Chapter 3: The Aquaintance
Mindy's POV
I was so angry at Linda, she was such a pain in the neck. I remembered when she first got her job as a help in my mansion.
She was a street wretch who stood at the gate of my mansion pleading for help.
I took her in after all she had no one in the city. Her parents lived in Las Vegas living off a little eatery, which rarely had any customers.

It rained heavily that night, my car drove past her and out of pity I hired her. Mike was in my arms and Adam was driving when he noticed her.
Adam helped her and took her inside to get warmed up.
Typical Adam he always looked after everyone he had everyone's intrest at heart.
She was shivering all over and my Mike was crying so loudly.
I was still very weak and couldn't help him to be calm.
Linda stretched forth her hands to try and calm him.
I refused bluntly and got angry at her. I wanted to have her sent out of our house.
She broke down and went down on her knees begging. Her tears probably filled the whole house, such a drama queen.
But Adam, my sweet husband he would never let anyone cry in his presence.
It was a feature that I loved and hated about him which I had to accept.
Adam took Mike from my arms and he gave him to Linda. It wasn't easy for her to calm him down, since newsflash I was his mum.
But she was able to calm him down which made him feel jealous.
Adam took notice but he still wanted her as a nanny for our son. He urged me to support him in his decision which I did not like.
But because I loved him so much and I needed the break I let him do so. Plus it would be good for me and Adam to get some time to ourselves.
I hired her on one condition, and that was that she could not make any decision concerning Mike without consulting me first.
I had been living with her for twelve years and yet she didn't get me.
I tried not to let it get to me and just go over there and apologise then end this.
At last I got to the police station it had been a long time since i had stepped into one.
The last time was during the period of Adam's death when I came to file a report.
It was our wedding anniversary and he had planned a special dessert dinner. He rented a full resturant just for the both of us.
Mike was eight and he was at the cinema with his friends accompanied by Linda of course.
I got dressed up and went in the limo to meet up with him.
I had got a gift for him as well, a diamond watch custom made for him.
I gave him before i left for our dinner date it was all perfectly planned.
I made hotel reservations for both of us in a luxurious suite.
The place was beautiful all in blue as it was my my favorite colour. I was really impressed as our favourite band played my favourite song.
But I was kept waiting for over an hour but he didn't show. I called multiple times yet no answer which got me scared.
I was anxious and called home but only remembered that no one was at home.
When things got too much I left to this same police station. I filed a missing person's complaint and as a Bowen I got special treatment.
I was at the station all night waiting for any update on the investigation.
I knew the investigation wasn't to be conducted until twenty four hours.
The Officers could not refuse me or I would leave them homeless.
It was by eleven fifty nine that i got the picture of his dead body.
I smashed things non-stop and had to be taken to a hospital after I fainted.
It was the most shocking news of my life and it broke me. He was stabbed by his murderer right outside his office.
Oh my am busying recalling all these memories when am about to be put in jail.
I walked fearlessly into the station and was met a mad crazy nanny.
She was screaming "arrest her" like a crazy person blocking my ears.
" Could someone tell her to keep quiet" I said.
Immediately the officer there shouted her down and made her sit in a corner.
"Can I get you something to drink?" an Officer offered me. I did not even pay any attention to him or anyone else. It would be operation in and out I wanted to leave as quickly as possible.
"Officer can you please tell me why am here on such short notice?" I asked as I took a seat comfortably looking at him intimidatingly.
I knew he was scared of me and it was good to know I had control.
I learnt from business that you must always have the upperhand in everything and have total dominance.
It was a dirty game and one can only be on top if you can take advantage of the other person's weakness. Now his weakness was his phobia of loosing his new job that he got thanks to moi.
"This woman here as filed a complaint against you due to your use of violence. This will require a huge bail or..." he left that part hanging. It only meant that i would go behind bars which i would not allow.
"Well then what if we let this case off with a warning instead. It is such a trivial matter" it said.
Linda whom had been sitting quietly stood up with anger written all over her face.
"This is illegal and wrong!" Linda screamed very loudly trying to seek justice.
"Would someone tell her to keep calm and shut up!" I raised my tone a bit due to the fact that my patience was running out slowly but surely.
The Officer brought papers for me to sign so as I could leave.
Finally! It was becoming irritating for me. As I picked my pen the captain of the department came in and looked curious.
The Officers saluted him and he sat down looking in control of everything. I did not like that and called an officer to my side.
"Who is he?" I asked, "he's the newly transferred captain"
"Ok, is he easy or hard?" I asked meaning if he took bribes or not.
"He is very hard he can't be bought" the officer informed me and left.
"Hello" I said and extended my hand to shake his to introduce myself formally.
"Am Mindy Bowen, C.E.O of Bowen inc and you are?" I asked smiling.
"Didn't that officer tell you already so no need to get acquainted with each other. What is the problem here," he asked.
He was getting under my skin, I really hated him now.
"Sir Miss Lindy has filed a complaint against Mrs Bowen for physical assault."
"Then do you agree to the allegations made against you?" he asked sternly. I only noded in affirmation.
"Then lock her up in a cell already" he said.
I was so suprised at how fast this went and I refused to be put in prison. Over my dead body!
"Can I please have a word with her for a while?" I asked.
"No"he said.
"I think I have that much privileged"I argued,not willing to be put down.
"Ok five minutes" he was such a grouch and it got me mad.
I pulled her along with me to the ladies bathroom and made sure no one was inside.
Lindy looked all tough and courageous now with police support.
"Lindy this was so uncalled for and I don't see the need for any of it" I frankly told her.
"You've worked for my family for twelve years and I don't want this petty fight spoil that."I said,in a fake tone of sincerity.
"I've served you for twelve years and iy don't appreciate this kind of behaviour at least I deserve more than this. I deserve much more than this and you know it".Lindy was aiming at something and I knew what it was.
"Linda I will give you your salary for six months if you drop this. Then leave my house for good" I made sure to sound that part clearly.
She cleared her throat and I felt that she wanted more than what I ordered.
"You slapped me twice so I deserve twice that amount" Linda said with a greedy smile.
I hissed at her and sighed but I would do just about anything to get out of this mess.
"Okay fine I agree to your demand and I will get you that cheque" I Said as I looked at this worthless woman.
After a few minutes the both of us left the ladies room and went back to the office.
I saw two female officers holding handcuffs and saw an open cell and it was so disgusting to look at.
"Put her in the cell" Mr Hillman said with a wicked smile.
"There's no need for that anymore am withdrawing my complaint against Mrs Bowen" Linda said.
He looked affected by what Linda said and lost his words.
"Why" he managed to say.
"Don't force me into taking any wrong decision that I don't want to take, it's a petty squabble" Linda said.
I smiled at Mr Hillman and looked at him showing that I had won.
It felt so good to be back in control of everything. It was a terrible defeat for him and this made me smile.
"Well you heard her she wants to withdraw from the case so.." he then cut me off- imagine!
I could sense his shock on how quickly I had convinced Linda and got her under my control.
"Both of you aren't going anywhere until the paper work had been finished".
This was annoying for me to hear and I hated waiting for anything. I rarely had patience for anything and hated the idea of being idle.
I hate staying in one place and starting tapping my foot and looking around.
"How long will it be?" I asked,
"ten minutes twenty tops!" I looked like I would not be able to make it.
"Can't I leave and come tomorrow" I asked feeling anxious.
"No, if you do then you will get arrested for it" Mr Hillman said. I was unsure of the sincerity of his answer and began doubting him.
"Go get me a doughnut" he told a police officer.
"Can i get one too?" I requested trying to look formal.
"Sorry it's the last one" Mr Hillman Lied obviously and it left me confused.
"Could i get a cup of coffee?" I asked feeling a bit hungry.
"The machine is broken" he said and immediately a cup of coffee was given to him.
I looked at him with hate and I could just rip him apart.
I got a text and opened my phone to go through it.
1: There's a meeting at the office and you need to be here now.
2: Mr Santos has set your private meeting with you during the weekend to today. At evening, the address and time are on your email.
I was at my limits I wanted to cry loudly and sob.
On one hand is this really important meeting and I have already missed it before. I got luck on my side before but i might not get that lucky again.
Then there's this I can't walk out on this or else...
If it leaks out to the press then my reputation is over, Adam's reputation is over.
I just did not know what I should do and I thought of calling in sick.
It was too risky I had idiot business associates who'd mess things up.
I was about to throw a fit and scream till a man came in with the papers ready to be signed.
I sighed out of relief and quickly signed the papers and disappeared.
Mr Hillman watched as I left in my car and gave a wicked smile as both of us knew it wouldn't be the last time we'd meet.
I drove senselessly and recklessly trying to make it to the meeting.
On my way my car broke down and I went out of the car to inspect.
I grew angry and called for a car and kicked the tyre.
I screamed and thought to myself feeling frustrated"nothing good can happen now".
I took that back coz, as I turned around I saw Green eyes behind me.
He parked his car and came out and saw me too.
I put my foot down and forgot it was hurting and yelled"ahhhhhh!".
He chuckled and it also made me giggle as I swayed my hair backwards.
God I was terrible at flirting and it was so obvious.
I closed my eyes in shame and I felt his skin close to mine and it felt so gooooood😚
I felt his lips brush past my ear and it felt like heaven.
As I held my bag I brought the rose and opened my eyes and did see feel him.
He was no longer there and I looked behind me and it was strange.
Green eyes just walked past me!
Phew!
