me a sign to sit down and I did. I looked above and was amazed by how the hologram stars were arranged. They were arrange by constellations. The highlighted part is the Orion as the common constellation. James sat down and he looked above too. "They are amazing aren't they?" he said. "Y— yeah, they never failed to amaze me." I said. "You know, I've met someone before who likes gazing upon the stars. He even told me that wanted to be an astronomer because he really love heavenly bodies." he said. I smiled as I hear this brief history from him. Somehow, my head ached but I am able to keep up. "I knew you like stargazing and discovering constellations so I brought you here." he said. I am somehow worried though. This is an abandoned building, what if someone caught us? "If you are worried, chill out. After all, I'm the son of the school director." and this shocked me. "Y— you are the son of the school director?!" I said in surprise. He laughed as he look at me, "You don't know? You little astronomer." he said. I blushed for a moment and went back to our topic. "You've mentioned before that I like stargazing, how did you know?" I asked him. He looked at me as his eyes widened. "Shit." he whispered and I've heard it.
This very occasional momentum caught me off-guard as I heard him whispering shit. I looked at him, specifically, I glared at him. "I— I just tried guessing and somehow I was correct..." I am still glaring at him. "Or am I?" he asked. I laughed as he thought he looked foolish. "You're right. Ever since I was a kod, I've always liked collecting telescopes and use them to gaze at the night sky every night. Others were too distracted by how I do it because I always lie down with the telescope and start gazing. They always keep on saying 'it was cute'and that I'll have a bright future ahead of me. I, although didn't mind them, were just being happy-go-lucky, relying on every possible outcomes that may happen." I explained. He look at me and his eyes somehow were widened. "Well that was unexpected mister happy-go-lucky." he looled at me as he laugh nd teased. "Shut up!" I said too while laughing. We both were happy in this occasional moment, who knew, after all, the bully will be this kind and soft hearted.
As this very special moment happen, I knew, I like James, but not as the same feelings I have for Arthur. I always feel James were someone who tries and protects me. "T— thank you so much for everything, James." I told him while he's looking above. He nodded and smiled, "I'll consider that you owe me." he said as I blush.
