Chapter 1: A new beginning
Febuary 1998, Los Angeles, USA
" Amy .. Amy "
Amelia opened her eyes feeling dizzy and nauseous. There was a sharp pain in her head, and it almost made her faint once again. She looked around and saw an old man looking at her worriedly.
He looked around seventy years old. He was a caucasian with a wrinkled face and skin, light brown hair and a thin body. He was dressed in gray pants, light gray shirt and a dark gray coat.
In Amelia's mind, the name of the person automatically popped up: Jack Collins.
He is Amelia's grandfather, now of her current self. She took a brief look at her surroundings. She was in a bedroom, which was decorated with a pinkish theme. There was a smell of medication in the room and a drip on her hand.
Jack saw that his granddaughter had woken up, he sighed in relief and hurriedly picked up the phone to call for the doctor to come upstairs.
Amelia raised her eyebrows calmly, thinking about her current situation. A few minutes ago, she was driving calmly on the road, going back to her house from theater. The last thing she remembers is encountering an accident. As for what happened after that, she doesn't know. And now when she opened her eyes again, she had become Amelia, an american girl with the same name as her.
From the memories she received, her current self was Amelia, a high school student in her third year. Her father Robert Collins was a relatively famous American photographer and her mother Alicia Carter was a British lawyer. After Alicia married Amy's father, she moved to US.
Previous self was a lovely girl with a beautiful appearance and lively personality. But after her parents death in car accident three months ago, she became dull and quiet. The previous brightness was replaced by constant gloom, and admist of these, she made a foolish attempt of suicide.
As Amelia was sorting out her memories, the door of the room opened and Jack entered with the family doctor, Dr. Frank beside him.
Docter Frank greeted lightly and sat on the chair beside bed, and asked: "How are you feeling. Your grandfather is very worried about you. I know its very painful for you, but you shouldn't lose yourself like this. You are not alone in this. Your grandfather and everyone is with you."
Amy replied: "l know. I will take care in future."
From his expressions, doctor didn't seem to have believed much of her words, but there was nothing she could do to except insuring verbally. And what's more, she wanted to avoid speaking as much as she could, as to not create any suspicion.
The examination lasted for about half an hour and doctor said to Jack: "Except for the injury on hand which will take some time to heal, she is fine. But she will have to take bed rest for few more days, and proper care of diet needs to be taken."
Jack replied: "I will insure the proper rest." After it, he called the servant to see doctor off.
He himself sat on the chair where doctor was sitting before, and said to Amelia: "I know its difficult, but we will face it bravely."
He himself was very sad about his Robert and Alicia's death, but was still trying to look better only for his granddaughter's sake.
Amy didn't know what to do, so she just held his hand: "I promise to not make you worried anymore, and will take better care of myself."
This was a promise not only to Jack but also to the orignal Amy and herself.
Hearing her words, he nodded and went out of the room to give space to her to rest.
After Jack went out, Amy began to sort out the remaining memories. They were not much important except for the few things which she didn't need for the time being.
The year currently is 1999, not the 2018 where she was before.
Amy stood up from the bed, removed the drip from her hand and went to the table where a computer was placed. Although internet was not advanced as of future, but it could still be used.
She took a brief look at the important information and events of the past, and came to a rough conclusion that except for her previous self, all the other things are same from before the time travel, like the theater where she used to work and all her previous friends, colleagues, etc. Its like that she has traveled to the past, but a past without the existence of her previous self. Anyway, it's a good. She can make a fresh and new start again.
