Chapter 23: Same man from the forest!
"You! Come with me."
Just as Chao Xing heard that she turned around and acted as politely as she could.
"Her highness wants to see you."
Politely nodding, Chao Xing started following Fei Hong who took her directly to the princess's chamber.
Entering inside her chamber Chao Xing had her head down all the time. Nor for once she dared to look up at her.
Coming forward near her Chao Xing put her knees on the ground with her hands in front of her face, shoulders straight as she bowed, "Your highness!"
"Get up!" Xiao Chen was sitting in the front on the wooden chairs with some of her maids standing beside her.
As soon as Chao Xing heard that she pushed herself off of the ground, peeping up a little in front of her, "Thank you, Your highness!"
"What's your name?"
"Chao Xing!"
"I heard that you beat a girl. Is that true?"
"Yes!" Chao Xing's short reply came at which she narrowed her eyes.
Why did she agree that easily? Xiao Chen wasn't expecting that.
"Why?"
"It was a counter attack, your highness. The girl attacked us first."
Chao Xing didn't put her head up even once and replied to her with short answers yet convincing.
"And? Why do you think I will believe you?" Raising her eye brows she gazed at Chao Xing from top to bottom.
"Because this is the truth." Looking up a little at Xiao Chen she replied.
"I will be the one deciding that." Xiao Chen said.
"I…." Chao Xing was just about to say something when she heard a voice from the back.
"His highness is here!"
Hurriedly all the girls present in the room bowed down on the floor while Xiao Chen stood up with a smile plastered on her face.
Just then Wen Ting Hua came inside the room and directly went towards his aunt.
"His highness gave you the grant to rise!" The eunuch from the back said out loud and all the girls stood up with their heads still bowed down.
"How are you my child?" Xiao Chen had asked as she lovingly looked at Wen Ting Hua.
"I am good, aunt. How are you?"
Xiao Chen nodded her head with a polite smile.
"I hope everything went well while I was gone!"
He let his eyes wander around the room and just then his eyes fell on Chao Xing.
"Red hair?" He couldn't help but notice those red hair, "Is she the one?"
Wen Ting Hua was curious but he didn't say anything further and looked back at his aunt not wanting to alarm the others about him finding the red haired girl.
"You really made me proud." Xiao Chen appreciated him for his success in the mission given by the emperor to him.
Nodding a little he acknowledged her.
Chao Xing on the other hand never looked up. Her head was always down, not caring even a little to look at the prince.
Besides, she knew the people in that era took these things seriously and she was already in trouble, and didn't want any more than that.
"What's going on here?" Wen Ting Hua asked, looking at the girl and then back at his aunt.
"Oh yeah! Throw this girl in the dungeon. Let her learn some manners there and until the girl can't wake up let her stay there." Xiao Chen ordered Fei Hong pointing towards Chao Xing.
Chao Xing's eyes went wide when she heard the word dungeon. Hurriedly she looked up at Xiao Chen and then only her eyes fell on Wen Ting Hua.
"You…" Chao Xing was looking directly at him as she realised that he was the same man who she met in the forest.
"How dare you?" Xiao Chen angrily yelled at Chao Xing making her come back in reality.
Seeing her getting angry at her Chao Xing again put her head down with hands crossed she stood there.
"Take this girl away. Let her learn some manners." Xiao Chen angrily shouted.
While Wen Ting Hua just stood there unbothered by the situation. He was shocked too seeing the same girl he met in the forest.
Looking at her he was getting many thoughts.
'Why was she here and in the forest too?'
'Is the red haired girl the old man was talking about?'
'Or she might be someone else. I must be careful.'
With these thoughts he didn't say anything and let things be.
Two guards came from outside. Grabbing Chao Xing from both arms, they dragged her outside. Gritting her teeth with anger she just went with them.
Nor for once she begged for mercy or tried explaining herself. Wen Ting Hua was curious seeing that too, 'Why didn't she beg for mercy? Is she stupid or arrogant?'
Chao Xing was taken directly to the dungeon. The guard took her to the last one. Opening the door which only had a little window on it.
Pushing Chao Xing inside the cell they closed the door. Looking around Chao Xing saw only darkness there.
There was only a single bed kept there on one side. No window was there, some chains were kept on a side which was probably used to chain prisoners.
"I can't believe I am in a real dungeon."
Even though she was trying her best to be strong she was still feeling scared somehow.
"Why is it so dark here?"
"I don't want to be here!"
She looked here and there trying to think of a way to get out from there but then she couldn't find any.
"Thank God I got my book with me before coming. I knew something bad was going to happen but.." Chao Xing stopped for a second, "I wasn't expecting to be stuck here in this dungeon."
Heaving a huge sigh, Chao Xing went and sat down on the cold bed.
"Let's just do something about that riddle thing now. At least I can do that peacefully now..."
