Chapter 1: 1. They are among us

"You have a choice, Miss. Wanda. You and your brother have been a pain in the neck and if you ever want to see him again, Get me the ware." Flavio Rizzo's words ran thick through Wanda Forte's mind. The drug lord ruling the west wing of Cuwan had caught up to her and Fabian. They were only reckless teenagers who wanted to survive. If they had known, They would not have dared step on the toes of Flavio. Now the man had her brother hostage and she would only be getting him back alive if she obeyed. Flavio had given her one last job to pull. Wanda stared into the bit of crumpled paper that determined if her brother lived or not. It had the words 110 inscribed in blue ink. That was the last job; Burst into a warehouse that was now packed up because of a recent pandemic and steal item 110. Sure it sounded easy but if Flavio had entrusted it in a hands of a thief rather than his loyal men, It had to be something bigger than her.

Wanda's journey came to an end when she spotted the warehouse in front of her. As she had been assured, the place was desolate. The houses along the barren road were on the verge became more of a junkyard than the junkyard. Wanda forced her mind back to the mission at hand so she could get it over with. All that remained was to break in and discreetly take what she needed, give the item to Flavio, disappear from the city, and never set eyes on trouble again. Wanda took one last look at the warehouse. Its roof was curved like an aircraft hangar and the walls are corrugated tin. The broken tarmac around it was empty except for a forklift that looked like it was recently used. be in use again. There is something new though. A chain-link fence surrounded it. Wanda gathered it must have been put there in place of the reduced guards. Not that she cared though, There was nothing keeping her out. It would just be a matter of time before she was in and within the four scrap walls. It's not as brave as it sounds though. There were still motion sensors, security footage and the chance of there being some guard on duty is pretty much high.

Wanda successfully snuck in. It was dark and the only thing she could make out with her bad eyesight was the beams stretched overhead and many many shelves. She stepped further into the building, wispy investigating the shelves for package 110.

"Is that it?" She heard someone say.

Instinctively, she recoiled, clutching harder to the hoodie draped over her head as she tried to find the speaker. It was strange. The warehouse was supposed to be abandoned. Except, of course, They were thieves like her. She cautiously walked up to where she heard the voice, listening further.

"Yes, it is."A second voice answered.

Her hands trailed along the crevices of the open shelves as she finally stumbled on the Intruders. Two men. A distinct thing among them was their hair. One had acid green hair and pine green eyes, The other had crimson red hair and Ruby-like irises.

"Strange how humans have started hunting the one thing they should be afraid of."

"What were they talking about?" Wanda thought. Had she stumbled upon some sick exchange? The way they used the term humans sounded like they were traffickers. As much as she strongly suspected they were human traffickers. Wanda was sure she was wrong. This was no abandoned building. At least it was not three months ago. They had to be thieves. Thieves who had no idea what the term 'No standing out meant'. The green-haired man pulled the lid over whatever package he was holding and took a sniff of the contents within. He coughed and Wanda swore she saw his full pine orbs glow bottle green. She was not wrong. Two Tiny filamentous wings, transparent wings, like a butterfly except more translucent shot out of the green-haired man's back.

"Nothing hits better than vampire ash."

Wanda squeaked at the sight, getting their attention. She bolted outside immediately. What did she just witness? She with her very own eyes saw a man with terrible fashion taste transform into a... man butterfly... The pounding noise of her shoes resonating off the walls of the warehouse with a clanging echo. For a brief second, Wanda looked behind her to see if they were after her. They were there. The green man's wings were gone but Wanda knew what she had seen. She was not stopping. Not after all she had seen or what she thought she had seen.

"Stop!" One of them called out and moments later, She heard a loud boom. It wasn't a bullet because Wanda saw a ball of red light whoosh past her, missing her by an inch. She barely had time to scream as suddenly, Wanda missed her footing, lost her balance, and went head first to the tarmac floor. Pain whooshed through her sharply as her tongue tasted crimson. Leather black boots descended before her and she felt burly hands caress her face.

"She tastes of fear. I suspect she has seen you without a glamor Lorenzen." The Ruby eyed one noted.

"Then we kill her." The other opined.

They wanted her dead. Wanda reached to her side to pick out her last resort. A gun her brother had handed to her if things went wrong. Wanda was in no way a killer but there was no other choice. Wanda tightened her hand on the cold metal well hidden behind her sweater while she waited for an opening, one wrong move. Suddenly, cold hands ripped against her hands making her shriek.

"She has a gun," The green-haired one pointed out. "She needs to be gotten rid of."

"No!" The second one objected. "If Luca finds out we made a reckless decision without his permission, He would flip. We will take her to him."

Wanda jerked. She couldn't let them kidnap her. she had a brother to save, A job to complete. She tried pushing the burly man off her but it was no use. She doubted if he was even human. The Ruby eyed one who had just spared her life even if she still could not trust him reach over and smile at her. There was some kind of sparkly dust in his hand. She winced back just wondering what he was going to do.

"What are you going to do to me?" Wanda quivered.

He did not reply. Instead, he blew the sparkly red dust directly on her face. All of a sudden, her strength left her and she couldn't fight anymore. The last thing she remembered was being picked up before she passed out.
