Chapter 1: CHAPTER 1 : DISGRACE

Rain poured heavily throughout the entire city of Telsus symbolizing the endless bitter tears oozing from her eyes.

Water of pain flooded the streets, spreading the agony a lone woman felt.

She was broken in pieces.

Torn in shreds. Betrayed. Stomped down, beaten, humiliated til she was left with nothing. Her once porcelain skin were covered with bluish bruises. Her hair akin to a rug for not being washed and combed for almost weeks. Her clothes were torn un shreds, barely covering her trembling little body. Her eyes lost it's shimmer and had turned dull.

She was but a mess.

As seconds ticked by, she was starting to lose all strings of sanity if not for the bracelet on her wrist. Her only possession that was left and the only thing that kept her going on despite the indescribable torment she had experienced in this hell like place.

The only warmth that kept her alive during this times were she thought of giving up.

Never in her life, did she expect the ones she considered family were the ones who would do such thing to her. Disowning and beating her is not enough because they even sold her to strangers and send her overseas to a place alien to her. Demanding her to do the lowest work, she never expected.

"you're a disgrace, Auryll!"

"we had given you everything, yet you have repaid us with this?!. You worthless, ungrateful bitch!"

"I should've aborted you at the very beggining"

"you always brought trouble to this family. Can you be even more useless?!"

Those were the insults, the yells she had heard from her dear parents. The people who she thought they genuinely cared for her. Their loud voices still ringing on her ears. Glasses shattering around and tables flying to end up being broken when came in contact with the walls.

Slaps that showered her cheeks, kicks on her stomach almost every failure.

The sole reason why she went beyond her limits and even gave up pursuing her own dreams just to achieve theirs. Having sleepless nights earning big eye bags hanging underneath her eyes and starving herself to impress them.

So that maybe, maybe someday they will be a bit proud of her or even consider her as a daughter like her sister who was unlike her, pampered by her parents and showered with love and care. Unlike her...

Sometimes, she wondered if they she was really their biological daughter to receive such unfair treatment. Whilst her younger sister spent almost father's money on going abroad, buying jewelries and dating her boyfriends, she was stuck in work, both the company and her education. She had strived hard with everything she got, wishing to be par with her sister or achieve their love at least once.

However, all those things didn't actually meant anything to them because in the end, she was just viewed as a pawn. A disposable thing, discarded when it's of no longer use. And that's what exactly happened.

One mere mistake that lead her to her doom.

She was Auryll Tejada, the eldest daughter of Mikel and Marie Tajada. The supposed successor of Tejada that would soon run the company in the future but never considered one. Instead, Auryll was engaged and promised to be the wife of a wealthy but immoral aristocrat who have already 3 wives at home and daughters like her age. Yet still wished to marry her in exchange for a big sum of money to suffice and help her parent's company's bankruptcy because of her chastity and beauty. At that time, Tejada's were falling and the old man took advantage to offer such a deal. He had been eyeing Auryll since she was high school and he struck in the right time. Of course, a desperate person will do anything just to not lose what he held dear and her parents agreed without a second thought. She was their saving grace at that moment but she just can't. After all, she had dreams...big dreams to be an independent big shot in the future. Now, here she was....

Without any hesitation, they handed her to him but she refused and cursed the man for his entire existence. She refused to be bedded by the old man and fought with all her strength that almost killed the old man when she hit his head with a vase. At that moment, she was so enraged when the old man drug her food and attempted to force himself with her during her sleep. She was hanging in a thread of sanity just for the sake of her promise to someone.

Thus, when she found out his filthy hands groping her thighs, she picked up the nearest object then whacked the old man's head with it. The old man was hospitalized and suffered coma for almost a month because of the hit and severe blood loss. However, Auryll never felt even an ounce of guilt for the old man who ruined not only her reputation but her entire life and future. She felt so hurt, so disappointed and betrayed by her family's doing at that moment but things didn't end there. When the news reached her parent's ear and the man finally backed off, broke any partnership with the Tejada's but also stopped helping Tejada's from rising, they had gone mad and voluntarily sold her to human traffickers due to rage.

Saying that kicking her off wasn't enough for the shame she had put the Tejada's in.

They had spat at her face and turned their backs, throwing her disgusted looks when she pleaded and cried but never once did they listened to her. Her sister only sneered at her when she held her thigh and pleaded to save her. They had threwn her off like a trash until she ended up being here.

A sex worker where abuse here and there.

Thankfully, for a newbie like her she only received good amount of beating and starvation but still had her virtue intact.

Auryll clenched her fists tight upon the memory that almost made her crazy. Hot tears stinged her swollen eyes but she didn't regret rejecting that's man's proposal even a bit. She neve regretted hitting his head. In fact, she wished she just broke his skull to pieces at least. Sure, her fate would be more worst when she will be that bastard's wife. He was triple her age with life circulating with girls, cigarettes and liquor. What would be her future marrying such a man?. Besides it's not like that she can turn back time, she wished she could.

All she needed to do now is to stay strong for the future. She needed to survive this dire situation no matter what and had still hopes in escaping this place.

But the question is how?.

She was empty handed, branded even. Tomorrow will be her nightmare for it was her first task to serve a particular man she never knew. Auryll sobbed harder. She stared at the pitch black skies that lacked of stars then back to her reflection showing the hopeless woman she is. She saw a different a person from what she used to be months before.

Hollow cheeks, lifeless eyes and almost skin and bones frame. Was this even her?.

"Auryll, why aren't you asleep yet?. Tomorrow would be a busy day for us. Do you want to be punished again?" a woman's voice snapped her out from her daze.

Beside Auryll was a beautiful woman just 2 years older from her who befriended her when she fist stepped in without any ill intentions contrary to the others who only wanted to make fun of her. She was experienced for she had worked almost decades in here and she couldn't help but pity Auryll who was still wild at that time when she first stepped in, refusing to accept her fate.

Denying things, convincing herself that this wasn't true didn't do her any good. The young woman groggily sat up and stared at Auryll with sleepy eyes.

Auryll's hands trembled at the thought of the things she needed to do tomorrow. Once again, tears spilled endlessly like waterfall from her hazel eyes.

The woman reacted quickly and wiped her tears using her fingers whilst trying to pacify her shuddering body.

"I'm not ready, Mirrah" she muttered, dazingly staring outside the window where guards are patrolling around to ensure that no one was foolish enough to escape. She planned and did it once, only to be bathed by hot boiling water on her back when caught trying to run away that until now still didn't healed. She can still feel her smoldered skin accompanied by the branding mark, it was impossible to erase.

Though it would soon heal but sure it will leave permanent scars just like the ones that were tainted in her heart.

"shh. It will be fine" Mirrah patted the back of her head, careful not to touch Auryll's back which was filled with nothing but opened wounds. The reason why she can't sleep during nights and chose to space out to lessen the pain.

Auryll cried in Mirrah's arms to vent her frustration and anger. Mirrah kissed her friend's forehead with teary eyes. She might not know her background or anything about this sweet girl but she clearly understood her situation right now. Unlike her who was doing this work on her own will for money, Auryll was forced and never wished to be here in the first place. She can still remember a girl being chained and pulled like a pig for slaughter, being dragged inside this place. Her defeaning screams and heart wrenching cries that broke any one's heart just by simply listening to it.

"I don't want to..." Auryll wailed helplessly, burying her face to Mirrah's embrace.

Mirrah didn't want to lie and give false hope. Thus, she could only whisper comforting words for her to calm down a bit. She could only pray that at least something or someone will come to save Auryll from this hellhole. As a girl, she knew how it felt for one's virginity to be forcefully taken by some random men. A sacred thing that was preserved and should be taken only by her future husband. Yet here she was.

"it's going to be okay, shh...don't cry"

Auryll hicupped in response.

"God is always there, let's just pray for a miracle to happen. It's going to be okay..."Mirrah held Auryll's little face on her hands.

She saw the betrayal and pain flashing on her eyes. Therefore, she hugged her tighter knowing that she needed it. They stayed like that for hours, silently listening to the drip drop of rain 'til it finally stilled.

Orange hue began to paint the colorless sky indicating it was already dawn.

Mirrah looked down to Auryll who had cried to her sleep. She looks so innocent, so vulnerable, so pure, she never deserved a life like this.

"please, save her God" she whispered to the wind whilst looking up.

Hugging her one last time, she slowly tucked Auryll in bed and laid her by her side to get rest. She caressed Auryll's baby hair with a motherly gaze before joining her to bed. Preparing themselves for the upcoming tommorow.
