Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Amber's Childhood Friend

Drying his hair with a towel, Edwin came out of the bathroom and sat on the spacious bed in his room. He was wearing a loose and comfortable white tunic and a pair of light brown pants that he had taken from the closet in the bathroom. His post-shower glow accentuating his extremely handsome features, from the tousled blond hair that framed his face to the captivating blue eyes that sparkled with vitality.

After he finished drying his hair, Edwin threw the towel onto the chair beside the bed and let himself fall on the soft bed backwards.

"Haaa, finally a nice fluffy bed… I always thought traveling the world would be an exciting thing to do. But, when you experience it for real, you realize how arduous and difficult it is"

Even though the journey did not take a toll on him physically, it did drain him mentally. When he lived in Livian's sacred realm, he had everything at his disposal so he hadn't realized their true value. Now, on the long trip and without even a proper toilet, he began to understand how lucky he had been.

Edwin felt a little sluggish as he lay down. He frowned and rubbed his forehead with his hand.

"How uncomfortable... Ever since I arrived in Aspranie, I feel as if the air here is suffocating me."

He jumped up nimbly from his bed and went to the window. After opening it, Edwin took a deep breath as a gentle breeze blew through his still wet hair.

"Ahh... That's better."

After that, he looked out over the views of the moonlit city. From his room, slightly higher than the castle walls, he could see the roads of the big city, filled with magical lights. In the obscurity of the night, these illuminated pathways seamlessly intertwined, forming a cohesive structure that, when viewed collectively, bore a striking resemblance to a vast and intricate labyrinth. And for Edwin, it was a stunning sight.

A smile began to form on Edwin's face. "Finally... After all these years of diligence and hard training, here I am. Now I can be a real hero, just like in the legends."

His eyes began to glow with a white light as if to show his excitement. He was filled with anticipation that he could finally explore this vast world and go on thrilling adventures while helping people.

Suddenly Edwin thought of something and couldn't help but laugh. "Hahahahahaha... I wonder if people will give me nicknames like they do for legendary heroes. Something similar to 'The Blond Haired Hero' or 'The Prince of Swords'." After his own words, he grimaced with displeasure. "... Damn, I hope not! It feels really weird to imagine such a name for myself."

Edwin stopped talking and took a moment to lean against the window. With a peaceful smile on his face, he silently looked around. After a few moments of serenity, Edwin suddenly began to think about Olivia.

'I wonder what's happened to me when I was with her. I've never felt anything like this when I stroked Livian's hair. Maybe because of the air of this world, but sometimes I feel a little distracted.'

Edwin was thinking about the feelings he felt when he was with Olivia. Than, he lifted his head and spoke to himself in a low voice with a lost expression as he watched the shining stars in the dark sky.

"... Maybe the first thing I should do is to understand why these feelings are coming out of nowhere."

Sweet, indefinable and stirring... This feelings had a strange appeal for Edwin, who was unaware of what they were. But perhaps not everything was as lovely as it seemed. Only time would tell.

He was deep in thought again when he heard a knock on the door. Distracted by the sound, Edwin turned around and looked towards the door.

'Huhh? Could it be Olivia? Maybe there's something she forgot to tell me.'

He walked up to the door and called out.

"Who is it?"

A polite but firm male voice came from behind the door.

"Good evening, sir! I was in the room next to yours, and I heard some sounds coming from here. So, I thought I'd drop by and say hello. I knocked on your door a little while ago, but it seems like you were in the bath. Are you available now?"

Edwin was surprised. He did not expect to hear a man's voice behind the door. But when he heard the kind words of the stranger, he too responded in a kind way.

"Oh, please forgive me! I was taking a bath after a long journey and failed to notice you. I'll open the door right away."

Edwin turned the lock on the door and slowly opened it. Behind the door was a young man with a smile on his face. He looked about the same age as Edwin. He opened his mouth to say something, but when he saw Edwin's appearance, his eyes widened in surprise and he remained still.

The young man in front of Edwin was a tall, well-built man with short dark blue hair. He wore a well-fitting, flashy, dark blue tunic and fine quality black pants that highlighted his muscular body. His face was not particularly handsome, but his pointed chin and sharp light blue eyes gave him a stern and confident presence.

The man in front of him hadn't moved yet, so Edwin had a chance to observe him with ease. After his first encounters with Amber and Olivia, he was getting used to these kinds of situations.

Edwin could tell by the crest on the chest of the young man's suit that he was a nobleman. In addition, his physical build and confident stance announced to the experienced eyes that he was an accomplished warrior.

When Edwin had finished examining this well-built man, he turned his head to face him. Then, Edwin addressed the man, who was still looking at him in shock, in a polite tone.

"Excuse me, I've kept you waiting. My name is Edwin, noble gentleman, what is your name?"

"M-my name?"

Recovering after Edwin's words, the young man realized that he looked like an idiot and immediately attempted to put things right. He let out a loud laugh and introduced himself with a friendly smile.

"Hahaha, excuse me, my dear friend, for a moment I was shocked and embarrassed by your appearance. I am Ravus Drakoneth, the first son of Kaldor Drakoneth and the rightful heir to the Drakoneth Family"

Edwin smiled at his sincerity and shook his head slightly. "It is really not important. Then, Lord Ravus, it is a pleasure to meet you."

"Come on, Edwin! You don't have to be so serious. We're both guests here, it's better to call each other by our first names." Ravus said cordially and extended his hand towards Edwin to shake hands.

"Well, then I won't be polite anymore either. it's nice to meet you, Ravus."

Edwin shook Ravus's hand firmly. He was really glad to meet someone who spoke so freely. It always made him feel more comfortable to speak clearly and openly than fake politeness.

Ravus burst out laughing. "Hahaha, nice to meet you too, Edwin!"

At the end of his words, Ravus stopped as if he realized something and looked curiously at Edwin.

"Edwin, you haven't told me your last name yet. Since you're staying here as a guest, you must be someone important, right? Or are you trying to be mysterious?"

In response to Ravus' question, Edwin put his hand to his chest and began to speak in a calm tone.

"I am a warrior chosen by the Goddess Livian, Ravus, not a nobleman. When I chose this path, I left my family name behind and dedicated myself to fighting for good in the name of the Goddess Livian."

Ravus smiled warmly "Even if you are not noble in name, your deeds make you noble in heart, Edwin. And since you are here, Lady Salina must really care for you."

Edwin nodded with a small smile at these words "Thank you, Ravus. But I have not yet had the chance to meet Lady Salina. I came here because of Amber's kind invitation."

"A-Amber! How do you know Amber?" Ravus's voice showed a surprised expression, but his eyes momentarily glowed with a sharp blue light.

Not noticing this, Edwin continued to speak with the same sincerity. "Ahh, Amber and I met by chance a few days ago, we became friends, and then we came all the way here together."

Ravus sighed and spoke with a genuine expression.

"Ohh, I see, Amber has always been the one who pushes other people away. It's really nice to see her making new friends."

Edwin asked curiously at these words.

"Ravus, you sound like you know Amber. Can you two be friends?"

"Yes, I've known Amber since we were kids, actually..." He looked Edwin straight in the eye before finishing his words. "... Amber is my fiancée."
