Chapter 13: Young Devils Gathering

The moment we passed through the city gates I saw a flood of devils.

Ever since I had been reborn in this world I had never seen so many devils in one place. But that just goes to show how populated Lucifaad truly is.

Angelica and Ruval stared out the windows the entire time until we arrived at our lodgings for the duration of our stay in the underworld capital.

It was in the nobles district.

And like one would expect from any nobles district it was extravagant beyond belief.

Each of the residents we saw looked like a mini castle.

Seeing this up close was a bit surreal for me. I knew noble devils were rich, but seeing something on a screen versus seeing it in real life really drives home the point.

We have nothing like these homes in my territory.

But once again until just recently my family was basically poor, so I understand why.

That's why I made a note of all the castles and their designs in my head. That way when I returned home I could begin building a castle in the Belial territory. Not because I wanted to, but because we needed to. We needed to show the other the pillar clans we now had wealth just like they did, and what better way than with a castle? Every other pillar clan has one, so why shouldn't we?

Anyway, our group split up from Ruval and Caren after we arrived.

They had their own lodgings while we had ours.

But I told Ruval to come and find us once the gathering started. To which he agreed.

Once that was all said and done I got settled into my lodgings. Then the next few days passed in the blink of an eye, and before I knew it it was time for the party.

Let's get it started.

-----------------------------------

Dressed in regal attire I have a small black cape resting on my left arm, the clan symbol of my house displayed for all to see.

Angelica is standing by my side in a black dress, her hair tied up in a bun instead of her usual twin-tails. She is also wearing grey silken-gloves that go just past her elbows.

"Are you ready for this?" I asked her.

"Yes." Angelica mused.

"That's good." I told her.

I then heard a voice call my name.

"From the house of Belial I present to you Asterius Belial." A man said.

Once he did Angelica and I locked arms and then walked past the currents in front of us.

The moment we did we found ourselves in an amphitheater littered with people the same age us, or a few years older.

There are also tables filled with extravagant food and drink, as well as guards and a few adults.

This is the young devils gathering my friends.

Everyone clapped as Angelica and I were introduced.

The two of us smiled and waved as he walked into the crowd.

When we were done the announcer called for the next young heir to come forth, and things proceeded in the same fashion. Until finally everyone had been introduced.

Once they were the party finally got started.

Angelica and I moved over to one of the food tables and began to eat. As we did I saw people staring at me, and heard various whispers.

"Is that him, the genius of the Belial Clan?"

"Yes it is."

"I heard he's one of the three geniuses of this generation. And that him and the other two are leagues above the other young devils in terms of power."

"I've heard he's facilitated deals that have improved his clans territory by leaps and bounds."

'He's pretty cute."

"Stop that, he's already got a fiancée."

That and various other whispers went around about me but I paid them no mind since I knew it was coming.

I am a rising star after all.

Angelica and I moved away from the table with our food. We then started to mingle with the other guests as is courtesy, but really I didn't want to. Almost every devil I talked to either wanted to kiss my ass to gain my favor, or subtlety made jabs at my person out of some misplaced hatred because I was stronger than them.

The usual in a situation like mine.

But being a gentleman I just smiled and waved. I also thought about the various ways I could murder the people I was talking to.

It kept me sane.

"Thank you for the lovely chat madman." I said to an older devil lady who has been eyeing me like a prime rib steak since our conversation began.

I am too young for cougars.

Maybe in another decade, but not right now.

"It was my pleasure." The woman said to me, placing her hand on my arm. She then gave it a little squeeze. "My you have such strong muscles. But then again you do look like a strong young man who takes care of his body."

"Yes madam I do." I said.

"Yes, he sure does." A familiar voice said.

Roygun came up to my side and gently brushed the cougars hand off my arm. She then pushed into her lovely breasts and leaned into me.

She really saved my ass. It makes me cherish her all the more.

"Hello madam I am Roygun Belphegor, Asterius's fiancée. We haven't had the pleasure, have we?" She asked, clearly marking her territory.

"No we haven't." The cougar said. She then looked around. "Excuse me I just spotted an old friend." She said.

She then walked off.

Oldest trick in the book, but I'm certainly not complaining. I felt my butt was in danger the longer that cougar talked to me.

Once she was gone Roygun stopped squeezing my arm. Instead she held my hand, telling everyone I was hers and she was mine.

"Thanks for the save." I whispered to her.

"No problem." She whispered back.

The two of us then maneuvered over to one of the emptier parts of the amphitheater.

When we did I saw a guy with dark green hair sitting against the wall alone. He has his head on his knees.

I walked over to him.

In my last life I didn't have many friends. Social events like this were hard for me, so I know this guys pain. That's why I can't just ignore it. I'll extend an olive branch, and I hope that he takes it.

"Excuse me?" I said, standing over the male.

He looked up at me. When I did I saw he had yellow eyes and slightly pointed ears just like me.

"Yes?" He said.

"What are you doing sitting over here all alone? This is a party after all." I said.

"It's fine." He said. "Besides, parties and I don't really mix."

"I'm the same way." I said.

"Like I'll believe that." He told me. "You are Asterius Belial after all. One of the geniuses of our generation. People have been talking to you all night. You're basically the center of attention, and you're saying to don't like parties. Look if you're just going to mess with me then please move on. I don't need it tonight."

"I'm not messing with you." I said.

"It's true." Roygun said, stepping up to join us. "Asterius really can't stand this party. The only reason he is here is because he has to be, and I am the same way. This room is way to stuffy and all these fake smiles really disgust me."

The boy looked at Roygun like she was crazy.

"Hey now, why are you staring at me so hard? Could it be you fell in love with me at first sight?" She asked me him with a teasing tone.

The boy blushed. "N-no." He stammered. "I would never, I have a fiancée!" He hurriedly spoke.

I chuckled at this. "Roygun dear, I think you should stop now. If you continue it's just bullying." I said.

"Wait, are you messing with me?" He asked us.

"Not me, but she is." I said, pointing to Roygun.

"I regret nothing." She said with a proud smile on her face.

"Hey!" A female voice called out to us

Turning around Roygun and I saw a girl our age. She is in a black dress. She has dark-blue hair and matching eyes. She also has pointed ears, and like Roygun has horns on her head but they are red in color.

"What do you think you are doing bullying Camio?!" She asked, almost shouted at us.

That's when Camio stood up. "Elysa no, you've got it all wrong." Camio spoke up. "They weren't trying to bully me, they were just trying to be friendly is all." He explained.

"Yeah right." Elysa said, walking up to Roygun. "I saw this pink-haired one with the lumps of fat on her chest laughing at you. Does that make you happy, huh?"

Roygun put a smile on her face, but her eyes are not smiling at all.

"My, my, you have quite the mouth yourself do you not you black-haired loud mouth." Roygun countered.

The two of them looked at each other and I swear I can see sparks flying between their gazes.

So before it could escalate I placed a hand on Royguns' shoulder and stepped in front of the girl. "Greeting my name is Asterius Belial, and I just want to say we were not bullying Camio here. If you thought we were then I sincerely apologize, but that was not our intention. I was actually the one who came up to him and began chatting him up when I saw him sitting here in the corner all of alone." I explained.

"Yes, it's the truth Elysa." Camio spoke.

Hearing that Elysa took a breath and calmed down.

The same with Roygun.

"Sorry." Elysa said.

"It's fine." Roygun spoke. "You saw someone bullying your friend and you stepped in to help him, nothing wrong with that." She said.

"Actually, Elysa is my fiancée." Camio revealed.

"Yep, I sure am." Elysa said. "The name is Elysa Eligos. And my fiancée here is Camio Beleth." She said, pointing to him.

"Yes, nice to meet you once more." Camio said.

"The same." I said. "As you know I am Asterius Belial. And this pink-haired beauty next to me is my fiancée Roygun Belphegor."

"Oh we know who you are." Elysa said. "You are one of the main topics at tonight's gathering."

"Believe me I know." I said, releasing a small sigh.

Camio and Elysa both laughed at that.

"You know you're nothing like I expected." Elysa told me. "From all the rumors going around I thought you might be a pompous ass."

"No, no, no, that's not me at all." I said. I then leaned in and whispered. "You've got me confused with the maou descendants."

"Pftt." Elysa used her hand to stifle her laughter.

Camio did the same thing.

Meanwhile Roygun kept her chuckling low as to not grab anyone's attention.

"Good one." Camio told me.

"Thank you." I said. I then decided that these two were good people so I am going to show them my invention.

These two are also from extinct future pillar clans, so gaining connections with them will make it easier to save their houses when the Civil War starts. Because the Eligos and Beleth clan have some pretty amazing clan traits.

The Beleth clans's clan trait is known as [Sharpen]. Which is exactly how it sounds. Members of the Beleth clan can sharpen anything. Weapons, magic, even their own bodies. They can turn a blunt sword into a deadly weapon with just a touch. I've even heard the masters of their clan trait can sharpen things to such a degree they can even cut through space.

Then we have the Eligos clan.

Their clan trait is actually one of the most dangerous. It is known as [Psychometry]. This clan trait allows members of the Eligos clan to gain insight into past events by touching an object or a person. They can even copy the knowledge of anything they touch. If they touch a master martial artists they gain their skills and knowledge, the same if they touch a master craftsman or a master swordsman. They can even replicated unique spells. However they cannot replicate the clan traits of the other devil clans. Even so their power is nothing to sneeze at. Those who master this power are said to be able look into the future itself, and predict outcome of events to take place.

But currently no member of the Eligos clan can see into the future. If they could, then seeing the Civil War and speaking on the matter would certainly alter things.

Bottom line is I like these two, and I want to be friends with them.

"Hey, come with me for a moment I want to show you guys something." I told them

I then stepped to the side Camio, Elysa, and Roygun moving with me.

Then once we were far enough away from everyone else I pulled out my tablet and powered it up. The second I did a 3-D hologram projected itself into the air leaving everyone mesmerized.

Roygun knew what I was working it, but this is the first time she is seeing the finished product.

"What is this?" Camio asked.

"A tablet I created using nothing but technology. No magic whatsoever." I explained.

"Can I have one?" Elysa said.

"No." I said. "The one in my hands is the only one I have. But I wanted to show it off to you guys because I want to build more of them. I actually want to build a lot of things, and I would like to have help doing it. So, would you two be interested?" I asked.

"Why us?" Camio asked. "I mean Elysa and I are just members of the branch family's after all. Wouldn't it make more sense to show this to some of the other heirs?"

"Nah." I said, waving Camio off. "Those guys are either ass kissers or will stab me in the back the first chance they get. Unlike you guys who are real and act normally around me despite my status. That's why I want to team up with you. How about it?"

"Yes." Elysa said.

"This tablet is amazing." Camio mused. "Tell me, what type of power source did you use to get the projection system up and running and stabilized but was able to keep the device so compact?" Camio looked away the moment he finished. "Sorry, I got carried away."

"Camio is a real bookworm." Elysa revealed. "Every time we meet up he's always caring one with him." She revealed.

"Elysa, don't!" Camio cried.

Looking at them I can tell they really are a good match.

"It's fine." I said. "You can ask your questions, and all will be revealed. But later." I said. I then put the tablet away. "Now then let's get back to the party before people come to check up on us."

The others nodded and so we returned into the fold.

Right after we did Angelica came up to me. Giving me both my ladies on my arms.

We mingled, we ate some more, and we even found Ruval and chatted him up.

This went on for a while, until it was all interrupted.

"Attention!" A voice shouted.

Everyone in the room turned in its direction. We then saw a man standing at the head of the amphitheater.

"Be ready. The future Maou are about to grace you with their presence." He spoke.

As if we should be honored for the children of the previous Maou to come here.

Pretentious assholes.

Though I will admit.

I am curious to see what my future enemies look like.
