Chapter 27: sudden disappearence #1

[Author POV]

The whole classroom was blooming with the known faces of the classmates, Ayanokouji knew, except the seat in front of Horikita which was empty.

'Not that she is the type to dismiss classes, or is there any other reason?' He thought, his eyes drowning at the abandoned seat.

"Is there any reason to why Wistaria has been absent?" The voice beside him called him.

"Honestly, I dont know."

The classes started but there was no sign of the student Erza Wistaria to attend the classes anytime soon.

The students inside, started to murmur amongst themselves, not knowing the circumstances behind the absence.

"It might be good of a reason to highlight, that Erza Wistaria will be taking an interval of gap from her studies." Chabashira spoke with diligence.

The so-called class leader, Hirata spoke, "But what is the reason, teacher?"

"I am afraid I cannot reveal the private matters of a student." She declined to answer his question as she continued to glance at the owner of the subtle gaze, from back of the classroom.

"It wont affect our class performance, right?" Kushida spoke with worried tone evitable in her voice.

"...No it wont, the circumstances has been approved by the school itself, so this has only been an exception for this time."

'Directly by the school, huh?' He thought as his gaze intensified at the teaching figure, 'Maybe it has to do something with her organisation.'

After the class ended, Ayanokouji took a break from sitting on his seat, isolated and proceeded to move towards the staff room.

"I have a question, teacher." He asked.

The female turned her gaze towards him and asked, "It is not surprising for you to come, instead it's inevitable."

"Your intuition got better, I guess." Ayanokouji continued, "Then I hope, you know we cannot converse here?"

She hummed in response and asked him to follow her, in return.

"So what is it?"

"Where is Erza Wistaria?"

She chuckled as if amusement got to her, "Direct interrogation? Shouldn't you show atleast a bit of reluctance if you are asking for a favour?"

"I would have if this were to be a favour." He sternly said.

"I thought you don't like to associate yourself with troubles?" She folded her arms.

"My mindset didn't change. Please answer the question, where is Erza?"

"You do know, information in this world isn't free, right?" She looked at the standing figure.

"What do you ask for?" He replied with no intention to back down.

"Your cooperation to ascend to Class-A."

'And here I thought about what she would ask for.' He thought as he continued to speak, "Was this your intention from the start?"

"There is no wonder you and Erza both are in light of my attention." She said, "But for now, you will do."

He stood there, deep in thought, trying to analyse what she was actually trying to infer.

"That's not true at all." He started, "You wanted Erza mostly in your plan. Judging by the factors in the classroom, a neutralized personality like her, would be of tremendous help, her standing is balanced in the grade. But for that to happen, you wanted to know if she really had what it takes in order to be included into the plan."

"...I am intrigued, enlighten me, Ayanokouji." She said sternly.

"...You made sure she would notice the papers back when you called for her, you wanted to know how exactly is she meddling with me, and if we both would take notice of the trap you set and postpone Sudou's expulsion."

"...Should I be wary of how peculiar your thinking is, or should I be glad that I approached the right person?" She curved the side of her lips a bit forcefully.

"Not the latter, but what I say won't stop you from including us both." He continued,  "Moreover, after you realised Horikita too had her suspicions on us, you used her as a bait to make us join the plan of yours."

"That was incredibly sharp. Was that fully your own deduction?" She asked in curiosity.

"No, she did the most work." He answered. 'But you couldn't include her for two reasons: First, her sudden disappearance and Second, any kind of opening which you can make sure to pressure her. But then…what's the reason for you to include me?'

"About your question from earlier, I don't know how much she had let you in the information, but…" She sighed, "She is within the campus, for sure, I don't know who she actually is, but- people around her is quite 'close' with the government."

"...Understood. I need a bit of help " His gaze from the distance returned towards her.

Two days before the class uproar.

[ You are requested to visit the given address. ]

The 'communicator', which was grasped in Erza's hand, showed.

"They must have been quite in a hurry to the point they are asking for me now." She mumbled as she sat on the brim of the bed.

'Now what should I do with Ayanokouji? ' She thought. 'If I ghost without warning chances are that everyone will leave it as it is, though the uproar in class is inevitable. But for Ayanokouji who has got a clear view of my objective, will he stand still? Or will he intentionally leave his safe zone?'

She contemplated whether she should give a signal to him.

'It's better not to leave any traces behind, as usual.'

Ding!

Her eyes landed on the 'communicator' and saw another message blinking.

[Absence from the school has been determined. You are requested to join back to the temporary sector from today.]

Her eyes were left gaped as she couldn't apprehend the words displayed.

"Impossible!"

She put on a cap and hood and went out to her destination.

'Why did the leader suddenly tell me to back up? Is it possible he knows what I am upto? Well that would be impossible, 'She halted her steps, 'Unless…there is a 'situation' going on?'

Erza abruptly looked back and scanned her surroundings. She continued to walk after looking around.

'Am I being paranoid? No, I have felt eyes on me. But-' She bit her lips, 'I have been careless, shit. Anyways…'

She went near the skyscraper sized building and went inside.

"Your id, ma'am?" The security guard asked.

She showed a card which said: Government personnel, 23 years old.

'Fakes are a go through medium, though there is 0-1% chance of me getting caught anyway.'

After checking, the guard let her in.

She went ahead and was met by the same junior.

"It's you again." She spoke sternly.

"Well, yes ma'am I will be accompanying you to the temporary office." He continued,  "B-Boss would like to meet you."

"I was wondering but have there been any changes to the main sector?"

"Pardon?" He jolted at the question, "Ah, Yes- the boss has been changed."

"Changed?" Erza inquired, "Shall we walk and talk?"

He agreed and said, "Well yes. During the months of your absence, the previous leader has been…" He gulped as he lowered his voice,  "You see, he was murdered."

She gasped at the statement and looked at him with disbelief.

"Are you sane, about what you are saying?" Her voice showed authority.

He gulped and answered, "Yes. The main sector has been engulfed with heaviness ever since he overthrew the previous boss."

She exhaled deeply as a frown appeared in her forehead, "So this new leader asked for me?"

"Indeed." He gulped the tension as he said, "Actually, you have been tailed too."

"Ah." She gave a nonchalant response, "I know. They will be coming here after they make sure I go inside, right?"

She pressed the button to the underground and the elevator doors closed.

The boy looked at her in awe, "You really are more capable than most of us, ma'am."

She didn't reply and soon the elevator stopped at it's destination.

"Thanks for accompanying me. You can go." She finalised.

"Good luck, see you later, ma'am."

Her shoes clicked on the ground as the sound reverberated.

A lone automated door stood, which soon opened to reveal a pile of darkness surrounding the room.

"Welcome, Erza…" The deep voice of a predator greeted.
