Chapter 2: This can't be happening (2)

"I caught you," Instead of having a comeback to what I just said, he paused and gave me a sly smile, "I like it when you swear."

"Oh please." I turned away from him.

He smiled again. To be completely honest, I did like the way he smiled. Though I'd never want to admit this, he was quite handsome. And when he smiled like this, it was actually kind of endearing. But, most importantly, I had standards. There was no way for me to end up with this prude, this selfish, pretentious, sly, devious Slytherin.

"You should've added, handsome, affluent, enchanting and charming." He whispered into my ear and like a coward, I blushed.

"How dare you attempted to read my mind!" I nearly gritted my teeth. Seeing my embarrassment, he smiled again.

"Because like I said, you'll be Hermione Malfoy someday, and we are the Malfoys."

"You've lost your mind." I slid my arm around his waist like I was hugging him. But in reality, I pinched him. I felt the arm he was holding me with trembled a little.

"You…" He cursed. I couldn't what he said, and I decided to ignore him.

In the end, I couldn't say no to him and reluctantly sat down at the Slytherin table. The Slytherins were staring me down and this made me more than uncomfortable. Hermione Granger was no lamb to be slaughtered by these wolves, I had to stand up for myself.

"Please, everyone, you can't get full by simply staring at me." I said in an unapologetic voice, almost like I was imitating Malfoy, "Yes, as you can see, I am currently dating Draco Malfoy. I'm happy to address your concerns."

"You are lying, you dirty mudblood. There's no way Draco would want you. What have you done to him?" Pansy Parkinson let out a squeak, point at me with panic and anger.

"You know there's something called love," I said, pretending to be empathetic. I lifted my glass of pumpkin juiced and slightly shook it, "I'd hope you know what that is. Also, even Draco no longer has a problem with my blood, what's that have to do with you anyway? I'm sorry, Parkinson, it only shows how unattractive you are. You know, how your dearest Draco, who you chased for seven years, was conquered by the mudblood who you hated the most, within a summer's time."

I shot her another empathetic look, shook my head and took a sip of the pumpkin juice. Suddenly, I realized the Slytherins were all staring at me, in complete silence.

"Are you sure you are Hermione Granger?" Blaise Zabini asked out of the blue.

"Yes, I'm sure." I took another sip of my pumpkin juice, watching Zabini shaking his head. I turned to Malfoy, "What's the matter?"

"You've changed." Malfoy said quietly with a frown. He seemed, well, bothered.

Have I changed? Since when?

It was when I ran into the damned Draco Malfoy during summer break.
